VS Sizing

Since I pasted the 4 week mark, I went to get sized. I'm a 34D. Happy with the outcome since I really just wanted to get back to my 34C pre-kids.

Follow-ups

Here are some pictures from week 2 and 3. Still feeling good and itching to get back to exercising.

I'm a 33 year-old mom of 2 kids under 5 who just had a breast lift with implants and Smart Lipo on my abdomen and flanks. I never thought of cosmetic surgery until a vacation I went on with some girlfriends this past summer. I was a full 34C before kids and thought they were perfect. After the 2 kids and breastfeeding each for one year, I realized how much they changed especially when I compared myself to my girlfriends on the beach. So I decided to look into cosmetic surgery options. I'm posting here because 1) this has been a great forum for me during my process and 2) there aren't that many African-American women I've come across that have had the same procedure and there were certain factors that I was more concerned about (i.e., keloids) that I think can help others.

Starting this past September, I visited 3 plastic surgeons for consultations. I would say they were all pretty good and within a tight range for price point. I initially looked into getting a Mommy Makeover, but decided against the tummy tuck because I didn't want the scar. Instead, I opted for Smart Lipo on my abdomen and flanks. My main concerns were recovery since I didn’t want to take too much time off at work and scarring. My father had surgery and had keloids post-op. My mother has had surgery and didn’t keloid. It can be hereditary, so I was worried since I have never had surgery. I was comforted that I should be fine since I didn’t scar with my ear piercings or tattoo, but it’s never for certain. All 3 surgeons suggested a lift and implant with a lollipop incision. As for size I wanted to recover my volume and get back to a full C. After the consultations, I chose Dr. Singh and booked my procedure for October 2.

I was so busy at work that the time flew by and it was time for my pre-op appointment. I tried on sizers and initially went with 400 ccs, but called a few days later and went down to 375 ccs. Luckily, the office had multiple sizes in stock just in case I decided to go back to 400 ccs. My operation day came and I had to be at the office at 6:30 AM. All I could think of was the good sleep I was about to get. After intake, I tried on sizers again and went with my gut – 375 ccs. There was some waiting around and then I walked to the operation area, they inserted the IV, and the next thing I remembered was waking up post-op.

Recovery wasn’t too bad after the first couple of days. For someone who despises pain meds (I didn’t take them for childbirth), those suckers were lifesavers post-op. I spent the first 3 days mostly in bed, but was able to walk around and go to the bathroom. No nausea, the BA only resulted in chest-tightness, and the lipo had some burning sensation for a few days. I stopped pain meds on Day 5 and went back to work on Day 7 (same day as first post-op appt).

I’m happy with the results and continue to massage both breasts and lipo areas. I have a few hard lumps that are getting better with self-massage. I also have a professional LDT massage scheduled this week. During my post-op, I was told I could wait for the sterile strips to fall off. The strips for the lollipop stem fell off and the scars look great so far. I’m using silicone strips and Scarguard MD, so we’ll see how the results turn out. Hope this helps someone and I’ll try to update with additional pictures as time passes.

My main criteria was finding a credentialed surgeon with an excellent track record of results. I'm all for bedside manner, but I was more interested in cosmetic surgery acumen. Dr. Singh is highly credentialed (doesn't hurt that we are alumni of the same school) and his office staff (Michelle and Nicole, specifically) are great. I never felt pushed into making a decision and they answered all of my questions. They day of the surgery, Dr. Singh called to check in on me, which I thought was nice. I've already recommended a consultation to a mom from my daughter's school and I think the work speaks for itself. I'm satisfied with my experience and the results thus far.
