3.5 year update

It’s been almost 4 years and there is asymmetry still. Sadly one nostril is still noticeably smaller/squashed looking and now the bridge leans heavily to one side. I hate how wonky it looks from the front, it obviously looks like I’ve had a nose job. It’s looking a lot like not enough structure was placed on one side :(

I’m sad about it but I try to look on the bright side. It’s not as ugly as it used to be and my breathing is amazing. Plus it still looks cute from the side, pointy and pixie like which I wanted. I’d love a revision but I also don’t love the idea of paying for it since I’ve already invested so much.

Dear Neevie, thank you so much for posting your detailed progress. I am sure it will be extremely helpful to others and it's great for the whole team to get this kind of feedback. I have noted your worries - at this stage there will be daily fluctuations but I will take a good look at everything at your next appointment. If it helps, please feel free to arrange an earlier appointment via Tracey. All the best, Waseem Saeed

Day 54

Hi everyone,
I hope you had a great Christmas! I didn't dread photos for the first time in about 3 years. And the photos I saw of myself... I liked them. Normally with photos, I would zoom in on my nose and end up in a self-hate spiral. All I would see was my horrible nose. But now I can actually enjoy taking photos with my family. It's an incredible relief that I am so grateful for. It's not just photos - I feel like I can finally live my life again.
I've had a few comments wondering what's going on with my columella, which I will talk about more in this post because I think there is a bit of misunderstanding.
Dr. Saeed checked my nose after I noticed the asymmetry. He confirmed that my columella has healed straight, and my septum has healed straight. There is however an illusion of a crooked columella as I have a hard ball of scar tissue on the left side, at the "foot" of the columella. Dr. Saeed says it's either 1.) all scar tissue, or 2.) partly the foot of my columella poking out too much, with scar tissue on top. So it's one of those two things. I have included a diagram of a columella, the part marked in blue is the ball of scar tissue at the foot of the columella. Hopefully this explains what's going on.
I have been massaging the scar tissue as advised, and although the hard ball seems to be getting softer, it doesn't seem to be improving the appearance much. I was told if the massaging doesn't improve anything, then the scar tissue (and/or little bit of columella foot cartilage) will have to be removed via local anaesthetic at some point. I think this will definitely need to happen, as I've stopped seeing improvements now (even though they were quite minor to begin with). As much as I love the side view, I would really like the scar tissue removing as it is distorting the front view a bit.
The way I was told to do the massages was to get a tiny bit of moisturiser, place my index finger at the top of my columella, just inside my nostril, and smooth up and down motions, focusing on the hard lump. I do this for about 3 mins every day. I also do massages to keep my tip pointy. These massages require me to place one finger just under my tip, and place another finger on the other hand just above the tip, hold for 3 seconds, then smooth up to my hairline. I do this multiple times a day. It creates a vacuum to stop fluid gathering in my tip and letting it get rounded instead of sharp. If I forget to do it one day I will wake up with a slightly swollen nose the next day, so definitely keep up with your aftercare people! I've been told to do this for 9 months.
Please let me know if you have any questions and I'd love to be of help! Thanks :) x

Day 39: It's official, I'm changing the status of this review to: WORTH IT!

Hey everyone!
Since the last time I posted I have noticed the tiniest bit more definition in the sides of my bridge and in the tip of my nose. I think that means more swelling has gone down. I like how it looks and I think it's not going to change much from here, so I've decided to change my review from 'not sure' to 'worth it' :)
I love my new nose so much. The absolute artistry and magic Dr. Saeed has done for me is beyond anything I could have hoped for. Please check my before photos if you haven't already - my nose was a complete mess.
Breathing is still a bit stuffy but that's to be expected for a few months yet. I can breathe through my nose without having my mouth open at night, which I couldn't before, so it's already an improvement. Anything else will be the cherry on the cake.
Dr. Saeed said with massage, the scar tissue inside one of my nostrils (the skinny) one should reduce in 9 months time. I am massaging it and the scars from the surgery 3x a day to improve the healing process. To be honest, I'm so happy to have my dream nose that the nostril assymetry doesn't really bother me that much.
If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask, I'd be happy to help anyone x
