Miraculous Recovery!

Tomorrow marks 4 weeks since my drainless tummy tuck and lipo, and I could not be more thrilled with the results from Dr Lowen! I knew I wanted a surgeon who was board-certified, scientific, and straightforward rather than a sugar-coater, and that's exactly what I got.

The recovery has been exceptionally easy so far: Day 2 I was still very groggy from the anaesthesia, Days 3 and 4 I took painkillers as prescribed, but by Day 5 I was able to step down to Tylenol and by Day 10 I had no more pain plus the early purple bruising was much faded. Dr Lowen truly knows what he's doing and you can put yourself entirely in his hands without concern.

I wanted to share a couple of tips that super helped me with the quick recovery. The number one thing is that I slept and hung out in a zero-gravity reclining chair for the better part of a week instead of trying to sleep in a bed, and I truly cannot recommend it too highly because getting into/out of bed is kind of hell when your abs have just been surgically repaired. Also I made sure I had a sturdy cane available for the first few days because my balance was not fantastic and it felt good to have something to lean on as I tottered around. And finally I basically lived on bean soup and turkey breast for a first couple weeks because it had the best combination of nutrition to ease of consumption for me. Think about nutrition in advance and stock up on stuff that keeps well, because you are NOT going to feel like stepping out for a salad right after surgery.

Thx for sharing. How long was your surgery operation time, and how is your scar ? Thx

I think the surgery took 9 hours, but I was VERY anesthetized so my memory isn't superb. My scar is very long -- beyond each hip bone -- and I scar badly, but I'm 52 years old and have no ambitions to wear a string bikini :D I also tried Embrace scar therapy sheets on Dr Lowen's (sort of weak) recommendation, but honestly it's kind of an annoyance and I haven't been very consistent about it.

Four month update

Just thought I'd drop some photos of my stomach after 4 months. I'm happier with Dr Lowen's work than ever, I never dreamed I could look like this :) The scars on my right side are from a completely unrelated surgical procedure, has nothing to do with my tummy tuck.

Congratulations! How soon after surgery could you see the definition in your midline?

There was some right away, but it's gotten much better since I've been able to strength train again :)

I really feel your pictures show a wast, abdomen, and overall similar body shape. Your four months post op looks amazing. Are there scars that are reddish or pink after four months? Im most curious about the long term scars that stays. I’m hoping to have consultation and talk to Dr Lowen. Thanks so much!

Scars are 90% genetic! I do have a scar that is easy to hide under anything except a string bikini... but as you can see from the older surgical scars on my right side, I get them easily and I knew that before I had the surgery. The scars will be similar to any other scars you have in appearance and duration!

Someone messaged me and asked to see my scar. Sorry for the photo quality but it's not easy to take a shot of the thing without showing a lot of other things! :) Please keep in mind that I scar badly (see the surgical scars in my first photos, which were caused by the head of surgery at Stanford!) and it has only been about 7 or 8 months since my surgery.
