Great experience - so thankful for everything he has done for me

I am 55 years old, and about a year ago, I started to research a cosmetic surgeon. I am a retired Police Officer, so I am no stranger to background checks. This review is not only for people considering plastic surgery but all the research that went into picking this doctor. ? Let's start by saying it's very scary choosing a doctor that you're going to have work on your face. One mistake, and we all know what the consequences will be. So, I was thinking, how do we pick a doctor, and what exactly should we investigate to determine whether that doctor is good or bad? I took the following parameters to make my decision; 1) court records to see how many times the doctor has been sued. This is the only way to determine whether or not people have been happy or not. 2) read reviews; although this can be manipulated, there is still useful information here. 3) google search of the doctor and business. 4) an office visit. I have spent 25 years interviewing people, and I trust my instincts and not the promises being made.?I have no less than 100 hours searching youtube, google, and forums relating to cosmetic surgeons. During the search, I came up with five surgeons I believe have the best online presence.? Let's fast forward; Dr. Mustoe stood out way above the rest as to experience, location, and price. I don't want to mention the price here because you could be reading this ten years from now. Still, I will say one of the doctors I called was 60,000 more than Dr. Mustoe, and while on the phone, he tried to justify by saying he had a unique technique that he wanted you to believe he was the only person that could do this. After a brief conversation and questions relating to his technique, it was obvious that he was full of...? The next step was to book a meeting. My first impression of Dr. Mustoe was positive. He was very professional and patient, and more importantly, he listened to me. I explained to him what I wanted to achieve, what bothered me on my face, and what I thought I needed. After explaining to Dr. Mustoe what I needed, his advice to me was spot on, and he did not try to upsell me. One of the things that I learned while doing my research was that doctors will try and tell you that you need more than you actually do. When you get to this stage, I recommend you write down your questions and concerns, so you don't forget.? I finally made a decision and decided to go with Dr. Mustoe. I also decided to go with Dr. Mustoe's advice and have the procedure done at his office instead of in an operating room. The doctor assured me there would be no pain and I would save at least 5k doing this instead of the operating room. The closer in time it got to my procedure, the more nervous I got. Something about being awake while they cut my face was very alarming to me.? On the day of the surgery, I had to be there at 9 am with the medications the doctor had prescribed for me. The actual surgery was at noon. I can assure all of you that not only was there no pain, but I don't remember the surgery at all. Everyone in the office was very friendly and accommodating.? Seven days later, I had the staples and stitches removed. I was very happy with everything, and my meeting with Dr. Mustoe was, in my opinion, what separated him from everyone else. He assured me that everything he was seeing on my face was progressing as expected. He then went on to say that if anything was to turn for the worst, not to worry and that he would take care of it. Once again, he was very busy the day I had the staples removed, and not once did he try to rush me or to brush me off per se.? My overall experience was great. Dr. Mustoe definitely cares about his patients and is a very talented surgeon. If anyone has any questions for me, feel free to email me.
