2 months post op

I'm just over 2 months post op now and I can confidently say that my nose looks nothing like it did in the first few weeks post op! I didn't realise how much swelling there actually was, it has shrunk almost three times smaller from the front and the tip has become a lot more defined..I'm really loving my new nose! Its so much more narrower and feminine than my previous nose! Apparently theres still a bit of swelling that needs to go down in the tip (I hear patients aren't able to see their final results until 6- 12 months) which is exciting! To be honest I'd be happy for it to stay how it is right now, its such an improvement from my previous nose.. but I guess knowing that it's still going to keep getting better is another bonus! To anyone in the early stages of rhinoplasty right now, rest assured it does get better .. be patient! Dr Shahidi is a wonderful surgeon, I would definitely recommend him! I love my new nose

Cast Removed!

Today I got my cast removed! To be honest, even with all this swelling, I can already tell how great my nose is going to look. From the font it looks a little worse than before- not bigger, just different and weird looking, it's hard to explain but my nose just doesn't fit to my face, I'm not sure if thats because I'm not used to having a smooth nose before, or because of all the swelling (maybe a bit of both) I'm sure other people who've gone through the same procedure can empathise. I'm trying not to look in the mirror too much and am going to be waiting it out at home for the next week! From the profile however, its a vast improvement from before, its super swollen, but I'd be happy with the way it was even now if it stayed! I was a little deflated upon leaving the surgery office, I was warned about the swelling before but imagined despite this I would end up somehow being the one to defy this theory and love my new nose off the bat (alas this was not the case) I look a little like an avatar right now actually, but I'm told that within the next 1-2 weeks some swelling will go down and the shape will come to form, so I'm being positive! I can empathise now how some patients go through post-op depression, but as aforementioned I'm going to try and keep positive... taking lots and lots of arnica and drinking lots of pineapple juice in preparation! Still contemplating whether or not I will be posting photos online... not that I'm trying to hide anything.... If anyone wants some photos I'd be happy to email them directly and let them know how it goes! Will keep you guys posted, Thanks :)

Hi all, After years of reserch and contemplating,...

Hi all,

After years of reserch and contemplating, I've finally gone ahead and gotten rhinoplasty and am now currently 6 days post op. I have always been unhappy with the width of my nose and wanted a bump on the bridge shaved down. I had my surgery last wednesday at North Shore Specialist Day Surgery in Sydney. All the nurses and staff assisting with the surgery were lovely and the recovery so far has been very easy and painless. I haven't had the cast taken off yet so I cannot say whether or not I am happy with the final result as of yet, although I do trust my surgeon did the best that he could to fulfil my wishes. Upon returning home from surgery I found that my face looked completely normal, no swelling, no bruising at all, so, I quite naively assumed that I somehow wouldn't be affected by bruising or swelling... two days later and I realised what a joke that was. My eyes were purple and swollen to the point where opening them fully was painful. Ofter the past few days I have noticed the swelling on my has lessened slightly and the bruises have turned yellow, however, now my cheeks and lower face is totally swollen. I am now 6 days post op as aforementioned and my cheeks still haven't budged! I understand that swelling on the actual nose takes about 1 year to subside completely, but what about facial swelling?
