At 53, hereditary nasolabial lines and downturned...

At 53, hereditary nasolabial lines and downturned mouth corners were all I saw in the mirror. I also hated the vertical grooves that were forming in my upper lip area. I knew I wanted Botox for the deep "11" between my eyebrows and thought that a filler would also be a possibility. I made consultation appointments with two dermatologists and Dr. Steele. He was my last appointment and the only one who actually touched my face and used a mirror to show what he would do. I went for it and had 50+ units of Botox at the consultation in my forehead, between eyebrows, in crow's feet (which I hadn't considered) and upper lip. Lip lines, "11s", crow's feet and forehead were magically smoothed. It was easy and painless. I scheduled filler for the nasolabial folds for the next week. Dr. Steele used 2 syringes of Juvederm and spent almost an hour injecting that area, the corners of my mouth and my upper lip. I kind of panicked when he mentioned doing the upper lip - thinking Real Housewives - but he explained that the filler, in combination with the Botox, defined the lip. And he was right! The only downside was about 4 days of bruising around the corners of my mouth requiring Dermablend to cover for work three days later. I also could feel "bumps" of filler under my top lip but those disappeared after a week. I was numbed before the filler so there wasn't any pain, just pressure and the feel of a needle going deep into the folds. Six weeks later, I'm thrilled with the results. The first week afterwards I was constantly looking in the mirror, touching my face and examining my skin feeling like I had done something crazy but you just have to relax and let everything settle down. Dr. Steele did an awesome job and I am definitely considering him for other procedures.
