WORTH IT
Hi RS Community -
First, I will say thank you to all you who have done reviews and been so brave to post your photos and stories. If it weren't for that, I am not sure I would be writing here today. Hope my story can give others the same courage.
My story is similar to most here, have disliked my forehead forever and have wanted this procedure since I first saw it back in high school on spring break while the TV played in the background of our hotel room! Anyways, I will get right to it. My procedure was on Dec 1st, 2016. I was scheduled for 9am with Dr. Sidle in Chicago, IL. Due to underestimating traffic that morning, I arrived to the office 9:40 - 40 minutes late! Was called right back into the room where the procedure would take place.
IV was put in, line was drawn on my forehead for estimated lowering and I let Dr. Sidle know if he could go further that would be desired. Procedure lasted a very short time from what it felt like. Woke up, and Dr. Sidles amazing assistant Erin helped me get dressed, got something to drink and got me all set up to hit the road. She wheeled me out to the car where my mom was waiting by the doors. (In my slightly out of it state I told her we were in a white car, when we were actually in a black car that day, embarassing! LOL.)
Right now I am 7 days post-op. Stitches/staples were removed today by Erin, which feels much better with them out. Prior to procedure Dr. Sidle and I did discuss that this would not fully rid the recession near the temples, but would improve it. With that being said, he was exactly correct. I am planning to have some hair transplants in those areas, and worse case i could just use some hair powder (it is not that bad!) We have to wait 3-4 months before we can do any type of transplants to let the current incision heal from the lowering.
As for hair loss, I have had some which is to be expected. First hair washing after bandage is taken off, a few clumps came out. Since then, it has only been once or twice where a clump came out. I am unable to identify on my head where they came from so that is good. My hair normally sheds as it is, but since procudure it sheds much more. The doctor did forewarn me about it and its not a surprise or anyting out of the norm.
Overall, i am thrilled with the results. Please keep in mind with the photos, I am still very swollen. I also blurred out my eyes in photos because of the excessive black and blue eyes from the brow lift I got at the same time. It is not appealing to look at. Just waiting for the doctor's office to email me some better quality before photos and I will then post them if the two set here are not sufficient.
Previous Forehead: Approximately 7.5-8cm
Now: 5-5.5cm (depending on the area of the hairline of course)
If I have left anything out, please feel free to ask away. I will respond as soon as I am able.
Thank you!

Had some hair loss on both sides of my head where the incision was. Using rogaine and hair is growing back quickly now.

Thank you for continuing to share! I would love to get this done, but I'm so afraid to look "weird" in the end. You look GREAT and totally not weird and THAT is encouraging! :) BEAUTIFUL!

I felt the exact same way before getting this procedure.
That somehow I would turn out looking weird or strange for some reason. Thank you for the wonderful compliment.

You look great!
I have thin hair exspecially around hairline and am worried about hairloss. Is you hair thin to begin with also? X

Hair transplants and a second hairline lowering
RawlesantlyJanuary 25, 2019
Had hair transplants in temporal region feb 2018. Had a second hairline lowering last week, Jan 15th 2019. Same doc. Very happy with results. Wanted my hairline lower than we were able to get with the first lowering.

Dr Sidle is doing my procedure in October. Did you have shock loss after the second lowering also?

hi karinh, congratulations on scheduling your procedure!! You will be so happy you did.
As for hair loss the second time around - yes I did. After the second procedure, I had shock alopecia(global hair loss) around my entire head. I’m taking zinc and biotin to try and speed up the regrowth process.

Was it to the point of being very noticeable? Dr Sidle did seem to downplay the whole shock loss thing but I want to keep realistic

The first hairline lowering, the hair fell out exclusively in the area where the staples are placed(each side of head). It was significant in those spots, and I could not wear my hair up what so ever. After using men’s Rogaine, the hair grew back quite fast.
The second hairline lowering, the hair fell out on the sides like the first time(not quite as drastic) but it *also* fell out all over my head. This time around, I’m restricted to wearing my hair up and never down due to the global hair loss. Still not wearing hair down, but as of about two weeks ago, the hair stopped coming out in the shower in clumps.
