Well, I decided it is time to do something about my jowls and the double chin. I am working on losing weight but even when I have been my ideal weight, I still had those pesky jowls. I suppose there's also a genetic component, but my mom had that taken care of years ago, so it's hard to tell how much is genetic and how much is cupcakes.
I had my consult with Dr. S and he is very clear that there will be an improvement, not perfection. I like how he isn't interested in offering me false hope and likes to make sure my expectations are grounded in reality. The nurse, Elizabeth, gave me my requisition for blood work and off I went.
I went for my pre-op appointment on July 29th and they gave me my prescriptions for the day of the surgery and after. We went over what to expect. Elizabeth shared her insider tips like to have an old towel handy because there will be drainage from the incisions.
I will be awake for the surgery but will be taking some kind of sedative to keep me calm and Zen.
I'm not too worried about the surgery, more about the bruising afterward. Also, I am not looking forward to the compression garment. Otherwise, I'm excited to get this done and enjoy the rest of the summer. Fingers crossed there's minimal bruising and the pain can be managed with Tylenol. I will let you know.

It went well. We arrived at 7:30. They got my son’s contact info an escorted me back to get prepped. Washed my face, changed into a gown, took an antibiotic and something to relax.
Dr. S came in and marked the areas we were working on. We are working on my old too. So I had 5 incision marks. He asked if I had another questions. I didn’t.
When everything was ready and I was relaxed, Dr. S arrived and he began the procedure. Everything was numb so there was no pain. It felt like pulling yarn through a needle. It wasn’t like a knife through butter. There was resistance and some pulling and tugging. It was an odd sensation but it was over before I knew it.
Then Simone helped me get the compression garment on and we left.
Had lunch and took a Tylenol and I’m heading for a nap. No pain right now. Just very swollen and my incision are leaking.

Post Op Appointment

No pain last night just some tenderness. Took a regular Tylenol and chilled till bed time.
Want to m post-op appointment this morning. Dr. S wanted to check my muscle strength in my jaw. He said it all looked good. Simone gave me my post care instructions and I was off for he shower.
Still haven’t needed any meds today. There’s still some swelling but there’s already a noticeable improvement. My neck and chin are still pretty numb and it kinda tingles when I touch it.
The incisions are very tiny and they haven’t been leaking. So all in all, I’m pretty happy with the procedure and highly impressed with Dr. S.
I’ll update with more pics in the days to come.

Thanks for your update. I'm glad recovery doesn't seem like it's been too bad
