WORTH IT
Well I am scheduled to have a Biltmore lift and possibly upper bleph with the very well regarded Dr. Harley. I am really excited and my procedure is November 2. 53 years young but since 50; starting to notice the need for a little nip and tuck. Looking forward to sharing this journey and also any pre surgery guidance....anything that you felt was important to do; know; or purchase!! We are worth it!!!

so my surgery got postponed until march 8 (0ne day before my bday lol); and I am getting excited and also very nervous!! I will be traveling from San Diego, and I am wondering if anyone used TLC services for the first night, as my husband is not going to be able to travel with me. Also, I know you have to return the next day to dr Harley's office, wondering if anyone can tell me how they felt flying within a few days (week) after their surgery or any suggestions. Given I am doing this all solo, I am a little nervous but from what I gather most people going to see him have had a very smooth operation and operation. today is day one for me in terms of better diet, no alcohol, and putting up with minor aches and pains vs my standard go-to (aleve). I kind of can't believe I am really going through with this!

Hi,
I had the Biltmore lift in September- I did not use TLC so I won’t comment on that, other than to say from every review I’ve read regarding them, they sound good. I returned the day after the procedure to get stitches out, did not feel a thing. KELLY is very gentle and I may have still been numb. Flying home (seattle) was uneventful. I did feel tired, but honestly I cannot remember anything that was problematic. I did have my husband with me, but I do feel I could have easily pulled this off on my own. In fact, I may have preferred this. It’s a great opportunity to treat yourself to a week of rest, healthy food, being cared for, and more rest! I love Dr. Harley. I was pretty nervous going all the way across the country for plastic surgery. But- I went with my gut instinct based upon many reviews and phone conversations with past patients. I probably could have found a doc in seattle to do the same, but Dr, Harley specializes in this specific procedure and I just felt he’d be my best option. I love the results, almost 6 months later- and my time in Asheville will always be a very special memory for me.

awesome thank u so much for responding. going with gut too;) so you were able to go back and get stiches removed after a day or a week?
February 12, 2018
also I am just wondering if I should fly back sooner or is there any mandatory time he requires before u fly?

Dr. Harley prefers patients stay one week. But, I’ve heard of many patients leaving earlier. Also- I’m so sorry I made a mistake/ it’s the wrapping that is removed on day two. Stitches need 7 days. So that is why it’s better to stay. Apparently it’s not so easy to find s doctor willing to remove another doctors stitches- especially with plastic surgery. So- if you needed to leave earlier than 7 days, that would be your hurdle. I also think it’s hood to take that week to heal, rest and let those incisions heal well.

CORRECTION!!!!
It’s the wrapping that is removed on day two- stitches need 7 days. Sorry.

I just had the same procedure in Mexicali. I was able to go back across the border the next day to see my plastic surgeon. I’m traveling the Southwest in our RV and decided to go back to the American side to recoup. I could have stayed in a hotel on my own. I’m very active and in good health. My surgry was five days ago. I’ve been out and about already and I would if needed fly on an airplane at day 5. I went into the grocery store yesterday with just my compression garment on. People did a double take. I thought that I would be embarrassed but I’m so happy that I had this surgry that I probably will not hide it. It sparked a something inside of me. I’m a little swollen but I have no pain. I never had any pain in my upper eyes. I’m 54 and menopause hit me one summer day last year. I haven’t been diligent wearing sunscreen but I will now. I’m also on Bio hormones. All the best to you.

I had a lower neck and face lift with upper bleph. SMAS is what the doctor told me he did. I will get my stitches out on my eyes on 14 of Feb. The doctor will determine at that appointment whether he will remove the stitches behind and in front of my ears.

thank u so much for all that info. I will prob fly back early and let doc here take the stiches out.im telling menapause is rough; I noticed very rapid changes In my face about a year ago. just seemed like everything sloped downward. lol. and it does change u psychologically and I just don’t feel like looking in the mirror every morning at a tired, angry appearing face. I feel it’s worth the cost. I’m so glad u are out and about very quickly it gives me hope!

I just had the procedure last week. Got sutures removed today with no pain or issue. Dr. Harley, Juanita and everyone is so nice and helpful. My sister came for the first few days which was nice and she got food and drained my tube the first day but I had really no pain. No interest in moving around too much.
I took the meds first two nights more for ability to sleep than pain.
Rest of the week I was going stir crazy as it is raining here and no car I would've had to uber into town with sunglasses on - got upper bleph as well. Especially after my sister left. I worked during the day- remote worker. Hotel was 12 minutes away from his office.
I am heading home tonight.
Swollen a little but nothing else.
Take the Arnica and rest and sleep upright. It isn't as hard as it seems. 45 degree angle. Get a wrap around neck pillow like for flying. Helps to keep head in position and ice packs around lower face. I iced a lot and I think it helped. Used wash cloths frozen in hotel freezer worked best.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I had the procedure 4 weeks ago and used TLC. They were wonderful and so experienced with what to do. They pick you up the day of your surgery, wait for you to be done and then take you back to hotel and set you up in bed. I had them stay with me 24 hours, even though I had my husband with me. They took care of the drain, made sure I took my meds every 4 hours and then took me back to the office the next morning to get the bandages removed. They brought me back to the hotel and my husband took over after that. You are still feeling the effects of the pain meds the first 24 hours, so it is very nice to have the help. It is really not that expensive when you look at all they do. Susie calls to check on you even after their work is done and she has a wealth of knowledge if you have any questions.

one week out from surgery with Dr Harley

Well, it is one week from surgery and I have been so conflicted about doing this that I even thought of cancelling. It has been helpful to hear all the positive stories and results though; and I AM looking forward to at some improvement. Will be doing lift; possibly upper bleph too but I think I will defer that until next year. Trying to do my best to reduce the possibility of major swelling now; but just soooo nervous. I will post videos/photos of before and after. my husband thinks I am crazy lol

Hi lc, I am so excited for you, and thank you for sharing your journey with the community! I think you will have spectacular results! You are very pretty already and I’m sure you’ll be pleased with a refreshed look! I am a year out from surgery (with a Las Vegas doc) and still very happy. I would echo what a few have said here, sleep elevated for a week or two if you can. I bought a wedge pillow that I love, but you can also prop yourself up with pillows too. Drink lots of water and stay away from sodium. You will swell naturally as part of the healing process, but I found those things help. I’m not convinced that arnica and pineapple juice are effective, but they certainly don’t hurt. It sounds like you are ready, so be comfortable with your decision and think positive thoughts! We are here for moral support and look forward to following your progress!

I had my surgery about a month ago and I was scared too at the time. However, the surgery is really a breeze. I hardly had any pain. I took half of the pain dosage the first 24 hours and never took another pain pill after that. I used TLC for the first 24 hours even though my husband came with me. He was nervous about how it would go and emptying the drainage tube. TLC was wonderful and we did not have to worry about a thing because we had their care. They drove us to the surgery and stayed over night to make sure I was sitting up and taking my medicine. The swelling was more visible than I expected after two weeks, but it was much better by the third week. However, everyone heals differently. My scars healed faster than I expected. Don't worry, you won't feel a thing and use TLC - they are just excellent.

How exciting, your time is so close! I get how you are feeling. I remember being really scared but also feeling very excited just before heading to Asheville. You are going to do great...you are prepared, plus you will be in the best of hands with Dr. Harley. I was also on the fence about having an upper bleph, but am so glad I did as I still love the results almost a year and a half later, major difference for me. Looking forward to following your review!
