Here goes nothing. I have been thinking about...

Here goes nothing. I have been thinking about this seriously for about two years now. I have done tremendous amount of research, I have watched videos, asked about 50 questions or more and have just finished cleaning out my closet, and organizing what I have bought for pre and post surgery needs. I have lost about 50 pounds, but to be clear I have never been a small size gal, whatever that means. Prior to my daughter I was a size 12 throughout high school, after she was born I ballooned to a size 18. After a trip for my 30th birthday and after seeing the pictures, I decided it was time to do something about my weight. So, thanks to my mother who took my daughter for the summer I was able to finally have the time to exercise and eat right; at the time I was a graduate student, an intern, an employee as well as a single mother. This is all I did, no magic formula, no magic pill. I just started cutting back on sweets, soda, chips, take out, and began to increase the amount of vegetables, fruits and water. I have used myfitnesspal to keep track of calories and have forced myself out of my warm house in the winter in North Dakota to go the gym. If you are familiar with the cold winters of North Dakota, you know this was no easy task. I seem to be stuck in the weight that I am right now, and I am sure if I really try hard enough I could lose more weight, but honestly I feel content with how I look like with clothes on and I don't feel like limiting what I eat more than what I already do, or increasing the days at the gym, which I currently go to 4-5 times/week. I am currently a size 10/36C. I have developed a list of necessary supplies, but am not sure if this will change once I actually have my surgery done. Next week is my pre-op and I am nervous, but I am mostly excited! My biggest problem are my arms, even though I lift (do you even lift bro), my arms are jiggly and I never wear short sleeve shirts, I am embarrassed, and have had this problem even during my teenage years. My second concern, is my tummy, I went back and forth on this, yes on the one hand it housed my beautiful daughter, but this isn't about me being a mother, this is about me being a woman and wanting to look good for me, it is almost a reward for working so hard at losing weight and keeping it off for almost 4 years. The lipo is being performed on the flanks, my PS suggested it and I trust him. I have included the list of supplies that I have purchased.
I have read that constipation is a real issue so I have miralax, tums, and anti gas tablets.
Hibiclens (antibacterial soap for body before and after surgery)
Betadine (antiseptic cream)
Antibacterial Gel for hands
Ensure pre and post operative shakes (vitamins and minerals that your body needs to recover from major surgery)
Multi vitamin, vitamin C, zinc
Planning on light meals, with lots of fiber and protein shakes, tons of water
Arnica gel, ice pack, heater pad for back
Gauze, dressings, surgical tape
Perinea bottle (wish I had a bidet)
Walker (renting this one)
I have a recliner, books, and tv shows saved that I would like to watch, nothing funny nor sad.
Cotton granny panties (lucky for me I will get my period on the day of my surgery)
Open front shirts, comfy sweat pants, compression socks, cotton undershirts to wear under binder
Epifoam, which my doctor recommended. I also asked him for an extra binder to have something to wear while I wash one.
I am having my mother and daughter braid my hair, have tons of pillows, will not eat anything with too much salt as I have read it swells you up and in my case will be extra cautious of milk products as I am lactose intolerant, now that I think about it maybe it will help with constipation LOL!
I have also read that it is important that I set an alarm for medication and to take tylenol in between. If I am missing something, please let me know. I have been diligent on working on strengthening my legs even more as I will not want or will be able to use my abs. I go up and down the stairs at work like a maniac. I have taken two weeks and one day off from work, the first day I will only come back for half a day to ease the transition back, my job is pretty sedentary. I am excited to be naked in front of my husband with all the lights on!!!

Hi, it sounds like you are well prepared. Be careful with the carton protein drinks, sodium count. I think you'll do fine since you're already working out, it's not as bad as we expect......GOOD LUCK

Great advice thank you!

I am 2 weeks post op tomorrow... you are way more prepared than I was lol. That's great! The only thing I would say is that 2 weeks seems very early to go back to work. I still have not slept thru the night, still waking up in pain, still not standing fully upright and still need lots of help around the house! But everyone is different. My Doctor seems to think I'm doing well... But I don't feel like it. You may do alot better than me since you are way more prepared than I was! Good luck with everything! It will all be worth it.

My arm lift will focus on the upper arm and the armpit area, as this is where most fat and lose skin is located at.
