Second Drain Finally Came Out Today!

I had the second drain in for almost three weeks! I was so glad to get it out. It started to feel really invasive. I am looking a little better each day, and I am so happy! The surgery was totally worth it!

Scary Weekend

By last Friday, I was 10 days post op. I had been recovering nicely until then. On this day, I began to have level 10 pain and swelling. I had to get two Vicodin when I had been down to taking one once a day. The Vicodin only held me four hours, if that. I started having fevers; my temp just kept going up. I called my surgeon's answering service. He ordered more pain meds and antibiotics. It was the worst pain I ever felt in my life. This morning, I went straight to his office. The situation was not as bad as I'd imagined. Turns out, my remaining JP drain was severely clogged. I stripped the drain, but he gently pushed on the area around the drain and stripped it. All kinds of clots, tissue, pus, and nastiness came down into the bulb. I have been able to drain it easily since this morning. The fever is gone, swelling is down, and pain level is maybe a 3 rather than a 10. Thank God!!!!

Day 5 Post -Op

Some of you may experience this, too. I have been itching like crazy in my trunk and belly area. When anything is healing, it itches. I have been taking Benedryl for itching. It helps me sleep and keeps me from being miserable. I also had the start of a yeast infection from taking Keflex. My doctor ordered Diflucan for me, and I've been eating yogurt. It helps.

Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
465 N. Belair Rd., Evans, Georgia

Haven't had the surgery yet. It's in two days! Yikes! Dr. Austin is board-certified and one of the top plastic surgeons in the US. I did my homework on Surgeon shopping. He is thorough and to-the-point. I love those qualities. We'll see how it goes!
