Dr. Nygaard, nurses, and staff, made me feel so comfortable, respected, and genuinely cared for. In particular, Dr. Nygaard and Rhonda, one of the nurses, were incredibly empathetic. They made sure I was ok through every step along the way. They encouraged me to ask questions and answered every single one, in detail. Most important of all, they made me feel hopeful. I was recovering from 2 years of trauma with another surgeon, and they gave me the gift of relief and understanding. I came to Dr. Nygaard for a revision after 2 years and 2 unsuccessful surgeries with an unsympathetic, disrespectful surgeon who didn't seem to listen or care, and was more concerned about not being liable than actually answering my questions or trying to understand what it felt like to be a woman who came to someone because I was so uncomfortable, spent my savings, and came out even worse off. I didn't really challenge him during the process because he was the expert. I didn't realize how condescending and careless he was until I found Dr. Nygaard, and my experience with her showed me what my experience should have been like from the beginning. I can't thank her enough. I should also note that her work is precise and based on what YOU want. She pays attention to you and uses her expertise to deliver. It is obvious she knows exactly what she's doing, and that is an incredibly comforting feeling.
As this site/app has been extremely helpful to me I’m going to try to tell my story here and keep it updated as it goes along. I’ve wanted a breast reduction for years & years. I didn’t think it would be an option for me as I’ve had some pretty bad scarring in the past but I’ve been dealing with shoulder injuries on both sides for some time now & was told my chest size was making it worse, I had a history of neck and back pain and I was just plain tired of the clothing restrictions having big breasts puts on you. So I made a consult appointment with 4-5 plastic surgeons in the area to decide who would do my breast reduction. I was under no illusion that my breasts would come out with no scarring and that the scars would look pretty and told each surgeon so but was surprised to be told by several of them that they thought my scarring wasn’t a foregone conclusion. The places that I’d keloided were known for bad scarring so I might have a chance at good healing! Either way I was going through with it. I ended up choosing Dr. Nygaard for many reasons. My husband went to all the consults with me (except 1 but I ruled him out anyways) and he and I both liked the overall experience the most with Dr. Nygaard. We like that she takes insurance, she has a ton of experience with breast reductions (she’s done thousands), the consult appointment felt very personal (we met several people), they made sure we understood the surgery, answered any questions we had and showed us a whole binder of before and after photos (without having to be asked), during the consult the doctors herself first sat down with us in a more casual office (couch type) setting & answered tons of questions as well as walking us through the procedure and aftercare then she took us to an exam room, did a breast exam and showed me my different options, we then met with their scheduling person and their billing person. They were great about helping us jump through some weird hoops with insurance and were super understanding about my small timeline to get the surgery done (I only have a few months out of the year of downtime for my work) & assured me the rush was ok even though it was around the end of the year which I’m sure is a busy time for them. They went above and beyond for me. If I’d known ahead of time to not submit to insurance till I knew for sure which surgeon I was using that would have been great but at the time I didn’t so I just had the first surgeon I saw submit to insurance to “get the ball rolling to get approved”. When I saw Dr. Nygaard I had just gotten approval for my breast reduction (BUT for another surgeon) and it caused a whole bunch of issues because my insurance won’t just transfer the approval, the approval actually needs to get canceled and you have to start the process all over again. Don’t make that mistake, it slowed my final approval down. Just wait till you know which doctor you want to do your surgery before submitting to insurance! However, Dr. Nygaard’s staff were invaluable at getting this worked out with my insurance. I had my surgery on the 1/15. I wanted to be a B cup. Originally Dr. Nygaard thought she could only safely get me to a C cup without doing a FNG but when she did the surgery she worked hard at it and she thinks when all is said and done & swelling has gone down I will most likely be a B cup! Regardless of what I end up being I am already super happy with the results! It’s such a huge difference! Her work is impeccable and both Dr. Nygaard and her staff have been so caring and thorough. I don’t have very much bruising (which I believe has been helped by the surgical regimen of arnica she gave me to take) and I’ve been told I’m healing really well! I was so much more comfortable with a woman doing this procedure and Iove that she is on the Eastside & I’m not taking a painful, long car ride to downtown Seattle. If your looking for a surgeon for your breast reduction I couldn’t recommend her more!
Dr. Nygaard is an amazing doctor! I am healing (day 9) from breast reduction surgery performed by Dr. Nygaard. Choosing her as a doctor was the best decision I could have made. Dr. Nygaard has wonderful bedside manner, takes time to talk through the procedure, risks, any and all questions you might have. I have never met a doctor that is more generous with their time. She was available to talk and text my husband over the New Year holiday with questions we had post-op. Then her skill - my surgery was great. My incisions look great, and she's provided me with enough tips and tricks to survive the recovery period - even with tips on doing daily things around the house. I met with other doctors for consultations, but knew instantly Dr. Nygaard was the best doctor for me. I 100% recommend her and her staff.
Dr. Nygaard is an very talented surgeon. She takes into account your whole person, body and personality. She is very kind and personal and really takes the time to know your needs and wants. I couldn't recommend her and her amazing staff more highly. Everyone truly makes you feel very welcomed and comfortable. They are there to answer any questions or concerns pretty much at anytime. I had the most amazing experience and extremely happy with my results! I think Dr. Nygaard and her staff are a 10+
She is an artist. I am so very happy with my results. I LOOK GREAT! LOL! Dr. Nygaard and her surgery team were awesome prepping and post surgery. My surgery was due to a leaking saline implant of a surgery 10 years prior, in another location. My initial appt was a great conversation on a decision of saline or silicone and not rushed and was thorough and without bias. Having experience in a former medical office, it helped to know the right questions to ask prior to surgery and usually what to expect. But I am confident if you didn't know the right questions Dr. Nygaard would prompt them for you. She answered all my questions and opened a couple new ones. I was very athletic and had moved several times so it's possible I contributed to the deflation, but its hard to know. I was anxious to get the procedure done without waiting too long. SO, her office team coordinated fast for orders of pre-screenings, such as a mammogram & blood work. Within 3 days I was in surgery and she arrange her schedule for me. It made me feel I was important. I had seen Dr. Nygaard's work on her patients from years ago, but took a chance on the now and I could not be happier with the results. She is STILL GREAT. She gave her professional advice and made wise choices while I was under and even removed my previous scar and the new one is less obvious. She uses hidden stitches. The follow-up appts are timely and part of the package which was a bonus. I had no complications. Her office also offers different company options for financing. All in all I am very please. I plan to have more procedure in the future to enhance my appearance longevity.
I turned 70 and decided to do something or myself to look better and feel better about myself and the aging process. I had had my upper and lower eyelids done about 18 years ago and decided to look up the same Dr. She is Board certified and still in the same building and has done at least two other friends face work . I trusted her work. She is very good at what she does. The office is very clean and professional. The staff is warm, very competent, and helpful. I really enjoyed the post operative lymph massage to help relieve my swelling. The Dr.'s explanations, and directions for post op were very clear. I was able to contact her on her cell with questions and concerns about one of my eyes post op. She was available to me on a weekend. I had a great experience with both the Dr. and her excellent staff.
I had a breast reduction in 2005, when I was 26 years old and am 3 weeks post op from my second. I had heard this was an extremely painful procedure, but I would say my pain level was never over a 5 out of 10. My surgery was an outpatient procedure and took approximately 6 hours, which my doctor said was longer than usual, due to excessive scar tissue from my prior breast reduction. The biggest challenges I have found in my recovery so far have been discomfort from the surgical tape and Dermabond (I think I had an allergic reaction), poor appetite and difficultly sleeping due to the limited range of motion (back sleeping for 6 weeks!!). Getting dressed, doing your hair and putting on makeup is difficult since you can't have your elbows more than 12 inches away from your hip bone. Three weeks post op, I feel 95% back to normal, however the arm restrictions are in effect for another few weeks. Even though they are not very pretty, I am happy with my results so far and have nothing but wonderful things to say about my surgeon (Dr Christine Nygaard) and her staff!
I've always wanted a tummy tuck. After having kids it left me with stretched out skin and a big old skin flap around my middle. I was recommend by a friend to go see Dr. NyGaard. This was the best choice I've ever made! My experience was great especially because Dr.NyGaard and her staff are like no other. They are the most welcoming group of people, who make you feel at home and like your part of their family. Dr. NyGaard takes the time to answer all of your questions and any concerns you may have about your procedure(s). My tummy and breast look amazing and I couldnt be happier. If I ever need anything else done this is the place! Dr.NGaard you are the best, thank you!
I've wanted a breast reduction for 25 years and finally the time was right. I met with a few plastic surgeons and knew that Christine Nygaard was the perfect fit for me as soon as I entered her office. The entire staff was very welcoming and immediately put me at ease. I was the last appointment on a Friday and no one made me feel like they wanted to be done for the weekend. We had a tentative date for my surgery and I had my preop scheduled the following Monday. Things were moving along really fast! Updated on 27 Apr 2016: Updated on 27 Apr 2016: Updated on 27 Apr 2016: My pre op appointment was very informative. I met with Dr. Nygaard, nurse Sarah and took care of my paperwork and payment with Cambria. I had tried going through insurance in the past and was repeatedly denied so paid out of pocket. I was able to have my surgery in the in office surgical suite and was glad I could avoid going into the hospital. I received a bag with prescriptions for pain meds, anti biotics and anti nausea pills, a anti nausea patch and an Ativan to help me sleep the night before. There was also betadine wash and compression stockings. I filled my prescriptions and started preparing for recovery. Since we don't have recliner I decided to use the guest room. I made sure to have fresh sheets and lots of pillows. I ordered a neck pillow as well. On the day before surgery I got a call from Nurse Sarah reminding me to do the betadine wash that evening and the next morning, instructing me to have my antibiotic with dinner and have nothing by mouth after around 8:30. I received a call from the anesthesiologist that evening and he spent a lot of time with me discussing all the ways to help with nausea. I was most scared of throwing up after surgery as I had bad reactions in the past. He really helped alleviate my fears. There was nothing left to do but take my pill and get some sleep. I had to be at the office at 7 am sharp. Updated on 27 Apr 2016: Morning arrived an I woke up refreshed and nervous! It was hard to believe that after waiting almost 25 years I was going to have smaller breasts that day. I showered, put on my nausea patch, took my morning meds with a sip of water, pulled on my sexy compression hose and dressed in sweats. My husband and daughter drove me to the office and we arrived by 7. I was taken directly back to the prep room, changed into a gown, got my hair into a cap and took some anti nausea meds. They got me under a fuzzy blanket, I was marked and IV in before I even realized it. I was so excited and really lived that everyone was upbeat and excited for me. I went to the bathroom and then into the surgical suite. I remember getting on the table and that was it. The next thing I remember was being in the wheelchair on the way to the car asking Dr. Nygaard if we were done yet. She smiled and told me everything went great. Jim the anesthesiologist was also helping me into the car. I had zero nausea and was glad we decided to hold off on any food or water until I arrived home. The drive went smoothly and I was glad we brought sling a pillow to put over my chest between the seatbelt. I was feeling zero pain, zero nausea and slept for most of the 24 minute ride. I made it to bed and was out like a light by 3pm. My mouth was dry and my appetite was good so I ate and drank throughout the night and felt great ! This was the only time out of 5 total surgeries that I had zero nausea or negative reaction to anesthesia and pain meds. I can't express what a huge relief this was and how big a difference this gas made in my recovery! Make sure to take whatever time you need to address all your fears and issues prior to surgery. The tips I got from Jim were life changing! There are no stupid questions or concerns when you are approaching major surgery. My biggest issue was getting comfortable in my bed. But it wasn't a huge issue as I was up every couple hours for pills and bathroom visits. Updated on 27 Apr 2016: Friday morning arrived and I was feeling pretty good. Pain was well controlled with oxycodone and Tylenol taken in small doses every hour or two. This worked a lot better for me than taking full doses every 4 hours. I was able to get up, brush teeth, have a protein shake and my pills before clonking out for a nap. I really had no urge do watch tv or read... Sleep was number one priority! I was having a lot of discomfort on my left side low in my rib cage. Dr Nygaard always includes liposuction of tank top overflow and on sides of breast with reduction so I knew that would be painful and I had a whopper of a bruise from it. When I went for my visit that afternoon I was able to see my breasts for the first time. I was wrapped in ace bandages with gauze underneath after surgery. When everything came off it was a bit of a shock. The ink markings were there along with bruising, glue, tape, stitches and considerably smaller breasts. They held up a mirror so I could see and I got really emotional and lightheaded. It wasn't the look of my breasts at all it was the reality that I had finally done it. They tipped back my chair, placed a cool washcloth on my head and brought me some apple juice. I sat there sipping with a big stupid grin on my face :) dr Nygaard alleviated my fears about the side brucite which was looking worse and explained that it was a trickle down from the lipo. They pronounced that everything looked perfect and told me to keep doing what I was doing. I was re wrapped in the gauze and ace bandages and home for more rest. I return for followup in one week and will go into a sports bra at that time. Updated on 27 Apr 2016: Saturday and Sunday were more of the same. My side bruise made everything uncomfortable, eating, breathing, sleeping. I was getting desperate to find a comfortable position so I could relax and sleep. I finally figured out how to construct what I have since dubbed my nest. See photo. This formation: back rest, two pillows stacked over backrest at lower back, one propped on top, two pillows on each side and two for under knees. I found that the pillows along the sides helped cradle my back and allowed me to be able to shift toy sides a bit, the side pillows nearer my head helped prop arms up. I can't tell you how amazing this best is god me. I've been able to completely relax and sleep all night like this. I was starting to feel really grimy and had a short sponge bath. On Sunday night I called the doctor about my side pain and she reassured me again that it was normal and to try a warm washcloth as icing wasn't helping with the pain. Starred getting really bored but my niece was coming in Monday do I had something to look forward to. Updated on 27 Apr 2016: On Monday my dirty hair was driving me nuts! I was already an itchy mess from the inductions, reaction to pain meds and lack of showering. I had a feeling that the hair would be my undoing and decided to try something I learned about when my dad was in the hospital.... Shampoo caps. I ordered a two pack from amazon for about $6. You heat them in the microwave for 15 second, put the warm cap on your head with your hair inside and massage. Towel dry and you are good to go. My wonderful niece massaged my head and brushed out my hair. The itch was gone and I smelled yummy. I made it downstairs to the couch for dinner that night but after an hour I knew I had done too much and headed back to the nest. I am forcing myself to do nothing... It's very hard but it really don't want to set myself back at all. I'm down to pain pills only for sleep and I will take one before going to ps on Friday. Extra strength Tylenol is taking care of it. Side bruise is resolving quickly how and burning nipples have calmed down. Incisions under breasts that go back towards armpits are the most uncomfortable at this point. My bruising on breasts is lightening and the swelling at tops if breasts is less. My right breast seems to have started to drop a bit as well. I really want to shower. May try to wash hair for real later today. Updated on 29 Apr 2016: So my new motto is. "Go small or go home !" Lol What - A- Day! I did way too much. Didn't sleep last night, napped from 6-10am. Got up washed dressed did makeup and picked up a bit. Had groceries delivered and by 2 we were off the the PS for my one week follow up. We were 15 minutes early for the 2:45 appt. they were running. 45 minutes late. I had a pain pill before we left and was feeling pretty woozy when we got there ( should have eaten more). I just kept chugging water and trying to breathe. The first thing they told me was that I could trash the compression stockings! Thank you God! Then the ace wrap came off and they told me I looked perfect :). No new bruising, the T was healing nicely and it was into the sports bra I went. I was cleared to shower, bend at waist to wash hair but reminded to keep heart rate down and keep arm restriction going. All in all an excellent visit. My path report came back clean as well. I return on may 10 and surgical glue and steri steps will come off then. Stitches are all dissolvable. I got an aloe gel from them and was instructed on scar massage which will start right after next visit. Hubs was so excited that we went out to dinner. I came home, showered - very short and very sweet! And now I am in bed ( perhaps forever). So wiped out but happy!!!! Told my PS I couldn't believe how small she had gotten me and she told me they weren't small just small compared to what I was. I really don't know what I will end up but they are tiny and I am happy. Will be able to start exercising at 14 days but gently. Now to keep healing and get the rest of this old bod in shape! Updated on 1 May 2016: Starting yo get back to life a bit in preparation for return to work tomorrow and have a few yips. I've been 80% more active starting Day 8 when I went for my week follow up with PS. Dinner out, long car rides, starting to wash dress and drive again. I would live to have the option of another week off but to be honest I feel better out of bed and doing things. Just the sir into face during the car rude felt so wonderful! I'm very tired and still resting and sleeping a lot. I have found that the simple act of washing at the sink and getting dressed wears me out so I'm planning rest periods around my activity starting tomorrow morning so I can get to work on time, without pushing myself and my heart rate over the edge. I'm planning on getting up a half hour earlier to get everything done and be able to lay down for a bit before leaving. Packing lunch, showering and taking care of my hair tonight and planning on getting right into bed when I get home in the morning. I have a small pillow and towel in car for seatbelt issues, extra tick gauze pads (bandaid brand) in my purse along with a couple Tylenol and a half a pain pill just in case. I have a person for back up ride home in case I just can't do it after sitting at my desk for 5 hours. Still more planning on the fly at this stage of recovery. I'm getting almost 100 grams of protein a day, about 60 of those from shakes. I really think this us helping me a lot! Doing small tasks for short times, folding laundry etc... To get my arms moving a bit while still keeping elbows in and not lifting or reaching. So far do good. Pain is very minimal at this point, more discomfort than anything else but even the swelling is ok unless I touch them. Before it just felt like two throbbing orbs in my chest. What a relief it is to take a deep breath without all that extra weight lying on my ribs! Leaving now for lunch with a friend. Updated on 2 May 2016: Today was first day back to work, post op day 11. I didn't sleep well but was able to get up and out with no issues. It was good to be back but it became obvious to me rather quickly that I was not feeling my best. My office chair has no arms and after about 30 minutes I knew it wasn't going to cut it. Switched it out with an armed non-rolling option and tucked a small pillow along my right side under armpit and that worked really well. I got pretty much caught up by the time I left ( only work 8:30-1:30) but I was ready to be back in bed. Got home and slept from 2-4:30. Stayed in bed reading after that. Very wiped out tonight, doesn't help that it's 84 degrees in Seattle in May :). I'm concerned with the continued burning of my incisions beneath breasts going back under arm area. They hurt. I'm sure it's just part of the healing process but I can't seem to get comfortable in any of the bras I have. Back to using gauze for padding but the surgical glue is catching the gauze in places , the bra rubs against that and I don't like it. Glue comes off in 8 days so I will try to suck it up but the only relief is with pain pills which I would rather not take. I'm trying to restrict arm movements but I was using them 5 hours straight today so I'm very swollen too which makes it worse. Just not feeling so hot. Trying to stay positive and keep reminding myself that this will end. Pain stinks. So blessed that I don't live with any type of chronic pain and thankful that the constant back neck shoulder pain is gone for the most part. I'm working on my posture and find myself hunching over as I've done for 25 years. Am planning on starting some upper back strengthening when I get the green light. Hoping for continued progress tomorrow. Updated on 4 May 2016: Another rough night. Trying to get good rest but after second day if work, appointment after that with daughter so more driving and general house stuff yesterday I thought sleep would come. I was up and down all night. Very swollen and overall wiped out. I'm home today thanks to a very compassionate boss and taking full advantage of a day of rest. Overall physically my healing is going very well. No oozing or new bleeding/bruising. The swelling is painful and there is no question knowing when I'm overdoing it. I'm more comfortable generally with my side swelling very manageable. My breasts have not dropped or softened at all but there was a massive amount taken out and the babies need time and tlc :). Speaking of amounts... I've been going back md forth in insurance coverage. Because my surgery was scheduled so quickly there were inly three weeks between insurance submit talk and surgey date. I went into this whole thing thinking that there was no point in submitting to my insurance and paid cash out-of-pocket. At my presurgical appointment the office told me they would go ahead and submit to my insurance anyway just to see what happened and I was thankful but not hopeful. I just found out yesterday that my insurance has denied the claim prior to the surgery but I was not informed about that. At the time of the submittal my surgeon thought she would be taking about 500 g from each breast and my insurance mandates 895 g from each breast for the procedure to be covered. In reality I had 875 g from one breast and 862 g from the other removed which is just under the mandated amount. My surgeons office is resubmitting with these new numbers in the hopes that perhaps insurance will cover now that so much more was taken out and it's just under their mandated amount. I'm not holding my breath. That said I'm shocked that insurance would require that amount which in my estimation is huge and above the norm for most women who are really suffering from large breasts. It's a crime. I'm off to rest hoping everyone's doing well today! Updated on 5 May 2016: Seriously? A tank top with no bra !?!? I'm still very swollen especially on the sides, boobs are hard and haven't dropped and the swishy noise is back in right breast. I know I've done too much this week. I really had to try to go back to work and good news is that I feel overall better with more activity. But I overshot the middle ground. I've been home yesterday and today just to give my body dome better rest and healing time. Doing very little. But had to get that bra off and thought I would just try the tank too. I can't believe how free I feel. It's amazing. I can inly imagine how great this is going to be 6-12 months from now!!! Updated on 7 May 2016: Saturday morning- 16 days since surgery. There are some things I wish I had done differently. First I would have taken 2 weeks off work. I went back on day 11 and worked two days and then had to take next three days off. Honestly I don't think it was being back at work so much as just slipping back into pre surgical lifestyle because of being back early. So I was up, washing, dressing, driving, working, more driving & doing more around the house. It proved to be too much. My swelling went through the roof. I started hearing the swishy sounds in right breast on Thursday night. I've had more drainage although just tiny spots here and there. But my biggest concern are some spots around the T junction on my right breast. I am really hoping I haven't compromised the healing there. I guess I will find out Tuesday when the glue and tape come off. And then I will deal with it. We leave for Maui on 7/4 and any complications will threaten my being able to go in the ocean & pool basically ruining my trip. I'm not overly focusing on it but it is in the back of my mind. I'm anxious about Tuesday and hoping for good news on the healing. When PS office called yesterday they did not lift any of my heart rate, lifting or other activity restrictions because of the swelling I am having. I wasn't planning on doing that anyway but it did confirm to me that I could have been a bit smarter. Overall pain is good, discomfort from swelling up and down, sleep good and I'm still taking 1/2-1 pain pill before bed as I'm a lousy sleeper and sleep is so key right now. PS said have to keep the bra on at all times and I'll admit when I'm in bed I unfasten it for a break how and then. Also I've switched over to tighter bra as the one I was fitted with last week got big in the band and wasn't offering much support. I think that's contributed to my discomfort as well. Going out later to look at paint samples and have dinner with hubs. And another early night for me :) Updated on 8 May 2016: Happy Mother's Day to all with kids. And to those without for whatever the reason a big hug to you for the nurturing you do in your life. I had an uneventful weekend. Saturday I rested all day with a break here and there for some minor activity. Today went out for brunch at 10:30, home in bed by noon and slept until 5! I think they should add two glasses of champagne a day to recovery instructions because that surely knocked me out! Lol I'm recasting tonight in preparation for work this week and PS visit on tuesday. Thought I would post some pics. Can't wait to get tape and other gunk off so I can get a better idea of what they look like. Updated on 10 May 2016: Saw nurse Sarah today and had my tape, glue and sutures removed. It was not painful at all but I was nervous about the drainage I've been having at the T on my right breast. Sarah quickly eased my fears and told me that nothing had opened up. There are a few bloody spots from some large suture knots that came out but otherwise I am shocked at how good the scars look. I start scar massage tonight, twice a day with the aloe gel provided. I need to shower tonight and hopefully get the last if the marker off. There is still some pretty sticky glue/tape residue under my arms but that should come off in a bit. I did she'd a large piece of skin off my left nipple but Sarah said that was normal... Kind of like a snake shedding skin ;). I'm shedding my old self and embracing the new me! Updated on 11 May 2016: Updated on 15 May 2016: Tank tops with no bra Strappy tops with no bra Dresses!!! Dresses!!! Dresses!!!!! Shirts that button down the front! I'm loving doing a double take at everything I've always had to avoid. And I'm really beside myself when those strap it little tops slither right into place! Updated on 16 May 2016: 24 days post op and the good is starting to outweigh the bad ( or discomfort). I've turned a corner on pain, low energy and uncontrollable swelling. I'm also not as concerned about my breast incisions opening or infection. I started scar massage last Tuesday as instructed by my PS and that is going ok.- yes just ok. I was prepared for it to be sore but first time I massaged it was really stinging. I waited to the next day and it was better. But I did pop something at the end of the scar under my armpit. That was sickening. The next day the inner scars under breast had a pimple looking spots pop up, internal stitches? They are way to sore to touch. So I'm just doing the best I can with it and will keep on. I'm having some upper back pain from the change in posture that 4 lbs off my chest has made. I still finding myself hunched over my desk. I'm trying hard to sit up tall, shoulders back and engaged abs... But after 5 hours I'm sore. That said, who cares because I'm buying the cutest clothes!!!! :) 3 dresses, adorable tops that I will not be wearing a bra with, tank tops, pjs !!! I'm in heaven and can't get enough of trying in all the things I just had to pass by for years! This surgery is life changing. Updated on 21 May 2016: I've been trying to get to my 4 week post op report since Thursday but I've been too busy. Yup, feeling really great. Out to dinner Thursday night, worked all week and... Cleaned my house this morning. Yes, a mixed blessing for sure. ;). After cleaning I showered and then took my daughter and friends shopping for four hours, hit the grocery store and then drove girls to a play. Resting now until I pick them up but resting, not passing out from exhaustion and pain/ swelling. So for me the four week mark really was a turning point. I'm massaging scars and had my first spitting suture last night which was rather gross. I saw a red bump above my scar and when I rubbed my finger over it a lot of white goo came out and what I think was some gelatinous suture. Could do without anymore of those but I'm sure there are more to come. I'm more comfortable in some of my other sports bras as well and did buy a back close soft 36 c bra in Magenta that fits beautifully. The band is soft, cups are lightly padded and I can adjust the strap a which I need since my breasts sit quite high. No side boob, no extra boob falling out the top, it's a miricle! I called my surgeon my angel when I saw her at 1 week visit and she said "I'm no angel" but she is to me. She changed my life in such a profound way it's hard to describe as those of you who have done this know. Pics to follow. Updated on 21 May 2016: Updated on 24 Jun 2016: At 9 weeks life is really back to normal for me. I'm sleeping well, back to stomach and side sleeping for weeks now with zero issues. We are remodeling the house, working & getting ready for Maui in 9 days!!! Shopping for clothes is wonderful as tops I never would have looked twice at just slither right on. I'm not having the bra shopping dilemma because I never wear one. NEVER! Yup I'm the 51 year old braless wonder :) So how are the breasts.....my right breast has continued to be the front runner in healing and is now looking wonderful. The shape is gorgeous, perky and natural looking. I had a very large suture knot removed at the T a few weeks back and have a small scab that keeps flaking off. PS nurse says it's a surface scab and will resolve with no issues. My scars on the right feel great, pretty smith but I'm still wondering if there is more suture to come out. Why ? You ask... Well let's talk about the left breast. AKA The Problem Child as PS nurse calls it. Slower to heal since the start, it is still not where righty is. I ended up with a stich access 2 weeks ago and went in to have it taken care of. A few numbing shots and out came the offending string. Warm compresses everyday and pushing to express any fluid went well and within 2 days nothing was coming out. Things were healing and scab was minimal. Then last night I felt the end of what I thought was the scab sticking up but instead ended up pulling out 4 1/2 inches of suture! I'm still grossed out by it. And I know there is more in there. My breast feels tender, scar is lumpy and red in a couple areas. For some reason this breast wants everything OUT. So I'll just take it day by day. In the grand scheme of things it's really not a big deal to me. Still a lot of healing time to go. Will post a few pics later.
I am so thrilled with the results of my surgery. I waited years to have the surgery and find the right doctor. I am so grateful for Dr. Nygaard. I read a lot of reviews and interviewed other surgeons. Dr Nygaard is far above the the others, so personable and very attentive to my wants and concerns. She is amazing.
