Revision-11 Year Old Saline to Gummy Bear Implants with Internal Bra with Lift

Had my first implant surgery in 1998 by Dr. Kress. Had no problems whatsoever for 12 years until I decided to get a revision. I lived in South Florida so I went to Dr. Revis who was about 3 hours away from me.
Dr. Revis performed my revision in 2008 to replace my 12 year old saline implants with the gummy bear cohesive gel ones. Previously had no issues with the saline except after 3 kids there was extra skin and they had bottomed out. Dr. Revis did the internal bra on each breast and replaced my implants. Two days later, as I was laying in bed, my right breast sounded like it "popped" inside and it immediately felt very hot and ballooned to 3 times the size it was. It was very excruciating and I was in serious pain. I was hours away from Dr. Revis' office, I called them and they said to go to the hospital to get checked. I was able to be taken the next day to see him and he said that I would have to go right back into surgery the next day to drain the blood and repair whatever happened. I was devastated. I had to pay the OR fee again, the anesthesiologist fee again and one other bill I believe. It turns out that a suture from the internal bra ripped through my muscle and caused major bleeding. I didn't do a single thing to have caused it. I was being extra careful and did nothing but lay in bed and sleep. I had to have a huge drain put in for 4 days which was horrible.
Unfortunately, within 6 months I developed severe capsular contracture in both breasts again-mainly my right-and had to have another revision done less than 2 years later. He performed the surgery and replaced the implants and also used Strattice in both breasts to help to avoid the CC . After that surgery, I've had nothing but problems and have developed severe CC again, especially in my right breast and am constantly in pain. It's been many, many years that I've been living with this and it keeps getting worse. I wish I never got a revision to begin with. I'm currently looking for a phenomenal doctor to fix my breasts and get me out of this pain! I'm not going to bad mouth Dr. Revis; he wasn't the right doctor for me to begin with, I suppose. He has done great work but unfortunately my results weren't good with him.

I'm curious as to why are U just doing this review if the Dr did a revision on U 8 yrs ago? Thank you

Because I've been living with this mess on my chest for 8 years and FINALLY have the financial ability now to do something about it! :) Not long after my revision my husband broke his neck and we had 3 kids and astronomical medical bills due to his accident.

Also, I've been VERY scared to go through the whole process again. Scared it won't be fixed

I am so sorry to hear about this. You can still file a complaint with the medical board in Florida. Prayers for you and your family.

From reading on RealSelf, onthebeach (realself user) also had a horrible revision through Dr. Revis. However, Dr. Krau was able to revise and they look beautiful in the pics. The woman also advises patients who went through similar experiences after Dr. Revis to visit the Florida State Medical Board and look up proceedings and actions under the practitioner file.

Hi, I am so sorry you have had to put up with this, and happy for you that you are planning on getting a revision soon. May I ask you, what did Dr Revis say about this and did he offer to correct it? Obviously, and unfortunately, there is always a tiny risk of complications. I find it the most important thing about a surgeon is how they handle it when things go wrong. I have had bad experiences with surgeons that won't take responsibility for bad results and am considering a revision with Dr Revis (have been psyched to be honest). Would appreciate your feedback on how you felt you were treated after this happened.. Very best of luck with your next surgery:)

After my second surgery with Dr. Revis I went in for the normal post-op appointments. When I expressed concern over the way they looked he acted like it was all normal and would just take time to look better. He acted like it was no big deal and every thing was great. I felt like I wasn't really being listened to at all. After the second revision done by him that was terrible I had no desire to go back to him to mess me up a third time! I paid $10,000 for first revision and $13,000 for the second. The only "discount" I got was when after my first revision the suture tore through my muscle and caused extreme pain and filled my right breast with blood so much it was swelled up to my neck. Then he waived his surgeon fee and fixed it by putting in a drain. That was only 2 days after my first revision with him. I still had to pay the OR fee and anesthesiologist fee. Needless to say, I wasn't happy with anything to do with him and would never have him perform surgery on me again. Hope this helps! Good luck to you and your future surgery, with whomever you choose :)
