How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.

I found Dr. Irma Galvadon in Cancun, Mexico off of RealSelf.com. After reading several reviews, I AM SO GLAD that I did! She and her staff were a true God send. They were so helpful from the first point of contact. I called the number and was put in touch with my coordinator, who answered ALL of my questions through email and phone calls. Once I was sure of the estimate, flights and hotel I set an appointment and was on my way to my new smile within three weeks(I don't procrastinate! :) ). My appointment was set for 4/12 @ 11am with me flying in to Cancun on the 4/11. Upon arrival to Cancun, by myself(*fyi: easy breeze through customs when travel light), I met up with my shuttle driver who took me directly to Ocean Dental. I wanted to get a look at the relatively new office location just to ease my doubts. So glad I did! They set me up with a consultation that today instead of my initial appt. on 4/12.

There is a 10% discount if paid in usdollars of which I did and had appts. set from there forth as to what would occur each day so there are no surprises. I came with $5k in usdollars thinking I might get implants and who knows what else. Because of my age it was better to go with an extended bridge encompassing ten teeth with root canals and no crowns for $5900. In addition to a new bridge, I had an extraction of one tooth, root canals to three teeth, scaling of gums (my 2nd time), a piece of my cheek was cut (painless) from me biting the inside of cheek, temporary bridge, and all within a matter of 6 days!

Ocean dental has in house dental lab, so no need to wait weeks for anything temporary or permanent to be made. Final costs with the 10% discount was $5548! I would have been charged $8-10k for that in the states. **With my hotel stay, flight and $300usd spending cash which was $5,000 pesos, plus tipping money in $20 usd equaled to roughly $7,000.

I have always felt apprehensive going to the dentist because some dentists just do not have a caring bedside manner and there is certain amount of pain I attribute to going to the dentists from past experiences. So I DO NOT care to be in any pain whatsoever, especially dental pain! The only pain I felt, and I do mean ONLY was from the initial numbing shots and the placement of my permanent bridge (mouth was very sore at the time). I had one last appt. made just to be sure the work was complete before I left 2 days later.

Let me just say the staff was caring and try their very best to put you the patient at ease and up to date with your care (love their aftercare), you will meet a lot of people from the US and Canada, Be prepared to wait-they stay busy because they do very Excellent work..that is a very good thing :); bring snacks and drinks (there are stores right by the office, restaurants close by, a bank, & US cash atm[high fees]); the shuttle drivers are cool and generally on time (lol); Yes it is a clean, modern office with up to date dental practices (ridiculous I felt the need to state that but hey..), and did I mention the cost was astronomical! Sadly my dental insurance from the states did not cover my costs :(, but they will give you the estimate and breakdown with codes to give to your insurance company :).

I got back home to the states two days after my last appointment and have received nothing but compliments on my New Smile! Four days later, I went to my regular dentist and got my yearly cleaning, and he even commented that the bridge was done very well, my gums were healing properly and gave my teeth a clean bill of health! Because of their care, I have a New Smile that should last me a good 10-15 years. Simply wonderful :)

Thank you Dr, Irma Galvadon, Ocean

*I could not post pictures of my smile. I just have no clue why not. But it turned out really nice :)

They were so helpful from the first point of contact. There is a 10% discount if paid in usdollars, but they do take Credit Cards. A shuttle driver, that works with Ocean Dental to get you and back & forth to your appts., can take you directly there if you are nervous about carrying a hefty sum of cash.
