I went in on day 9 to get my bandages…

I went in on day 9 to get my bandages removed and into a sports bra. My mom and sister went with me and my sister got emotional when she saw my results. She was purely happy for me because I wanted this for so long. The doctor and nurse said my results look wonderful. I am also very pleased! My Lg champion zip front bra was too tight because I was still swollen (I would normally wear a size Med if I wasn't swollen). I left in a fresh set of ace bandages and was told to find a bra that isn't too tight. I had a seamless bra at home that was perfect size. I have very strict arm movement restrictions, so I stepped through the bra and my sister helped me to put the straps over my shoulders (I cannot move my arms away from my waist more than 12" until 6 weeks post-op per doctors orders). See Day 9 photos :)

I'm on day 6 post-op and feeling pretty…

I'm on day 6 post-op and feeling pretty good. I have some sensitivity around my chest when I move around. Like getting up from sitting or shifting positions. The first 3 days I was in and out of sleep all day/night. Now I feel like being awake during the day a lot more, which started on day 4 post-op. I've been watching TV and hanging out around the house with my mom, who is in town helping me out (my husband went back to work). I still have some pain and am taking oxycodone during the day, but have cut back the amount quite a bit. I am taking 1 pill every 4-5 hours. For the past two nights I have taken tylenol PM at night, and I have slept through the night, except to get up and use the bathroom once.

Everyday gets a little better. I'm looking forward to getting into a sports bra this friday at my next post-op appointment (I'm currently wrapped in 2 wide ace bandages - as picture). I think I'll like the support feeling of a sports bra. I had a little bit of fluids leak through in the first 4-5 days, but I seem to be pretty dry now. The doctor said that was normal when I saw her at my first post-op.

Protein helps you heal faster, so I'm still getting at least 90 grams of protein per day. It's pretty easy to do with protein shakes (3 per day). I also like eating fresh fruits and little cheddar cheese sticks. I've been eating other high protein foods like tuna salad, greek yogurt, almonds, and hummus. I've been taking miralax everyday and had my first BM on day 3. I have been regular since then. I'm also taking a multi vitamin, vitamin c, and a probiotic.

I will post a picture of my results after my next post-op on Friday :)

Yay! Surgery is over! I went in yesterday…

Yay! Surgery is over! I went in yesterday at 7AM. All of the staff is so wonderful and made me feel totally comfortable. Dr. Nygaard started with surgical markings on my breasts with a permanent marker, carefully measuring out where everything should end up or be cut away. After that I went into the operating room and got set up on the table. The anesthesiologist put a needle in my vein and applied a mask for me to breath into. The next thing you know, it was over and I woke up (which I don't even remember)! I have some foggy memory of riding home with my husband. I rested for the rest of the day getting up every 2 hours to pee and walk around per doctor's orders (to prevent blood clots). I have had zero issues with feeling comfortable. I feel a little bit of pain when I sit up to get out of bed in the chest area. We set up our guest bedroom (cat free zone) with pillows for ultimate coziness, see pic. I bought a Medslat wedge pillow on Amazon, which was recommended to me by the nurse, so I can easily sleep elevated. It is awesome and I highly recommend it if you don't have a lazy boy. I think the dimensions are perfect. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002DJVGE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The pain isn't too bad and totally manageable with the pain meds. My husband is noting the amount and time that I take them because it's so easy to lose track. We've also been keeping track of my protein intake. I'm aiming for 90 grams per day so I can heal up as best and fast as possible. I am drinking chocolate Muscle Milk pre-made shakes and Garden Of Life Vanilla protein powder that my husband shakes up for me. I'm also drinking tons of water - 3 quarts per day!

Overall, I feel happy and excited! I am going in for my first check up with doctor tomorrow (day 3) and she will change my dressings and check me out. I will get to sneak a glimpse of my new boobies then. She said I ended up at a C-D cup and I think she took out over 800 grams out of each breast! I'll get more details tomorrow. I will also be posting photos when I can!
