Who knew having a 14.3 HGB could give so much life?!?!?!
Hey sugah mommas! Your girl has made considerable progress since my last post. I guess I'll start from most recent accomplishments and go backwards. Yesterday, I had my pre-surgery testing with my PCP. Although it was my first time meeting with her since I changed insurance carriers because I got a new job back August, she was surprisingly supportive of my decision to have plastic surgery in the DR and agreed to see me after I return. I told her it is possible that I will have staples that will need to be removed when I get home, she said that's no problem, she or her nurses can remove those. She told me that one of her good friends was Dr. Aiesha Barton from the hit show "Atlanta Plastic" (Crawford Plastic Surgery) and she has two patients who recently went/returned from Columbia and Brazil for plastic surgery. I tried my luck a little further and told her I was worried about my hemo levels because it has to be at least a 12.7 to have my procedures, she said, "As long as you are not anemic, you don't have to worry." Then y'all know I had to ask about my meds to see if she would prescribe me some...she said of course I will...WHEN YOU COME BACK!:( I said Oh dear God please give me some oxycodone or sumthin cause I am afraid of the pain. This is where she started trippin and ran down some dumb list: 1) "Because you asked for oxycodone, you're not getting it because it's highly addictive"...but..but...I stammered and 2) as she looked at the list of post-meds Yily provided "Ronex is a pretty good pain medicine," she continued to look at the list, "I could prescribe Heparin to you right now, it's expensive, it'll be close to 250 alone." She started typing in all of the post-surgery medication on her medical doctor computer and told me what each medication was for. I was happy that what she told matched exactly to the description Yily provided under each medicine on the list (I won't post the list here, get your quote and you will know exactly what I'm talking about). The only med she was stumped on was KLOSSARA, she told me to ask Yily what was this because she couldn't find it on her computer. After reviewing the list one last time, her response about the meds was: "Baby, get your meds in the DR, it'll be much cheaper and plus you're an American citizen, they will take care of you. Let them take care of you. Besides, you don't want to go there with too much. Trust me." Chile, and then she went to talking about I must start drinking more water. At LEAST 64 oz starting today. She said I needed to up it to 80 oz a few days before I leave. I rolled my eyes and she said, put some lemon in it or something-look, you're the one who want to get all nipped and tucked, so you gotta make sure you are hydrated and healthy. I huffed and puffed and almost blew the building down until she said, "If I looked like you, I would be so happy, but as long as you're doing this for you, I support you." Awwwwww:) She told me we should be happy with what God gives us and I said, "Well the Lord said, that our youth will be renewed like the eagles, I guess this is a way that I'll have the renewed body of 21 year old!" She busted out laughing and sent me to get my blood work. I got my EKG, full blood panel, yadayadayada all that good stuff and I got my test results this morning, I am healthy as an ox! My BUN is a little low, so I emailed my dr how to get it up. But the best news is that my hemo is 14.3 shawty! Hey!!!! My surgery bestie said I can get a tt, bbl, lipo and some boobs with that, lol!! What I really want to add is buccal fat removal, but more on that later.
I bit the bullet on 2/1 and stopped being a cheapskate and bought the dang return flights on Delta. The tickets were actually a couple hundred dollars cheaper than I what I originally posted so that was a blessing. I am flying coach, y'all some ballers flying first-class and stuff lol but I have an aisle seat and the flight is 3 hours non-stop. I didn't request wheelchair service, I may need a note from Yily in order to get the service-am I right? I've been buying things here and there, but I really haven't bought any post-op supplies yet. I'm still to go through Diamond Care for those supplies but I better get the buying. I leave for the DR on 3/30! So many things to do, so little time! Well I did score a huge box of Poise pads absorbency level 6 for free. And my friend is having her wisdom teeth removed this month and asked if I still needed the pain meds. At first I thought, it wouldn't be right taking my friend's pain meds-as I too have had my wisdom teeth removed as an adult and it was hell on earth, pain I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy but then I thought she offered and you shouldn't be selfish and refuse what she's giving you so I said humbly, "Yes, my dear, I will take your meds and pay for your refill and yes, I'll take those too..." ROFL!
I'm glad Hubbz is going with me. He said he'll take care of me. He has been a trip during my journey and I love it! Hubbz been working out, lifting weights talking about, "DR here I come!" He asked me, what kind of measurements was I thinking about getting. I told him, 32-26-45. He started working out more talking about, I wasn't going to out do him. He is hilarious, but he better do what he gotta do, because I'm about to be banging!
If I ever needed a sign that this is the right time for me to do this, I got it about two-weeks ago from the alterations-lady. I went in to get a new pair of pants taking in at the waist and while she was pinning away I asked, could she please give me my measurements. She said, "Sure!' and skipped to the back to grab the measuring tape. She went around my chest. Then went round my waist. Then went around my hips. Then did all 3 measurements again, to be sure. She looked at me and said, "These measurements are no good. Chest is 36, Waist is 30, and Hips is 38. Your going to always have to get your pants altered." *blank stare* Yeah I'll continue to get them altered even after the DR because my booty will be bootyliciously huge and my waist will be itty bitty!
Well sugah mommas I will chime in when I order my supplies. Me and my surgery bestie are looking into getting a masseuse to come and do our lymphatic massages during out recovery stay. All recommendations are welcomed! I also want an esthetician who can come and give me a facial, remove these dark circles and fine lines around my eyes, and hyaluronic acid filler for nasal folds. I have a few prospects, but I'll fill y'all in once we confirm.

Hi dolls! I am not much of a blogger-but decided...
Hi dolls! I am not much of a blogger-but decided to come out of lurking. I'm 33 years old, married to Hubbz for 11 years and mom of 3- ages 17, 9, and 8 and I admit it...I let myself go. You'd think living in Atlanta, I would have kept up with the latest fashions, stayed fit, and never leave the house without my hair being slayed, clothes and shoes on point, and face beat, but nah, the only thing I've prided myself on these last 11 years is being an awesome mommy, supportive wife, and climbing the corporate ladder. I thought I was holding it down-I'm 5'1, 148lbs, and can fit in (most) of my size 6/8 clothes, I work, I clean, I cook, I check homework, I love the Lord and to church-what else did I need to do? Yeah, that's what I thought until having a come to Jesus moment with my husband in October 2015. He told me he loved me, told me how wonderful I was, and that I was his poster girl, but...wait for it...I need to work on my physique namely my stomach. Now mom's y'all know them fighting words if Hubbz even thinks of mentioning anything about the foopah (hanging belly fat over the waistline) and stretch marks on your belly after carrying and nurturing THEY kids for 9+months??!?! But ladies, you'd be proud of me because I took his constructive criticism (this time) like a champ! I started working out and eating better, but I still felt like I wasn't tight enough and wondered if something more can be done. I wanted a clean slate, I wanted a more defined curvy body that I had before them kids. It took me a long time to accept that I was worth the "extra" money, the extra effort, and the extra attention and it was ok to think of myself first sometimes-before the Hubbz, before the kids, before the house, the job, the dog, etc...etc. That's a whole story by itself-but here's what led me to cosmetic surgery: I saw a friend who I haven't seen in about 7 months and she looked AMAZEBALLS! She is about 40 with 3 kids as well but was on the heavy side, oddly shaped side. She would always complain about her stomach, flat butt, and say she was built like a linebacker, lol! Yeah "was" because my sister has the body of a video vixen now! I saw her in November-about one-month after the 'heart-to-heart' talk with Hubbz (see how God timing works?) and I immediately asked what she had been doing because she looked great! She looked at me and sais, "Oh hunni I paid for this! I got a tummy tuck, lipo, and fat transfer to my butt and hips (what I now know is bbl)." *THUD* As soon as she said this something clicked and I was like this is what I may have been missing! I got on my game and started researching!
I stalked RS, IG, FB groups and the web and decided I wanted to go to the DR for my makeover. I sent requests for quotes and my pics to all the DR greats Robles, Cabral, Duran, Almonte, and Yily. I did this during the Christmas holidays and received very quick replies from Robles, Almonte, and Yily-still haven't heard from Cabral, but received Duran's quote in January. Every doctor recommended a Tummy Tuck, full back, abdomen, and armpit area lipo (after I asked, Yily said she would lipo my inner thighs without an additional cost). I presented my findings and my quotes to Hubbz. At first he was scared because of the thought of surgery itself, but after we talked and talked some more I told him that I thought about it and prayed about it and I have a peace about this decision. He told me he's behing me 110% but has to go to the DR with me for the surgery.
So here's what I have done while I've been on lurk mode...drumroll please
I am confirmed with Dra Yily de le Santos for March 31, 2016
Yily's staff is amazing-very responsive, very patient, and always addresses me as "sweetie" (love that)
My all inclusive rate for surgery, transportation and recovery house for me and Hubbz is 5900.00 minus the 300.00 deposit.
My RH is confirmed with Kindness Recovery House. Conrad has been incredible, very personable and quick to respond, communicating with him has been a breeze on WhatsApp. I will provide a better review when I actually get to the flat side.
I bought my departing flight with Spirit during their fare sale but will have to book return flight on Delta since it's the only airline with non-stop flights from SDQ to ATL. So not looking forward to booking this flight, it's a whooping *wait for it* 1266 for the both of us! And that's not first class. Should I be tripping?!?! Or just book the dang flight? I'm cheap ok? I digress.
When I first started my journey-I went beast mode and was taking 65 mgs of iron 4x's a day with the Super B-Complex AND PureAbsorb. Baaaaddddd idea! I started feeling like crap, nauseated, lethargic, snappy-heck I thought I was preggo (but I had my tubes tied and if I were pregnant-it would be an immaculate conception and I don't think Father God needs another one of those-Praise Jesus!) So I stopped the up the hemo in one day strategy and started backed slowly. Now I have been taking GNC Women's Iron Complete which 30 mg of absorbable iron, Folic Acid, Vitamin B-12, and Vitamin C and I use my Nutribullet and drink beet smoothies (beets, pineapple, kale, (sometimes ginger), and honey 3x's a week.
So, aside from booking the retuning flight, I am stocking up on post-op supplies and setting my pre-surgery testing with my PCP. Now that I found Diamond Care & Recovery I will go through them to build a custom post-op package for my bbl, tt, and lipo surgery. I'm a little embarrass to say this but, the only worry I have is scoring some good pain meds and muscle relaxers to take to the DR for after my surgery, lol! I need to know where to go if my PCP does not prescribe some meds for me. I feel a little like a junkie right now, "Hey psst, you know where I can get some oxycodone, Percocet, Valiums?" LOL
That's all I have for now. I'll keep you posted when I book my flights and when I score some meds!
