Facelift, brow lift and laser fail

It is now 2+ years post-op. First, the "facelift" was a complete waste of money, time, and energy. It made no difference at all. The dual brow lift was a complete failure- my brows are now more uneven than ever, and as stated previously, my left brow has no independent movement. A pronounced, deep indentation about an inch long developed on my upper left brow where the interior stitches were placed. It restricts even passive movement of the brow and is disfiguring. The laser left my previously smooth, clear skin rough as a nail file, hardened and red, with masses of broken blood vessels- ruined. These procedures have been referred to in follow-up consultations as "rough treatment." It is beyond disappointing.

Updated 18 months post-op

Since viewing the reply from Dr. Wright concerning fairness and accuracy, I decided to update my review. Everything I said in my original post is accurate. It is, in fact, somewhat understated. As for being fair, imo Dr. Wright overstated his skill with laser. He promoted his success with laser in every single visit for follow up on my nose and for botox or filler. He promised certain results, which we discussed several times. My skin needed very little correction- I just wanted the beautiful, fresh look that CO2 can produce, and didn't want to have to wear any makeup at all. Dr. Wright decided to use a DeepFX laser on my face (did not mention this to me pre-op). That laser is intended for use on severely sun damaged skin or for deep scarring. I had neither. It does not have the capability to produce the results Dr. Wright promised- reduce superficial wrinkles, even skin tone and texture. Absolutely is not capable of producing those results. I had a long conversation with the manufacturer's rep who was clear that the DeepFX is not recommended for the results I expected. So, is it now fair that I will be dealing with the damage to my skin for the foreseeable future, and probably for the rest of my life? Equally, is it fair that, having paid for a right and left brow lift, I am left with brows that are permanently and very obviously uneven and a large, noticeable scar on my upper left brow? And what about the fairness of the one-size-fits-all facelift where Dr. Wright did not even attempt to deliver the results he promised? He made a specific promise that he would move the fat pads in my cheeks up surgically, and eliminate the marionette lines. Nope. And I actually count myself lucky that he didn't attempt it, because that , in his hands, could have been a true catastrophe. But t does raise the question of whether Dr. Wright ever intended to do what he so confidently said he would- or whether this was just more salesmanship. I think the unfairness in this situation is Dr. Wright's, not mine.

Not What I Expected

Dr. Wright did a wonderful job restoring my nose after an accident, so without any hesitation I chose him to perform a facelift, brow lift, and CO2 laser. I expected to write a glowing review but unfortunately, I can't. The laser was and is a disaster. A year post-op, there are still masses of broken blood vessels especially on my cheeks and sides of my face. My previously smooth, clear skin is rough, red and bumpy. There are also areas of paper-white skin (hypopigmentation.) The 2 surgeons I consulted starting about 2-3 months post-op both advise these problems are from the (aggressive) laser procedure. The hypopigmentation is not reversible. The broken blood vessels may be treatable with a different laser with the associated cost and down time. The surgery had some bad results- the brow lift failed, my brows are still uneven as before, and my left brow now has little or no independent movement. Dr. Wright commented noticed the lack of movement 3 weeks post-op and commented "he may have hit a nerve". There is a very noticeable indentation on my upper brow, causing rippling in the skin around it, and my neck was drawn up way too tightly and looks older. I'm seeing another surgeon to try to sort these things out, but there really isn't a surgical solution at this point- botox, fillers and possibly a laser. As for benefit, there was no positive result from the laser- not one thing that was promised was delivered- and the issues with the face and brow lift far outweigh the minimal benefit. Along with being frustrated and disappointed, I was surprised by these bad outcomes, since, like all the reviewers on here, I thought very highly of Dr. Wright.

Also surprisingly, the experience with payment and follow up was equally disappointing. The procedure was postponed due to the pandemic. We kept rescheduling, but during the postponement, the staff shredded my cashier's checks taken in payment for the anesthesiologist and nurse- total $2600. They kept no records of the checks and didn't tell me they had been destroyed. When it came time for the rescheduled procedure, just before the pre-op appointment, the receptionist demanded I bring payment with me. I was quite surprised as I had already paid (as most people know, cashier's checks are like cash). My bank went above and beyond finding and replacing the checks, but the bank manager asked me a great question- "Was I sure I wanted to have surgery with an office that would do something so stupid?" While I moved heaven and earth to get the checks replaced in time, the office staff treated me like I was trying to get surgery without paying for it. Clearly they didn't understand what a cashier's check is. I would not have been upset had they been nice about it, but they weren't.

As for follow up, I was not able to come in during much of the pandemic, so when great red blotches started appearing on my face at about 2 months, I called Dr. Wright repeatedly to ask if he could tell me what was going on. Believe me, having large bloody-looking patches come up on your face is scary. I also texted and sent photos. He never returned any of my calls. When I was able to get into the office again, I asked him why he had not called me back. He said it was because he had "no definitive answer for me" and he didn't know what was causing the blood spots. It is strange he would not know, imo. And we were on good terms- why not call back a patient who clearly has a very real and potentially serious concern? So I consulted another surgeon (and eventually 2) who confirmed it was caused by broken blood vessels, and there were masses of them all over my face. Overall, the worst experience I have ever had with a cosmetic surgeon's office, or any doctor, for that matter.
