Amazing Doctor - Calgary, AB

Dr. Zakary is the most accommodating, understanding, and skilled doctor I have had dealings with. She performed a septo/rhinopasty on me recently and the results far exceeded my expectations. My nose was broken quite traumatically years ago and was beaten and bruised numerous times since then. Aesthetically, my nose was bent and sagging and had a “has been broken before” appearance. Functionally, my nose was the pits; it constantly bled (at least once a week), my breathing was very limited, and I had a large hole in my septum. I would wake up numerous times throughout the night. I initially consulted my family physician with a desire to get the functionality, and possibly the appearance of my nose, fixed. My family doctor referred me to who he, and many others, considered as the top plastic surgeon in the city, Dr. C. After quite some time I was able to get an appointment with Dr. C for a consultation. Although he seemed very skilled in what he did, I preferred someone who specialized in facial surgery. Additionally, I wanted someone who would fix the functionality as well as the aesthetics of my nose, which he could not. I ended up booking a follow up pre-surgery appointment with Dr. C. I had forgotten about it and actually did not hear back from Dr. C’s office until a month after my actual surgery was completed with Dr. Zakhary. I told Dr. C’s office that I had already gotten the surgery from someone else and to take me off their list. I couldn’t believe that I went through the entire process start to finish with Dr. Zakhary before I even received one phone call back form Dr. C. On to Dr. Zakhary. I went for a consultation with Dr. Zakhary shortly after my consultation with Dr. C. I was booked in quickly and the initial consultation was very informative. Dr. Zakhary gave me the straight goods, and explained that my nose was in pretty rough shape, and there would be difficulties in fixing either the functionality or aesthetics of my nose due to previous trauma. Dr. Zakhary further examined my nose and discussed the procedure that we could imploy and the risks associated with it. I booked surgery with Dr. Zakhary for 3-4 months after the initial consultation, which is lightening speed in my opinion. When it came time for surgery I opted out of the surgery due to a variety of reasons, Dr. Zakhary understood. A few months later, I decided to go ahead with the surgery once again. Dr. Zakhary and her staff were extremely accommodating in getting me an early surgery date that worked with my schedule. Moreover, she credited me for the entire balance that I had previously paid for surgery. Essentially, she did the surgery for free. Come surgery day, Dr. Zakhary called me and told me I could come in early because she finished up her morning surgery ahead of time. I went in to surgery and didn’t feel a thing. The people at riverview were amazing. When I woke up, Dr. Zakhary was right there to tell me that the surgery was successful. She told me that I went an hour longer than expected due to some complications and bleeding. The recovery process was as expected, and Dr. Zakhary was always available by telephone if I had any concerns. Dr. Z’s staff has always returned my calls/emails literally within minutes of me sending correspondence. They are polite, helpful, and accommodating. Any of my appointments with Dr. Zakhary have been pleasant. She always has a smile on her face and I never have to wait long. As far as the results of the surgery, I am very pleased with the aesthetic aspects of my nose. I did not have any real expectations of the aesthetics of my nose; there was only room for improvement. She gave me the nose that I would have had, had I never broken it. It looks drastically better than I expected it to look. However, it’s natural in that no one has noticed the change. Functionality is where I am ecstatic. Dr. Zakhary told me there was not much she could do as far as functionality of my nose due to the previous trauma and hole in my septum. However, I trusted that once she had my face opened up, that she would work her magic. Dr. Z made drastic improvements to the functionality of my nose. She re-aligned my septum and fixed the hole. I have not had one nose bleed since surgery. Since recovery, I can now sleep a whole night through. I no longer wake myself up snoring. I do not have a bad, or even a neutral thing to say about Dr. Z, only praise. If anyone has any concerns or questions with respect to Dr. Z I would have no problem answering them from a patient perspective. Bottom line: Excellent aesthetic results, Excellent functional results, Excellent bedside manner, Excellent support staff, extremely fair billing practice, Excellent overall experience. Would recommend Dr. Z to anyone.
