Dr Diep - 2017 Grafts - FUT

I started losing hair in 2015 when I was 21 years old. The hair loss mainly occurred in the hairline area. I was losing my hair really slowly at first, but by 2017 I had to jump on Rogaine. Minoxidil helped me stabilized my hair loss for a little while.

I soon understood that Rogaine wasn't addressing the main culprit, which is mainly the androgen DHT. I needed a more aggressive treatment, so I started using Finasteride. I've been on Propecia for a little more than 2 years, and it really slowed down my hair loss. My hair density has actually been the same for the past year. Stabilizing your hair loss is really essential before having a hair transplant...

Anyways, around March this year, I decided to finally get a FUT hair transplant with Dr. John Diep. I decided to go with him because he specializes in African American Hair. As a black man, I couldn't go with a regular surgeon. I wouldn't say Dr. Diep is overbooked, but sadly the earliest appointment I could schedule was in September.

After what seemed to be forever, September came around. I flew to San Jose on September 16th and I checked in @ the Residence Inn which 2 minutes away from the clinic. The next day I went to the clinic to pick up my pre-op package. The staff was super friendly.

Finally, on the 18th, I arrived at Dr. Diep's office at 5:30 am for my surgery. Overall the surgery went super well. I was asleep for most of the procedure, but I must say it's looking super promising. My recipient area is looking really dense and healthy. The only bad thing I would say about the procedure is that a couple of moments here and there were painful, I won't lie.
No pain, no gain though.

I'll attach some pictures of my surgery in the following days. I also try to keep you guys updated on a monthly basis until I reach my 1-year mark.
