My nose update today
Update on my new nose. Photos taken this morning. I became quite curious as to how Dr Lee created my nose using my rib cartilage. So I googled further to see how this procedure was done. I was fascinated. I believe after harvesting the rib cartilage (mine was not of high quality - thin and long), Dr Lee had to carve and chisel the cartilage to create my nose. I can imagine the pressure he must have had doing it. I wanted to look like a certain Korean actress. Dr Lee is known to be the best in rib rhinoplasty technique. So I was confident that I will get a good nose. When I had the facelift and necklift, my nose was somewhat ‘stretched’. My poorly defined nose became more flat. I did not also understand the word ‘alar’. Plastic surgery was new to me. Dr Lee explained to me that my skin was thin and fragile when he did the facelift. So a lot of work and care were put into doing my nose. The stitches underneath my nose are not visible now. Dr Lee’s fine stitching was outstanding. Daily rinsing of my nose with saline solution and using the antibiotic cream helped the healing process. Up to now I am still learning the process of Plastic surgery. Last night’s episode on Four Corners on Australian TV regarding plastic surgery in China gave a view that was rather sad. It showed people undertaking cosmetic surgery for highly questionable reason and also showed what can go wrong. People do plastic surgery for different reasons. I am of the opinion one has to do their research work and go for an experienced doctor - quality verses costs. Dr Lee will advise you what you need and not what you want. He is a good surgeon - remember, he is not a magician haha
Photos of my Awesome Transformation
These are photos taken before and 4- 6 weeks after surgeries. I am 60 years old and Dr Lee made me youthful again. When Dr Lee did my nose, he harvested the cartilage from my rib. He said my rib cartilage was not great. It was thin and long. The nose surgery was not painful but the wound in my rib area where he took the cartilage was. I could not cough, sneeze or laugh. That hurt for 5 days Surprisingly, I was able to breathe freely through the ‘tubes’ in my nostrils. Dr Lee was able to harmonised my face with the new nose. He did mid face augmentation as well and I love the tilt just above my face. My lip was transformed too. Love it. Dr Lee did some fat grafting as well - I did not understand about fat grafting but I had alot of confidence in Dr Lee’s expertise. I saw my friends ‘face reveal’ and I knew mine would be just as great. I believe it is important to get an experienced doctor. A few may think that his fees maybe a bit higher than others (I believe Dr Lee’s professional fees, care and 2 weeks or more accommodation are VERY reasonable) but one should go for Quality. Dr Lee did not disappoint me.
My Plastic Surgery Journey with Dr Lee Myung Ju
I was supposed to fly to Jeju in January this year, but because of South Korea’s border restrictions, I was unable to fly with my Singapore friends because I was an Australian resident. They left for Jeju without me. I had mixed feelings then - I thought that border restriction was a sign for me not to proceed with this journey. But NO. It was a sign to give me time to reaffirm my decision to have my face done by Dr Lee. I waited in Singapore for my friends to return from Jeju. They all had their faces done by Dr Lee in January. I was surprised. I was in awe and I was impressed. They all looked awesome. So I was determined to do it - so I contacted Dr Lee’s manager, Ms Joann, again who made all the arrangements for my procedure dates and accommodation. I was indeed apprehensive but somehow I knew I was in good hands. I arrived on 8th May - Dr Lee saw me that Sunday evening to run through with me and his pharmacist the medicines I had with me. Dr Lee was at first reluctant to operate on me because of my medical history but I reassured him that I had the blessings of my Australian doctors to have these recommended procedures carried out while I was in Jeju. Namely facelift, neck lift, rib cartilage Rhinoplasty and mid face augmentation. I had my facelift and neck lift done first the next day. Dr Lee decided to stagger my operations and not do everything all at once because I was immunocompromised. This bolstered my confidence in Dr Lee. Before the operation, I held Dr Lee’s hand and whispered to him to look after me and to make me beautiful. Dr Lee, (a quiet man), smiled and nodded his head. The procedure was done via IV sedation. When I woke up from surgery, I saw Dr Lee and his team smiling at me. I did it. We did it, I whispered. I saw my face all bandaged up in the mirror. There was NO pain. No pain, at all. I was sent back to my room and was looked after by the charming night nurse who made sure I was ok that whole night. The whole facelift and neck lift surgeries went smoothly. So did recovery. Dr Lee explained to me post-operatively that he had to spend a bit more time on my neck because I had a lot of fat under the muscle and my salivary glands were extra large. He monitored my health every day and reminded me to start taking my usual medicines from Australia together with the ones he prescribed. I was treated well - like a VIP. Joann made sure I ate well too. I had a dietary restriction. I do not eat pork or pork products. Joann made sure I had my food daily and even took me out to dinner on many occasions. Everyday, I looked at myself in the mirror and marvelled at my face - slowly but surely the bruises subsided. I placed icepacks every 40 minutes over my eyes and after 5 days, I was able to take on a zoom meeting call - I wrapped my face with a scarf and no one knew I had had surgery done. I am happy I chose Dr Lee to operate on me. He is meticulous and passionate in his work. Joann his manager is a real wonder lady. She made sure I was happy all the time. She kept me company when I was on my own. I just cannot describe how easy one can get lonely in a different country and not understanding the language or culture. It was my first visit to South Korea. During my post op consultation with Dr Lee, Dr Lee suggested that I do my upper eyelids too which was not in my plastic surgery journey - I did not realise that I had a lot of loose skin. I agreed to have the upper blepharoplasty done ten days after my facelift and neck lift. Healing was fast. I was born with double eyelids already but Dr Lee made them more beautiful after the surgery. Again, NO pain. Five days later, I had my Rib Rhinoplasty and mid-face augmentation surgeries carried out. By this time, I knew that I needed to let him choose the perfect nose for me. I told him I wanted to look like Song Hye-Kyo, the Korean Actress, but Dr Lee made me look better than Ms Song. Five days after recovery, I was shocked with the transformation. Everyone in the clinic was also shocked. His other patients were shocked. I was happy with my new look. My nose was in harmony with my face. I could not stop looking at myself. I was never vain when I was young but now I waved and smiled at myself whenever I went past a mirror. To recap, it is important to find a doctor who loves his job, who understands the term beautiful and who is meticulous. I believe positive thinking played a role too in looking beautiful. I trusted Dr Lee. He trusted me. All these procedures I had, took time to heal. I know, I will look better in another 6 months time or a year. The accommodation that was included in the professional fees was fantastic. I did not miss home. The care was sincere. A big thank you to Dr Lee, Joann and the staff. The daily spa treatment I had after my surgeries were great. Dr Lee will be able to advise anyone as to what they need. I love my new look. Everyone who stopped me from going through plastic surgery now said that I looked awesome!
