Tired of Hiding Behind Make-up! 60mg a day - Dallas, TX
ORIGINAL POST
I've never had major issues with acne growing up...
WORTH IT$30
I've never had major issues with acne growing up but I would get a few pimples here and there. About 2 years ago I decided to stop taking birth control and my acne decided it wanted to show up and show out! Along with stopping birth control and using the wrong make-up, my face was HORRIBLE! I was so insecure it was unbelievable. I hated looking at myself in the mirror...I hate having to wear make-up just to make a store run...I hated turning down dates because I knew my blemishes would still show no matter how much foundation I used. People will never understand how you feel when they're not the one with the issue. I've tried several medications and face products but nothing has officially worked. My doctor suggested Accutane and of course my family and friends tried to talk me out of taking it due to the side effects. I decided that either I'm going to give it a go and pray that it works or I'm going to walk around the rest of my life being insecure. I decided to start Accutane for ME. Fyi: The pictures posted isn't the worst my face has been. My face has actually cleared up since my last extreme breakout but I keep getting pimples that's stopping my face from being 100% clear.

Day 5
Day 5 and I'm finally starting to feel a little dryness on my face. My lips feel normal due to me always keeping them moisturized. I have felt a little shoulder discomfort and have had a few white heads pop up. Anyone have any advice for a good face/body/lip moisturizer? I'd like to start moisturizing my face and body as soon as possible.

I would recommend Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion for your face and body. It is fragrance free and keeps you moisturised all day! It is recommended for damaged skin following dermatological treatments. Perhaps use that twice per day. For you lips, I recommend Dr. Dan's Cortibalm.

Aquaphor for the lips. I'm currently on day 6 of treatment. Definitely starting to feel some dryness as well. I would use eucerin, cetaphil, or cerave for a moisturizer on the face. Really any moisturizer that is gentle and no-comedegenic will work. Best of luck!

I slept with Aquafor all over my face, lips, and inside my nose! You can use saline nasal spray and gel eye drops too!

Hello! I'm in Mesquite and I totally understand where you are coming from. I'm ready to be makeup free too! Suggestion on moisturizer and this is just what I use that works for me. Cocoa butter for my body, Vaseline or aquaphor for the lips, CeraVe moisturizer for the face and a really good SPF. I love the Neutrogena Sport Sunscreen of 70+. I really hope that helps. Good luck on your journey. We will be make up free and flawless soon!

Thank you!! The products you listed for the face...do they mix good with your makeup? I've been using primer and cetaphil daily facial moisturizer and it makes my makeup look weird!

When I use a primer I don't have really any issues but without the primer, I would have to use a good powder because for some reason the Sunscreen and moisturizer makes my face super shiny, no oily or anything just shiny for some reason so when I put my make up on it gives it this oily appearance even though my face isn't oily at all. I use an all natural powder and even that has SPF in it lol. The sun is NOT getting me lol. Cetaphil is good too, I just like the CeraVe a little better.

Face becoming darker/redder
I've been taking 60mg a day of Accutane for almost 2 weeks and I've notice that my face has gotten 2 to 3 shades darker. The rest of my body hasn't change only my face...is this normal??? I've been wearing spf15 and recently bought spf50 but I hardly ever go into the sun...my most sun exposure is when I'm driving. Please help! Will my normal color return?

yes--the redness goes away. I'm on my 4th treatment, and the last three all went back to normal. I'm on month 2 of my 4th (and, hopefully last) treatment right now, and my face is really red and sore. Hang in there!

I went on accurate in the early 90s when it was new and I have never had major acne again. It is totally worth it. It gets much worse beforei t gets better, and then you never deal with acne again. I love it!!

The discolouration after you finish your course should fade fairly quickly - within one - two months.
How are you feeling as your course progresses? Is it effecting your emotions?

Good! I was hoping the discoloration wasn't permanent. And I feel fine. I have had a sad moment (sometimes mother nature is the main cause of that though) but I try to remain positive about everything!
