Adding two more photos to show the overall improvement. I think the lower blepharoplasty did a lot to improve the overall appearance of the lower eye area on both sides. It looks pretty good in most lighting situations and makeup goes on smoother and looks nicer. I just wish more of the fat had taken hold in the outer part of the eye area where I have had such a bad problem with hollowness for all these years. But fat is unpredictable and it can continue to change for six months or longer, so these may not be the final results yet.

Wonderful Oculoplastic Surgeon and Staff
In June of 2020 I had some filler placed under both eyes (Restylane - 1ml). I never liked the result as it looked lumpy and weird but I left it alone for about a year and a half hoping it would eventually dissolve on its own. Unfortunately it never did so in January 2022 I had a small amount of hyaluronidase injected into the under-eye area. The lumpiness of the filler was improved but over the next few weeks I developed a hollow look in the eye area and swelling in the malar area below it. I tried everything to get the situation to resolve including massage, red light therapy, expensive creams, and collagen supplements. But nothing worked and finally I started researching surgical options.
I first consulted with Dr Ghafouri of Scottsdale, AZ in September 2022 but I was very much afraid to have the surgery. Over the course of several consults he recommended that I have a lower blepharoplasty, fat transfer, and co2 laser. I finally had the surgery on December 1st, 2023 and it has now been about six weeks.
I am 100% happy with Dr Ghafouri as a surgeon and his wonderful staff. Everyone at this practice is amazingly kind, helpful, and professional. Diana the coordinator was incredibly patient with me as I was a very fearful and anxious patient. Dr Ghafouri himself is also super kind, thoughtful, and extremely experienced and skilled. I trust him completely and I would not hesitate to have another procedure with him.
The surgery itself went as well as it could, given my anxiety. I was scared but they calmed me down and I got through it fine. I was swollen for about three weeks, but not terribly uncomfortable. As for the outcome of the procedure, I'm still waiting to see what the final results will be. My under-eye area definitely looks better overall. Dr Ghafouri is a real pro and he does perfect, careful work. However my fear is that some of the fat that was transferred may have re-absorbed because now that all the swelling is gone I am noticing that I have more hollowness again than I would like. Fat transfer is unpredictable; some people need a second transfer and I may be one of them. Also results can continue to change for six months or longer. So there may be a Part II to this review if I need some sort of a touch up.
Overall I am very happy with Dr Ghafouri and his whole staff. :)As an incentive for posting a review, this reviewer received an entry into RealSelf’s monthly $500 gift card giveaway.
