How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.
If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

SMAS Lift Costa Rica ..!
I'm starting out with a 5 star review because of my experience with the process so far, but have not have my surgery yet.
I have been looking in the mirror for years and just felt that gravity had taken over. The bags under my eyes (hereditary) were getting worse, and the nice jawline I always had was disappearing. The lateral third of my eyebrows are really drooping (I am hoping that in person, Dr Lev will see the need for a Casteneres brow lift vs an upper blepharoplasty). I've never had prominent cheekbones, but it's becoming harder and harder to see them. I'm 51, and know that it's better to have it earlier rather than later. I am fortunate to be in a position at this point in my life to have the surgery and take the time to recover, so I've decided now is the time. I also want to get out of the Texas heat for couple of weeks, which is why I wanted to do it at this time of year!
After extensive research on the type of surgery I felt I needed, and 3 very qualified PS consults in my area in the past year (who agreed that a high-SMAS was the best option), I decided to go with Dr Lev because of 1) All the great reviews and results, and 2) Cost. I was quoted prices in my area at more than twice what I've been quoted by Dr Lev. I will be able to fly round trip, have 2 weeks of aftercare, and have my high SMAS lift, upper/lower blepharoplasty, etc. for much less than just the surgery in the US. More importantly, I've been impressed with all the wonderful reviews of this Dr and all the natural looking results of his work I've seen on this site. This site and Dr Lev's reviews are the reason I considered going out of the country for this surgery, so I wanted to "give back" and share my experience. My surgery is scheduled for 8/30/18.
Prior to contacting Didi, Dr Lev's liaison based in the US (she shares her PS experience with Dr Lev on their website), I read EVERY review of Dr Lev on Real Self, and completely read EVERYTHING on their website. I did search after search to find something negative about Dr Lev, but could only find 1 negative review which I, as well as others, found questionable. Any questions I had that were not addressed on their site were cheerfully answered by Didi. I had specific questions for Dr Lev regarding specific procedures, and my email was forwarded to, and answered by him.
Contained in many Real Self reviews were patient experiences at the various recommended aftercare places, and based on that, I've decided to stay at Mercedes' place. Most everything I read about her care and the food provided were overwhelmingly good, so I felt I would receive the best care there. I have some dietary (dairy, gluten) restrictions, so I'll be bringing my own substitutions, and apparently there is a Walmart with everything I should need within short walking distance, as well as others things I'll probably want to explore if I can. Her place is also within walking distance of Dr Lev's office.
At this point, the only regret I have is not being able to travel around and experience more of Costa Rica while I'm there. I've wanted to go there for a while, so maybe if I don't look too scary the last couple of days I'm there I can get out and do something!
I'll be posting more when I'm down there, and work on adding pictures. I'm also having some dental work done at Prisma Dental. The appointment was set up through Didi, who gives them rave reviews, and I'll be doing a review of my experience with them, as well.
