First Update:
I've been struggling with acne for about 5 years now, ever since I finished high school. (I'll upload pics later on). I've tried it all, much like the rest of you - Proactive, anti-biotics, creams, scrubs, and everything in between. Sometimes the acne would recede a little, but would always come back. So, I've taken the step and started on Accutane.
Well, I guess it's not exactly Accutane, but a different version called Epuris, which they say works faster with less side effects. I got put on the heaviest dose - 40mg everyday. I'm into my second week now on the drug.
FIRST WEEK:
Say no results or side effects. I bought lots of lip chap and moisturizer, although I suffer from eczema so I already had lots of those. Lips felt slightly dry, not so bad.
SECOND WEEK:
The side effects begin to become apparent. At first, it was the skin on the back of my neck that began to get extremely dry and started peeling, and how it's moved on to my face. My face... oh lord. So dry. They provided me with an oil-free face moisturizer but it hardly helps. So now my face is basically a dessert and I've noticed my arms are dry now too. Guess this means it's working! Yay?
THIRD WEEK:
Update and photo's comin'.

Third or so week along my 3 month journey. It's amazing what I'm willing to do to my body to get rid of one little condition but recently the side effects have been much worse. Dry lips that crack, to the max. Some back pain and muscle stiffness. Very tired lately, having little motivation to do much. Skin rashes have started to appear on my arms and back of my hands, sweeeeet. Dry face with some improvement to my acne. Might go see my doctor about whether the back pain is a serious side effect or not.

Thanks for the update, sorry to hear your side effects are getting worse. I just read in another Accutane review that they broke out in a hand rash as well, so I thought I would connect you with tami1986 so you can compare notes. I found this FAQ that speaks to this, but feel free to post a your own question, along with photos, to the board-certified doctors. Also, be sure to follow up with your doctor to have your rash checked out. Keep us posted.
Welcome to the community, I am thrilled that you found us and decided to document your journey here on RealSelf. I have never heard of Epuris, so it's great that you shared so we can learn more. I thought you might find this forum post helpful in case you get really bad dry lips to go with your dry skin. :( RealSelfer LJP_31 shares a natural recipe for lip moisturizer, sounds impressive! I don't know if you have ever tried 100% pure Coconut Oil or Shea Butter on your skin, but they both work wonderfully. They do feel greasy at first, you just need to allow for a few minutes to pass so that your skin fully absorbs the cream. I look forward to your photo updates, and hey...if you feel brave feel free to share some progress videos.
