Fixed Lip Lift After Going to LA Doctor

This review is long overdue, but I was so scarred (literally and metaphorically) from a prior surgeon. I came to Mascaro 9 months post op from a lip lift and a nasal base suspension (an attempt to fix the scar left from the original surgery). My top lip had minimal to no movement, was in a constant state of numbness and my scar, even after receiving 2 prior CO2 treatments from first surgeon, was atrophic and purple and on the left side it was cut way too low. From my initial consultation to my treatments, Mascaro gave so much of his time to explain what he saw wrong and the best way to approach it. He also genuinely empathized with my situation. I speak publicly for a living, and he said first and foremost, I needed to be treated medically. I saw Mascaro 4 times for CO2 and 5fu & kenalog shots (an attempt to reduce swelling above top lip and return movement). For whatever reason Mascaro's CO2 actually worked on my scar, the LA surgeon's did nothing. And even though Mascaro couldn't raise the actual incision line scar, he was able to flatten and lighten it and return enough movement to my top lip. Unfortunately my original surgeon left no room for error, so Mascaro could not cut my scar out, as I didn't have enough skin left to do so. I will say that the lip lift did create balance to my face and the shape of my lip was nice, but internally, I must be botched. I know another patient of my LA surgeon just had scar tissue removed and was told that her muscle was fastened in places it shouldn't have been. I know this is my issue too. Do I regret not going to Mascaro initially? Of course. But I am forever grateful he was able to help this much and with a minimally invasive approach. Ultimately, I want to go back once more (I am now 1 year and 4 months from my original surgery) to see if the only way to fix my muscle is through surgery. I'm so scared to open myself back up for something that has been cosmetically fixed, but I also don't want to spend the rest of my life constantly aware that I have a top lip. There is till numbness and tension at all times. I included all these details so you have a full scope of my issues, and the risks involved when not going to the right doctor. All and all, Mascaro was a class act, Lauren in his office helped me tremendously and I'm eternally grateful to have found this practice.
