I should begin by saying that the results of my surgeries with Dr. Oh Myung June are entirely unnoticeable. Nobody, including my closest friends and family, were able to notice any changes to my face. No questions, no inklings or odd stares fixating on the affected areas of my face were ever made. My life resumed per usual- and that's exactly what I was hoping for.
Regen in particular was my choice of hospital almost entirely due to Dr. Oh Myung June. His professionalism and sympathy for my situation was stronger than the five other hospitals I had visited in Gangnam-Gu. He speaks very good English which is especially admirable for a medical professional who treats many international patients, and being able to talk to him directly without my translator was a great luxury - but that's not to say that my translator wasn't appreciated. Suyeon was very friendly and acted as a very professional liaison between myself and the rest of the hospital staff. She was also very attentive electronically and communicated with me even outside of her daily hours which I found to be very dedicated.
My only complaint regarding Regen was that the hospital itself does not feature the kind of state-of-the-art architecture that other hospitals in Gangnam-Gu do, but that's purely an aesthetic complaint. Their operating room in particular is not visually pleasing but then again, it's designed for function over form. I visited other hospitals that were much prettier but I wasn't as assured by their consultations as I was with Regen and in the end, that's what truly matters. Instinct played a huge part in deciding which hospital to choose and I'm glad I chose the one that I did.
The changes I articulated for my face were slight and meticulous, which is something that Regen was happy to help with. All in all my forehead was lowered roughly one centimeter by removing excess skin and restitching the hairline and my chin was extended from its original position to harmoniously even out my jaw and side profile. These particular alterations were sought after years of an unsatisfied feeling in my own appearance, in photographs especially, despite everyone else's assurance that I looked fine - attractive, even. This reassurance extended to not only a group of twenty-somethings that I had met the night before my surgery outside of a karaoke bar in Jamwon-Dong who pleaded with me not to go through with my endeavors, but also to the team of surgical assistants that I met in the OR - seriously, as I lie down on the operating table, my translator told me that they collectively agreed I was very handsome and were wondering what I saw wrong with my face.
My justification for continuing to go through with my surgeries was summed up in the sense that it didn't matter what other people thought - regardless of whether they had negative or positive views on my face. It mattered what I thought, what I wanted and what I liked. I was the only one who should make the decision, and I'm glad I did because I'm much more secure and happy with myself and my appearance. Dr. Oh was able to achieve the two cosmetic alterations with one seamless procedure.
All in all, while there is a slight scar beneath my hairline that extends into my temples, it's difficult to notice and will continue to fade over time. This was something that Dr. Oh warned me of beforehand as well, so I knew that it would be there. My chin looks completely natural - the swelling took a mere 10-12 days to fully dissipate and everything looks as though I was born with it. Overall I am happy that I went through with the surgeries and would like to thank the Regen staff for everything. Even though I'm the only one who finds myself any more beautiful, that's all that matters in the end. The fact that the results are invisible to the naked eye is exactly what I wanted - "sometimes when you've done everything right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all."
