Hi all,
I found this site in hopes of becoming a little more knowledgeable and finding some comfort from others and their journeys. Let me start by saying I've been unhappy with my first BA (40 years ago) because they soon after encapsulated and have been uncomfortable and hard ever since. I wasn't aware of this until someone kindly brought it to my attention. I started with zero breast tissue so really didn't know what breast were supposed to feel like. Ha Ha! Anyhow it's been double padded bras, trying to sew in pads to dresses etc. that your supposed to go bra-less (not boob-less) in. Even my swim suits had to be helped out. Not real fun or cool since I tend to be a down to earth gal and it's Wayyyyyy to much fussing for me. I've done a lot of research on the web etc. for a surgeon I would trust and be comfortable with. After some extensive searching I've decided to meet with Dr. Aaron Smith on April 8th. I'm so prepared and excited now that I REALLY wish my consultation was sooner (fingers crossed).
I've already got my blood work done, MRI done on both breast as a follow up on MRI and ultrasound (leak) from 4 years ago. Good news..., no progression of anything including leak which was non suspicious and both envelopes are in tact. My Husband loves my currant body (he's a butt man) but decided on his own that he would cash out his Profit Sharing and do this for me. We've been together 20 years and he said I've never asked for anything big and he wanted to this for ME! Of course I started crying because I was so overwhelmed by his kind gesture. I than said, YES, YES, YES!!!!! He said we could call it my 62nd Birthday present. Call it what you want I'm a happy girl :-)

Pics in the same bra/top I'll have on when the new girls arrive :-)

Ok, so I'm a little older than a lot of the ladies on here but I thought now that I'm on board I should re-take pics so we can all have a better idea of results. I was really hesitant about posting pics in the first place but spending time on this site has helped me relax a bit. Everyone seems to be so supportive of each other and I love it!!! I know I'm in for a lot of pain from what I've read but "Hey" no pain no gain. My consultation is coming up and I've been going back and forth between excited and nervous. Is there anyway I can fast forward to at least 1 week post op?? Ok. I know that would be totally unfair. "Just sayin".

I'm with you..wake me one week post op. I'm such a chicken!

Here's hoping us being more than prepared to be screaming at the top of our lungs can say afterwards "Ok, that really hurt but I survived and things can only get better". Kinda like having a baby..., LOL. I wish you all the luck in the world :-)

So when do you think you'll have your surgery? What size and what kind of implants?
March 26, 2016
We'll my consultation is April 8th and I'm hoping since I've already got my MRI's and blood work done, that it will be the next day. I know, time for a reality check. I'm hoping soon afterwards. I want to go with the Mentor Memory Gel Smooth round moderate profile (natural). I'm really not sure about size, definitely more than I'm currently sporting.
March 26, 2016
Mine are first generation silicone 300 cc overs. I like the natural look too. My doc uses Natrelles but don't know if Inspiras or not. Also not sure if he's gonna do dual plane ( partial under muscle ). I know he's doing a capsulectomy. I don't really want bigger, just a bit firmer/ lifted without regular lift. I'm probably gonna have to go with more cc just to fill out a bit more. They have gotten a bit misshapen in the last few years. They have served me well for 35 years tho. Good luck on your journey. I'm routing for you! Linda
March 26, 2016
I went over the muscle the first time and also need a capsulectomy. I've read that on a revision/capsulectomy they should go under the muscle if the first surgery was over the muscle and vice versa. I'm going under the muscle this time to avoid encapsulation. They say under the muscle protects the implant and also lowers the chance of encapsulation. Also allows a more thorough view of the breast tissue should you need a Mammogram in the future. Sounds like your going with a good size. Routing for you as well. Who know I might get lucky and have surgery first so you can get the low down. Ha Ha.
March 26, 2016
I want whatever will prevent capsular contracture again. My doc likes Natrelles. I hope he uses the no touch technique with the Keller Funnel. I'm glad I'm staying at an aftercare facility. I'm not as much of a baby when I'm not being cared for by my husband! Lol
March 26, 2016
I agree with the whole Husband thing. Feels so good that they want to really be there and yes, it can tend to bring out a bit more boo hooing!!! Ya kinda feel like have to suck it up at an aftercare place. I've heard they'll have you doing jumping jacks before you know it! "Just Kidden".
March 26, 2016
I'm leaving my home in CA on April 23 with first surgery on the 27th and the second on April 30th. Because I'm having so much done I don't know how I'll feel post op. I think he'll do breasts and body first. Then the face/ neck/ eyes. Give me lots of painkillers! I hope I don't get encapsulated again. I hope he uses the no touch method with the Keller Funnel. That's also supposed to help with CC.
March 26, 2016
Yes, I've heard the Keller Funnel is supposed to be a good way to go. They say the encapsulation is brought on by bacteria and I think their more careful now and it's got to be a safer surgery than a few years back. "Wow" your going for the whole ball of wax. Good for you, we only live once!! Your brave to get both surgeries so close together but maybe that's better so you can get that episode all done and put behind you. Than it will definitely be time to break out the margarita!!!
March 26, 2016
You read my mind! Margaritas are the only way to go. It sucks I'm not supposed to drink for a whole month before I go. Some have said after surgery alcohol causes swelling....damn. the doc refuses to do face and body surgery at the same time, safety is first with him. I'm all for that!
March 26, 2016
Yes, It looks like we can't break out the margaritas until the worst of post op is done. Now that'll be something to celebrate. It's great you found a doc that sounds like he'll be taking awesome care of you.

Sorry about the redundancy in my replies. I posted an answer but it didn't show up so I rewrote it but then the first reply showed up later. Oh well.....technology! Just like men, can't live with and can't live without! Lol

Great pre-op information from three weeks out to day of surgery and afterwards.
sea00049March 27, 2016
Hi ladies, I've been doing a lot of research over the last month and tonight I found some great information on a surgeons site giving Great pre-op information from three weeks out to day of surgery and afterwards.
http://www.drjoannelopes.com/cosmetic-surgery-preparation-virginia-beach/#threedays
She touches on a lot of things I've already read up on and agree on as well as somethings ya just don't think about. It covers the BA surgery, also Facial and Lipo. I hope you can get something from this information.

That info was very helpful, especially the list of no-no drugs. I liked the timeline for when supplements and special nutrition should be implemented. Thanks for that. My doctor also has similar info for his preop patients but not nearly as Indepth.
March 27, 2016
I thought of you when I found this information since you'll have a few things going on and anything that might help it all go more smoothly sounds good to me! Yes the timeline was VERY helpful for me as well.

I've been researching pain management because I do get dizzy and nauseous easily and narcs don't agree with me. I've heard of local pain relievers that can be placed directly into the breast pocket etc. and thought this info might be helpful to someone. Sounds like there could be up to a $300 charge for it? Here's a video of Dr. explaining it.

They say it is more effective than a pain pump (plus you don't have tubes hanging out of you that have to be removed).

I can't wait to see the results, good luck & keep us updated!
Wow, you've had your implants for 40 years? I can only think of 1 or 2 other members in which they had their implants that long, or longer. Just reading your pre op review made me excited for your revision! Here is a forum of otherĀ members getting revisions this spring. You might find it helpful. Looking forward to following your journey!
