I drove in to meet with Dr. Mascaro as I was 900% convinced he would be the doctor to perform my lip lift. Yes, I had already decided (based on RealSelf/Instagram reviews). I previously had Skype consults with doctors in Los Angeles, Colorado, and Seattle and two in-person consults with doctors in Illinois but their prices were near $7,000 for a lip lift! That seemed a tad outrageous and I wanted to keep my options open. His staff was nice, not overly friendly like all views rave about, but I could get past that. First impressions of Dr. Mascaro were so disappointing. I kid you not, I cried on my drive home because I felt confused and stressed out, having been looking into this surgery for several YEARS now. I came prepared with questions and the entire discussion made me feel like I was inconveniencing his day. He must have yawned, I kid you not, over 15 times. So I kept trying to be positive and express my concerns and questions, he keeps yawning and his bedside manners just weren’t present. Everyone says how friendly and caring he is, I saw none of that. I met with a bored, tired doctor who acted like he couldn’t wait for me to leave. I absolutely felt like he didn't want to perform the surgery on me, not because I wasn't a candidate (which he said I was) but because he just didn't feel like it. He was also very firm on taking off less skin than the other doctors I had consults with, but I have seen that is a common reaction of his in other RealSelf reviews (the kind where you have to dig deep and read ALL of the replies). I’m not looking to remove excessive amounts of my philtrum, but I want enough removed to notice a difference. So sadly I am back to the drawing board. Pondering on Dr. Jeffrey Spiegel or I may simply settle for one of the overpriced surgeons in Seattle, WA.
