I underwent jaw and chin angular surgery 1 year ago under Dr. Marc Dupere’s care. I was pleasantly surprised when I first met him for my virtual consultation, he seemed very kind and understanding. He has a very quirky way about him that drew me to his clinic. I decided to book with their office and fly to Toronto for my procedure. After approximately 2-3 months I began to have complications. Dupere brushed it off as if it was normal for healing. Eventually I had to go on IV antibiotics for 6 weeks and return to Toronto to remove one of the implants. I asked him if the other implants would be alright and he assured me that the others were secure and the infection could not spread. When checked under an x ray one of the implants had dislodged, he did not want to remove it at the same time as it would take too much time. At this point I was at surgery number 2, being charged for both. I waited another few weeks and the infection came back, Dr. Dupere had misdiagnosed me and I was taking the incorrect antibiotic all along. The dislodged implant was also the issue all along, not the one he removed. I was required to once again go on antibiotics for 3 months. At no point did Dupere ever apologize for misdiagnosis or insecurely fitting the implants, causing the infection in the first place as I later found out. Every time I discussed this with him he suggested that it was my fault and the issue was that I picked the incorrect size for my face. If I was picking the incorrect size for my face why did he not suggest something else so these complications did not occur? I then once again had to go under surgery for a total of 3 surgeries and a total of 5 months being hooked up to an IV 3 times a day.
Unfortunately I misjudged Dr. Dupere’s personality as trusting and genuine. He and his office left a bitter taste in my mouth. Once they have their money from you, you will be treated like cattle to them. Due to Dr. Dupere’s incompetence, I have dealt with these complications for the last year. As well I have had to bear and pay for all 3 surgeries. Be very cautious trusting your health with this man and his practice.
