I underwent bilateral subcutaneous mastectomies...
SadmammaJanuary 16, 2016
I underwent bilateral subcutaneous mastectomies with immediate insertion of implants. Stage 2 surgery was to follow in 8 to 12 weeks.
I was in shock after a diagnosis of breast cancer with the choice of radiation or mastectomies. The only reason I opted for mastectomy is that my breast surgeon offered skin and nipple saving surgery. I was assured by Dr Moncrieff that he could give me natural looking breasts. My greatest fear was that I would end up being disfigured and that is precisely what has happened. Dr Moncrieff does not appear to listen to my concerns andI dont feel he has been supportive of me.

Feeling More Positive
SadmammaMarch 5, 2016
In late January I had my implants removed. They were about 400cc each. I have a large build and am 5' 10" tall and these implants were way too small. I now have expanders instead with an initial 600cc approximately injected. This week I went back and another 100cc was added to each breast. I now have more than 700cc in each breast and for the first time since June last year I feel optimistic and that I have breasts again. This is nearly double that amount that Dr Moncrieff decided was right for me! My new surgeon is lovely, listens to me, and I have faith that he can help me feel good about myself again. Its nice to be able to look in the mirror and not think 'Yuk"
