WORTH IT
Why I Chose to Get My Facelift in Jeju Island, South Korea – My Honest Experience with VIP Plastic Surgery

Getting a facelift is a big decision—and deciding to do it overseas makes it even bigger. After a lot of research, thought, and conversations, I chose to have my procedure done at VIP Plastic Surgery in Jeju Island, South Korea. I’m so glad I did, and I wanted to share my experience for anyone who might be considering the same path.

The Journey There: Long but Worth It

Our trip started from the U.S., with a total of 15 hours in the air, a 7.5-hour layover in Hong Kong, and another 3.5-hour flight to Jeju Island. It was definitely a long haul, but the moment we landed, I felt like I was in good hands. VIP had arranged for Mr. Park to meet us right at the arrival gate—a small touch, but one that made a huge difference after such a long trip.

The Welcome at VIP

From day one, the staff at VIP made me feel safe, welcomed, and well taken care of. Everyone was polite, calm, and reassuring, which really helped ease my nerves. Surgery of any kind is a little scary, but the environment at VIP is designed to help you relax.

The clinic provides up to 20 days of stay without any extra charge, which is incredibly helpful for recovery. They also serve three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) for the first four days after surgery. These thoughtful details made the experience feel less like a medical trip and more like a wellness retreat.

What Recovery Looked Like

Post-op care was thorough and consistent. I received oxygen therapy twice a day for five days, along with daily facials, which helped with swelling and healing. Once I was feeling better, the VIP team even arranged a custom tour of Jeju Island—a lovely way to enjoy a bit of travel and take my mind off the recovery process.

Why Dr. Lee Was the Right Choice for Me

One of the reasons I chose VIP Plastic Surgery was because of Dr. Lee’s reputation and the clinic’s personalized care approach. As a diabetic, I knew I couldn’t take any risks with surgery. Dr. Lee and his team were extremely thorough—they did not proceed until they were absolutely confident that it was safe to do so. That level of care and attention gave me peace of mind that I couldn’t put a price on.

The Results So Far

It’s still early—my face is swollen and healing—but I can already tell the results are coming in beautifully. The contours are forming, and people around me have already noticed the difference. I feel confident that, once the healing is complete, I’ll be thrilled with the final result.

Final Thoughts

There are many talented plastic surgeons in the U.S., but my experience in South Korea was something special. The care I received at VIP Plastic Surgery—especially as someone with a medical condition—was exceptional. The staff, the setting, the thoughtful services… everything combined to create a smooth and supportive experience.

If you’re thinking about a facelift or cosmetic procedure and considering doing it abroad, I hope my story helps you make an informed decision. For me, this journey to Jeju Island wasn’t just about looking younger—it was about doing something for myself, in the right way, with the right people.

Hi Girlyme,

Thank you for the detailed review. I , too am planning to have a facelift with Dr Lee in Oct but will be travelling from Canada.

I am quite nervous and hope that you can help answer some questions related to your experience.

1. What surgeries did you have exactly?

2. Were facials and post op recovery services provided for the entire duration of your 20 day stay?

3. Did you opt for the meal plan for the duration of your stay or did you go out and what is your recommendation?

4.Are the rooms equipped with a TV ? How did you do your laundry and are there housekeeping services provided for changing bed linen, vacumming etc..?

5. How much money would you recommend bringing for your stay in Jeju? Did you bring it in Korean Won cash or did you buy a card and which type of card?

6. How was your trip back post surgery? Were you still swollen and was there any pain related to air pressure when flying or any dry eyes discomfort with the dry cabin air?

7. How long has it been since your surgery and how are you healing so far? Has most of your swelling gone down and have you experienced any tingling or numbness?

8. How did you make your payments? Did you send wire transfers after the initial deposit and/ or use credit cards or both?

I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my numerous questions as input from previous patients like yourself is invaluable and so helpful in my own journey ahead.

Thank you very much,
