I had a Forehead Reduction Surgery on 1/14. I had my sutures removed by my PCP back home on Day 7; I'm a little over a week post-op and I will update my journey as I go. I had originally planned on getting an eyebrow transplant at the same time as my SHA but Dr. Epstein recommended that I do it at a separate time due to the eyebrow shape being affected by the SHA. Depending on how I heal from this, I'll plan on coming back to Dr. Epstein for that procedure along with hair grafting to round out my hairline in at least 3 months. So far, the recovery hasn't been too bad. The pain was more than I expected but nothing unbearable with the pain medication Dr. Epstein prescribes. Surprisingly, the incisions didn't hurt at all; it was the scalp on the back of my head that felt super raw and tender the first night that I could barely lay on it. Day 2 was crucial, my entire face swelled up especially the sides of my face especially around my jawlines and the filler in my chin, which I had thought went away already magically reappeared and became hard and painful. I texted Dr. Epstein and he had let me know it was normal and to lay off the salty food. This was all a part of recovery but it's something to keep in mind. Other than the mid-scalp and frontal region, I have sensation back on the back of my head, as well as the sides. It doesn’t bother me too much, feels kind of like I’m wearing a headband 24/7.
Dr. Epstein and his staff, especially Roxy, Cindy, Marleni, and Nurse Anesthetist Rick were professional, super friendly, and addressed every question I had from the beginning.
I will finish updating my review and the results once there’s progress to be shared. At the moment, I’m focused on healing and dealing with what looks like a hypertrophic scar in the center of my incision line. Dr. Epstein has advised me to massage the area with gentle pressure and to get kenalog injections 3 weeks from now if it doesn’t get any better.

Hey! Thanks for sharing. My forehead is square too naturally and am looking to get hair grafts too. At the moment I am experiencing shock loss so I am really just trying to heal before planning anymore procedures. Who are you looking into?

Dear "Surgery Doll" (not your real name haha). I am so far very happy with how you are healing and the results i was able to achieve, especially since we opted to not perform a galeotomy which typically provides 2 to 4mm of additional advancement (which would have put us beyond one inch) so as to reduce the risk of thinning or hair loss when you already have some of that along your frontal hairline. Around 85% of my hairline lowering patients do not require/desire grafting to the hairline afterwards because it heals so well with hairs growing through it, but every patient is different. And let me be clear- while i do perform 3 to 5 of these surgeries every week, I devote my full attention to each case during surgery.

Thanks for sharing. One question: did he only lower your hairline or did he also shave your forehead?

Anytime! No shaving at all, only lowered my hairline.

Hey, thank you so so very much for your review. It makes a world of difference. I’m scheduling the SHA procedure with him & it would be a huge game changer if you could let me know if you feel he’a the right choice or that it’s worth it or anything like that to ease my mind & decide on all of this. Thank you again honestly!

Hey! Good luck with your surgery! My incision like is taking longer than I expected to and I'm experiencing a patch of shock loss right in the center of my scalp which I'm hoping that it's only temporary.. I'm waiting to see if it'll grow back then I can really write a fair and honest feedback. I can tell you that he and his office as been totally responsive from beginning til the end. As for the result, I really can't tell right now I'm just really worried about my shock loss area :(

Please update on healing, hair loss, etc!! I want to get this procedure done after I graduate but I’m still deciding

I'll definitely make an update once I'm healed. But as I mentioned I don't think it's fair to judge the procedure or the surgeon during the healing process because everything takes time, especially hair. Right now I'm really praying that my shock loss is only temporary and isn't permanent
