I Deeply Regret Choosing This Surgeon

I’ve undergone three breast surgeries with Dr. Revis. The first gave decent results, but I developed chronic pain on the right side, which I later learned was due to permanent green sutures (“internal bra”). I brought this up several times over the years, but was repeatedly told it didn’t seem concerning and would likely resolve. It did not.

For the second surgery (a reduction and donut lift), I hoped to go significantly smaller. I was told a donut lift could achieve this, but immediately after surgery I was told I’d actually need an anchor lift for the outcome I wanted. Had I known that upfront, I would’ve chosen it. This felt misleading, and I later saw reviews from other patients describing similar experiences.

In my third and final surgery, I had a lift, reduction, implant exchange, and contracture repair. I emphasized wanting to go smaller and asked for my areolas (left irregular from the donut lift) to be corrected. I didn’t feel my concerns were taken seriously, and the results reflected that.

Post-op, the right-side pain worsened and was visibly linked to puckering from the green sutures. The pain was intense and required more medication than expected.

Ten days after surgery, I developed sudden, painful swelling, fever, and rash in my left breast. I went to the ER and was diagnosed with a hematoma. I had followed post-op instructions and avoided lifting, despite being told I could lift my 25-lb child at day 7. The hematoma still occurred. Surgeons I consulted later said a late-onset hematoma like this was highly unusual.

Dr. Revis recommended waiting to see if it would resolve. When I reported a fever, I was told not to worry because I was on antibiotics. I received no follow-up from his office after that. Other surgeons told me it was a medical emergency and warned that if untreated, it could lead to another contracture. They also advised against reusing the same implant, which had been suggested.

I chose to explant. A CT scan raised concerns, and my new surgeon noted odd tissue placement and a strange muscle pocket. During explant, the green sutures causing chronic pain were removed and that pain is finally gone.

Unfortunately, I still have asymmetry in size and position, areolas that are uneven in shape and placement, and lingering pain on one side. I now face additional surgeries to correct this. I’ve spent over $25,000 and am still healing. I reached out for a refund and never received a reply. After trusting him for years and referring friends, I deeply regret my experience.
