I would give 10 stars if I could! When I look in the mirror, I see hope

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Amalfi. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy in August of 2019. I had immediate reconstruction with a different plastic surgeon, who placed expanders at the time of my mastectomy. I unfortunately lost them four months later to a suspected infection, which turned out not to be an infection after all.

After completing chemotherapy and radiation, simple reconstruction was no longer an option and I underwent bilateral latissimus dorsi flap reconstruction in February 2021 with that same plastic surgeon. The result of that surgery was horrible asymmetry with implants that were too small, too far apart and had no projection. I knew I had to find a new plastic surgeon, and Dr. Amalfi came very highly recommended by both my oncologist and my breast surgeon.

I was told Dr. Amalfi was the very best surgeon for breast reconstruction revision, and they were right! I had a fairly extensive revision surgery in October 2021, during which Dr. Amalfi cleared away a lot of scar tissue, placed larger implants with a higher profile, and did fat grafting from my tummy and flanks to my breasts.

The results are amazing and I could not be happier. In the nearly two years that have passed since my first attempt at reconstruction failed, I have not been able to look in the mirror because what looked back at me was just an ugly reminder of my cancer. Now when I look in the mirror, I see hope. I can never thank Dr. Amalfi for giving me back that hope - it has truly changed my life.
