12 Month Post Accutane Update

Wow so it’s been a full year from my last Accutane dose. I’m so in love with my skin. I even have minor blemishes that I love too. As long as it’s not all over my face I’ll take a blemish or two. Most importantly my skin is so soft and smooth! ‘This may be my last update unless something drastic occurs with my face. I appreciate the RealSelf platform for providing us all reliable journeys and the ability to document processes regarding medication and procedures. It’s extremely helpful. I wish everyone the best of luck and success during and after your Accutane journey!!

10 month Post Accutane Update
Well I wished I had good news but I actually have experienced some breakouts around my eye area and neck and tiny ones on my cheek. At first I wasn't alarmed by it until I realized they were happening more frequently than I would like. I didn't change my facial care routine so I can't really pinpoint where it's coming from. I'll probably will be making an appointment to my dermatologist soon so he can tell me if I'm tripping or not. I am concerned and do not want to get back on Accutane. Wish me luck on my visit and I'll keep y'all posted!

Good luck with everything! I commented a really long time ago and was so inspired by your journey! You were so right. This treatment has changed me! I feel and look great. I feel 16 again! So thank you for your continued posts. You’re beautiful!

Hi! I just read through your entire journey. Thank you so much for doing this journal. So helpful. My daughter is just starting accutane and your story is very inspirational. you look incredible, absolutely glowing. I'm sure you are beautiful inside and out. How did your last derm appointment go? Awe thank you for taking the time to read through it. I’m glad it helped. My face is actually clearing back up on it’s on so the dermatologist appt never got made. Rose water is something new I’ve incorporated in my skin care routine and it seems to be helping. My dermatologist already said that acne may return but just not as severe so I’m not going to bug him about some minor pimples. Thank you again for your thoughts and I’m praying your daughter has even better results!!

7 Month Post Accutane Update
Hey everyone! I just wanted to share a little Update on what's been going on with my skin. So far I've experience 1 blackhead and 1 white head. No pimples. My skin is still super soft and smooth. I wear 70+ SPF Neutrogena brand EVERYDAY even if I don't go outside. I use pure coconut oil as a moisturizer and just a regular moisturizer soap bar Ambi brand to wash my face. I use Torac at night which is basically Accutane in a cream form. That's really all I put on my face as a daily regimen. I try not to use a bunch of stuff on my face now and will not get a facial or anything because I'm super nervous about getting a reaction to whatever the spas may use. Now that my face is clear I'm even more OCD about keeping it that way! My husband can't even touch my face lol. Well I hope my review helps anyone that is either on the fence about Accutane or about to start the journey. It's so worth it!!

I'm on month 2 of accutane and I'm amazed and inspired from your results, your skin looks flawless & untouched :O I'm so used to wearing makeup to cover my scarring I hope I don't need to once I'm done with accutane :/ Also has the redness from scarring just gradually went away?

The scarring was actually going away by the end of month 5. Your derm should be able to give you something to lighten the scarring. I would say it completely went away by like month 8. I was on it for 7 months. Hope that helps and you're already a pretty girl so I know this will just help enhance and bring out the beauty even more! Good luck!!

Did you ask your doctor to keep you on accutane a additional month ?

No he actually recommended that I stay on it one more month just to make sure it was good in my system.

I'm 51 yrs old now and I took Accutane when I was in my 20s. I had similar dramatic results. And I'm happy to say that 30 yrs later my skin is still clear! I don't get breakouts and it is amazing! Be kind to your skin from now on and you'll keep that beautiful glow!! Happy for you and your awesome results!! I know how good it feels! You look wonderful!!
