I Had a Horrible Experience with This Clinic.

Hello, I wanted to write this review for people that are fighting hair loss and are searching for a clinic for a hair transplant. Since I have gone through the experience of getting a hair transplant at Serkan Aygin Clinic, and am now approximately ten months post hair transplant, I felt it was my duty to give an honest, unbiased and thorough review of my experience with the clinic and my results. Unfortuanetly, I did not have a good experience with this clinic, nor did I get good results and therefore cannot recommend the Serkan Aygin Clinic.

The day before my hair transplant, I was transported from my hotel to the clinic for my consultation at 5:00 PM, with the hair transplant scheduled for the next morning at 7:00 AM. I had to wait in the lobby of the clinic for over two hours for the consultation with Dr. Aygin. So, I didn’t see Dr. Aygin until after 7:00 PM, which was very late for a consultation. Once I did see Dr. Aygin, the consultation only lasted a few minutes and was completely rushed and I wasn’t even allowed to ask all the questions I wanted to ask Dr. Aygin. I could tell they had so many consultations scheduled and were just rushing through them. As a matter of fact, Dr. Aygin never even examined my head to determine the state of my donor area and recipient area. Rather, Dr. Aygin simply looked at me from five or six feet away and blurted out the number of grafts that would be extracted. In the clinic’s Youtube videos, they show Dr. Aygin’s consultations with clients and he is examining client’s donor areas and the top of the head with a magnifying tool and going in-depth on the hair plan. The reality is that this is not what is actually done during the consultation, the Youtube videos are just for advertising. Going back to the number of grafts that would be extracted, Dr. Aygin stated 2,800 scalp grafts would be extracted for the hair transplant. However, when I had communicated with the clinic via WhatsApp, I was given a much different graft count. The clinic representative told me via WhatsApp the graft total would be 7,000 scalp grafts over two hair transplants, with the first transplant being 3,600-3,800 scalp grafts. Before booking my hair transplant, I questioned my WhatsApp representative about whether they could for sure do at least 3,500 scalp grafts for the first hair transplant, to which the representative assured me, yes. However, in person, Dr. Aygin just looked at my head for a few seconds, didn’t touch it, didn’t use the magnifying tool to check the hair and just said we can do 2,800 scalp grafts this hair transplant and maybe 1,800 scalp grafts the second hair transplant. So the total of 7,000 total scalp grafts initially quoted went down to 4,600 total scalp grafts, just like that. I came all the way from California, a thirteen hour flight during a pandemic, based off the information I was given ahead of time and then that was changed when I got there. Not only that, about six months after the hair transplant, just to see what the clinic quotes, I asked the same representative via WhatsApp how many scalp grafts I can receive for a second hair transplant. The representative quoted me 3,000 to 3,200 scalp grafts, even though, in person, Dr. Aygin quoted 1,800. You may notice a common theme here. The clinic is quoting high graft amounts just to get the client to go to the clinic for the hair transplant and then when you get there they give you a lower graft count. This is wrong, unethical and unprofessional.

Going back to the consultation, Dr. Aygin drew the hair line on me randomly by looking at me a few seconds, no measurements, no use of a measurement tool as shown in the Youtube videos, and no input sought from me for what I am looking for. I requested the hairline just slightly lower, less than a centimeter, which I have the right to, but Dr. Aygin didn’t allow it with a stern rebuke. In the clinic’s Youtube videos, they show Dr. Aygin spending ample time during the consultation and joking with the client and having a laid back and fun interaction. And in the Youtube videos, Dr. Aygin is seen using a magnifying tool to check the hair quality, etc. In reality, during the consultation, Dr. Aygin is in a rush and looks at your hair for a few seconds and determines the hair quality and amount of grafts just like that, without the use of any tools. The clinic’s Youtube videos are completely misleading.

With my WhatsApp representative, we had agreed upon before I came to Turkey on the DHI method, not FUE. I was paying extra for the DHI method as this was my preference. When it came time for payment after the consultation, the staff person gave me the price quote and I noticed it was less than the agreed upon amount. And I mentioned we had agreed to do DHI over WhatsApp, but the staff person told me Dr. Aygin said to do FUE. Dr. Aygin never mentioned FUE over DHI during the consultation. Shouldn’t this be a matter that is discussed directly between the doctor and the client? You would think so, but not at this clinic.

By the time I was done with the consultation and dropped off at my hotel it was past 8:00 PM and I had the hair transplant the next morning at 7:00 AM. During the preparation for the transplant, Dr. Aygin arrived, drew my hairline and left. I never saw Dr. Aygin again. There was no supervision of the hair transplant by Dr. Aygin. I repeat, Dr. Aygin was not present during the whole hair transplant!

Another rather unfortunate issue that arose was this. During the consultation, I explicitly told Dr. Aygin and the other staff present, that I don’t want more than 400 beard grafts taken as I keep a full beard and don’t want the density of my beard to be compromised. I stated this multiple times during the consultation, yet, I found out after the hair transplant, when they gave me the number of grafts that were taken, that they took 645 beard grafts without asking me, nor obtaining my permission. What right does the clinic have to take more beard grafts than I said they could?! This is unacceptable and inexcusable. When I addressed this during the post hair transplant meeting, the staff did not care and shrugged it off.

I chose this clinic based off the good reviews on-line because I thought they would be extremely professional and organized, but I never felt that with my experience. No one at the clinic apologized to me about any of these issues, nor did they offer to do anything about it. I thought this clinic was different based on the reviews, but no, it’s just another hair mill, just running through as many clients as possible.

In all fairness to the clinic, some of the staff were friendly and professional. The drivers that take you to and from the hotel to the clinic are nice. The staff at the clinic that assist you when you go in for your post hair transplant head wash are professional and friendly. The staff member who was my translator on the day of the hair transplant was very friendly and caring, I can’t remember his name but he was a young gentleman from Iraq.

The biggest issue I’ve had since getting a hair transplant at the clinic is regarding chest grafts that were used. Ever since the transplant, my chest has not healed, immediately after the transplant I got extreme folliculitis in my chest. The area is completely red, with bumps and my chest itches non-stop. I am approximately ten months post hair transplant and the issue still hasn’t healed. I tried many different topical medications which I am still using but that have not healed the chest area. I have seen a dermatologist multiple times who prescribed me antibiotics which I have to take indefinitely until the folliculitis heals. I also had to get two punch biopsies done during this process so the dermatologist could take a sample of my skin to try and diagnose the problem. The punch biopsy is a painful procedure where the dermatologist uses a punch tool to take a piece of your skin out in order to run tests on the skin. When I first noticed the issue with the chest folliculitis, I notified my aftercare specialist with the clinic via WhatsApp. The aftercare specialist informed me he would check with the clinic’s doctors and get back to me with instructions on how to treat the chest. I never heard back from him. After weeks went by, I had to contact the aftercare specialist again to find how I should proceed with treating my chest.

As I mentioned, I am approximately ten months post hair transplant. Unfortunately, the hair transplant results are not good. There is no density whatsoever, the hair is really thin on top. In addition, the hairline that was drawn and implanted does not look natural. I have asked my family members and friends about the hairline and they all said it doesn’t look natural or aesthetically pleasing. So, not only does the hairline look bad, but there is no density. Overall, the results are horrible. I have to get a second hair transplant just to fix the hairline, I won’t even be able to add grafts to the top of my head as my donor area doesn’t have more grafts than to fix my hairline. This again goes back to the clinic lying to me about how many scalp grafts (7,000 they said) I have available over two transplants. There is a big difference between 7,000 and the approximately 4,500 I actually have. Basically, I wasn’t a good hair transplant candidate, which they clearly knew, yet they lied about the graft amounts just to get me in and to profit off my misery.

As you can see from my experience, this has caused me a lot of stress and mental anxiety and has essentially ruined my life. Getting a hair transplant from this clinic was the worst decision I have ever made in my life. My intention in writing this review is to educate prospective hair transplant clients as to what they are getting into with a clinic like this. Serkan Aygin Clinic is the only one I have been to, so I can’t offer any alternatives, but I would recommend going to a clinic where the doctor does the hair transplant and has full involvement in the hair transplant.

I attached pictures of my hair so you can see the lack of density from the hair transplant and also pictures of my chest folliculitis. Through all of this, the clinic has shown no empathy, accountability or willingness to rectify the situation.
