I had saline implants at age 18 in 1998 and loved them! Before the augmentation I was almost completely felt chested. After the surgery with 300cc saline implants, I finally looked like a girl. I was very pleased with the results for years. Even after having 3 babies and breastfeeding, I had some slight sagging but overall was still satisfied. Over the last two years, I noticed significant sagging, where my natural breast tissue had fallen off of the implant. However, in a good bra and clothes, it was not noticeable so I just let it be. Fast forward to January 3, 2019 and the right implant deflated. My original plastic surgeon had since retired and I am not from the Saint Louis area, so I started asking around and doing some internet research. I set up several consults and met with 5 different plastic surgeons to discuss my options. I was torn between just having the implants removed, having them removed with a lift or having them removed, replaced with silicone implants and having a lift. I knew I would really miss having boobs. I went from “no boobs” to “nice boobs” (34/36 D/DD depending on the brand) for 20+years, and I knew it would be hard to lose that. But with 3 teenagers in the house, I had settled on saving the money, just having them removed and was considering a lift depending on the cost. All of the surgeons estimated with just a lift I would probably be about a full B. Honestly, that made me very sad but I decided it would be fine and I could live with small boobs (at least I would have some boobs - I had developed some natural breast tissue over the years since my primary augmentation). The greatest benefit was just never having to worry about any future surgeries/revisions. Dr. Prada was the one plastic surgeon that addressed all of my concerns and questions. He listened to my reasoning, my questions, my doubts, my wishes. We talked about all of my options, what to expect before/during/after each procedure I was considering and what results were realistic for each option. He spent time discussing saline vs silicone with me, discussing the various options in silicone implants now, possible risks associated with each and we looked at pictures and felt the various types of implants. The overriding impression after this consult was that Dr. Prada cared - he took the time to discuss all of my options with me. I was definitely unsure of what procedure I wanted to pursue at the consultation. Dr. Prada was very patient and I did not feel rushed at all. He ensured that I had all of the information needed for me to make a decision. Cindy went though the estimates for all three procedures. She discussed the warranties for the implants, the CosmetAssure insurance (which you are automatically enrolled in) and answered any other questions. After I saw all of the plastic surgeons I had set up consults with, I called Cindy at Dr. Prada’s office to schedule - removal of the saline implant, replacement with Natrelle InspiraSoftTouch silicone implants and a bilateral vertical mastopexy. Surgery was February 27, 2019.
