After loosing 150lbs over the past 3 years... I went from 330lbs to 180lbs through diet and exercise. I've maintained this weight since October, 2014. I had a significant amount of excess skin in my abdomen. Thankfully the only other place was in my butt. My doctor, Dr. Robert Heck, recommended we do a extended abdominoplasty with liposuction of my flanks and then re-approach my butt in another procedure if necessary but he thought I may be pleased with just the results of an extended tummy tuck.

I was very nervous, this being my first surgery, but after reading about experiences on this site, calmed my nerves a little. I can tell you so far, I've been really surprised how well I'm doing and a lot less pain than I expect. I will say that I'm in pretty good shape (I ran my first half-marathon a few weeks ago!), so that may have had a lot to do with it the less pain, and they only had to cut skin, no abdominal work . But so far I've most'y been a little sore.

One of the best investments I made was renting a medical bed for my house. It cost around $240 for a month's rental (they rent by the month but I'm guessing I may only need it for a week). Having a bed that can contour to exactly where I feel comfortable, has be perfect!

I'm going to post some more pictures as my progress goes along. I'm going to start weening myself off the pain meds tomorrow.

I'm feeling really good. Just a little sore. Since I had never had surgery before, I was so worried that I would feel a lot of pain. It has actually just been a little soreness and discomfort but no pain. I think the most pain was when they ripped the tape off my chest hair from the heart monitor..lol

Ouch,  a free chest waxing with the surgery:)

Glad you are doing so well and not in any horrible pain.  That will definitely help your recovery process.  As you recover you will go through waves of soreness and tightness which is all normal.  Keep us up to date on how you are coming along.

Day 6 Feeling Great

I'm on day 6 and feel good. I haven't had much pain at all, just sore. I have 2 drains in. I have an appointment in 8 days with my doctor and will probably get them out then. As I mentioned above, renting a hospital bed when I can incline just to the right place to be comfortable has been fantastic. Do yourself a favor if you are going to do this, rent a bed!
