Provider Review
Consultation Date: April 18th, 2023 Surgery Date: June 1st, 2023 Date of Review: Aug 6th, 2023- 8.5 weeks post-op Procedure: Bilateral Breast Aug + Mastopexy [Mentor 270cc silicone Mod-+ round, smooth implants] After losing 70+lbs over 3+ years, I was left with little to no tissue, skin laxity, and a less than womanly frame. I was cautious about moving forward with surgical intervention as it was never something I had done or considered in the past, financially, I was uncertain as to what to expect, and OBVIOUSLY I was concerned I might be mislead or end up regretting my decision. Before going into the details of my surgeon and his beautiful clinic, let me strongly highlight the following: If you feel nervous, confused, scared, or anything other than PURE EXCITEMENT at your consults (wherever they may be), you NEED to say something. If your surgeon can explain anything differently and assuage your concerns, you need to give them the opportunity. More importantly, when you find your perfect match wth a clinician, you will KNOW IT. Just like I did: After looking on social media and reviews and almost heading stateside for a consultation, I found a plastic surgeon in Toronto, ONT who intrigued me enough to just go get some information. (Famous last words, am I right?) My experience in my consultation was something that exceeded my expectations in EVERY manner. This is not a sales pitch; I firmly believe you get a feeling when you meet the right person for a moment in your life and my surgeon, along with his team, were indescribably everything I needed to feel confident. For you, it might be someone else. But for me, these are the things I most appreciated: My surgeon books a 45 minute in person [or virtual] consultation. He spent the entire 45 minutes speaking with me. Not a nurse or a consultant- my SURGEON. - feeling listened to, taught, and encouraged to ask questions made me feel like I would be understood and not mislead. He had a nurse who would scribe and gave me every minute of attention, thoroughly encouraging me to "ask the silly questions because thats why we're here!" He gave me some homework after discussing techniques and materials (saline VS silicone). I had to find 5 photos of augmentation results I liked, and 5 with qualities that I did NOT like. He encouraged me to find pictures that were similar to my own body (this sounds obvious, but it was very useful to mention so that I did not return showing totally different breasts than I could even get!) I was to return in a month for my "sizing appointment" where we would use the 3D imaging program he uses to "try on" some options. There are views for adding a lift, seeing their settled position, and using multiple brands which I felt was a nice change from so many aesthetic programs (I work in sales too) that I use where it is HEAVILY brand influenced and the competitors products are not integrated. Once we finished the consultation, Anna, the clinic's Director of Operations and Sales, took me into her office, she ensured that she had all of the pertinent information from Dr Boudana before coming in to discuss potential next steps together with me. I'll mention again, I work in nonsurgical aesthetic sales, so I am possibly SLIGHTLY too aware of sales techniques and closing styles. The manner in which this consultation was conducted is nothing short of elite. Anna provided information about their policies regarding booking surgery dates, bloodwork or pre-surgical components that would need to be completed, and what to expect. I HAD to ask the question we all end up asking; "Hypothetically, when COULD I get this done?" She mentioned there was one availability in 4 weeks, and another 6 weeks away. She also mentioned the surgical schedule was more open in August, but would fill up quickly as they typically see these trends at the end of the summer. Their policy for booking a surgery date is a 20% deposit. I asked if there was wiggle room in case the day had to change for whatever reason, Anna encouraged me to really think about it instead of rushing to book just to close the purchase right then and there. I also learned about their financing options which I think are GREAT! I ended up putting down 20% in clinic for the 6 weeks away date (June 1st 2023). I was booked 2 weeks before my surgery for my "sizing" appt where I got to look more closely at my 3D imaging prediction photos, as well as try on the actual implants. Anna was once again a super-star and tracked down a post-surgical bra for me to use so that I could put the implants into something as this itty-bitty-t*tty-committee member did not bring a bra to her consult (in my defense, TO HOLD WHAT BREASTS?). Surgery day: My surgery was scheduled for 8am but I was told to arrive bright and early at 7am. All of the paperwork is sent beforehand and is to be completed at least 24 hours prior to surgery. This is a fantastic way to not "waste time" on the day and also great to not make patients feel rushed or answer this paperwork in a nervous or distracted mindset. I was told my pre-op instructions to not eat after midnight and picked up my prescribed medications a few days prior, bringing them to my appt as I was told I should. I got an anti-nausea pill which I cannot say how thankful I am for as I have a tendency to become nauseated after anesthesia (I had to be out to sleep for kidney stones in 2016, my only surgical experience prior to my implants). I was also given muscle relaxants and pain management. My pre-op nurse, Nurse Cindy, was amazing at keeping me from getting nervous and making sure I followed the rules leading up to today (no piercings, no eating, no health issues etc). We went upstairs BECAUSE THEY HAVE THEIR OWN OPERATING ROOMS INSIDE THE SAME BUILDING!!! (this was amazing. the entire experience was so calm and not busy, they even have a back exit for pick-up so you do not even walk more than 5 steps outside of their building! Dr Chan, my anesthesiologist, was immensely empathetic; he saw that the IV was going to make me nervous (I have an absurdly embarrassing fear of bloodwork and IV's that I am NOT proud of) he offered to give me a little inhaled anesthesia so I would not be making non-stop eye contact with him while silently sobbing as he looked for a vein on my hand (looking back, I feel the offered sevoflurane may have been for everyones benefit....). I remember inhaling twice, saying I felt nothing, then seemingly 5 seconds later, awaking in the post-op room. I still stop and think about how flawless everything went and would never believe it if I hadn't been the patient. I was given an info-packet with post-op care, already woke up in my surgical bra and was told to not touch the area until tomorrow. I was provided multiple avenues of contacting Dr Boudana should I need to for any reason- this was very reassuring but I was happy that I had a very uneventful recovery :) Week 1: On June 8th, I met with nurse Courage to take some photos, check healing, and switch my surgical tapes to fresh ones. She was so gentle and kind! Dr Boudana had told me to not be surprised if my implants were "riding very high" because of the mastopexy swelling and my smaller frame. Week 2: On June 15th, I had my second set of tape taken off and was told they could stay off. Dr Boudana looked at the scars and gave me the green light to start massage to encourage the implants to drop as well as massage of the scars to soften them. I was told I could also graduate to a light support bralette during the day, and moderate support at night so that the implants would not be encouraged to move away from each other should as I have a smaller ribcage and had some "side-boob" that needed to settle. The square-shape had begun to soften and the implants were slowly getting lower which was exciting to see already! My next appt will be mid-September for my 3 month check in. I have been told they should be about 70% or more "settled" but was informed the official final result will still take one full year and any revision would not be able to be determined until 6 months. (I do not anticipate changing anything- I am IN LOVE with the girls but having this understanding and timeline is amazing for their patients!) 1 month: approximately 5 weeks after my surgery, my right infra-mammary (breast fold) scar seemed to have a little almost "pimple." I thought it was nothing, but felt comfortable enough to reach out to Anna and Dr Boudana for confirmation; Within 3 minutes of sending my first email, I had a reply from Anna. Within 5 minutes of following up with photos of the "pimple," Dr Boudana had been informed, evaluated my photos, AND replied back directly to my email. He explained that it was likely a tiny suture knot causing some sensitivity, and after following his instructions, in fact, a tiny little splinter of suture ended up spitting right out and everything went back to perfect! I was told to keep everyone in the loop and not one person made me feel as if I had over-worried. 2 months (today): Today, I have no pain, no numbness anywhere, and I can really see the shape of the implants softening. I continue to use silicone gel on the scars though they are BARELY visible. After speaking with many colleagues who had done surgical breast revisions and obviously showing them the girls, I must say that every single person has been utterly ASTOUNDED by the appearance of my scars. Two dear friends even went for consultations AND BOOKED THEIR SURGERIES with Dr Boudana. One of them had never even TOLD ME she had a major concern that bothered her SO MUCH and affected her SO DEEPLY until she saw how much of an impact Dr Boudana had on me. She called me crying from happiness immediately after her consultation to tell me she felt the exact same feeling that I did when I met everyone at Forest Hill Plastic Surgery. Her surgery is booked for September. I cannot say enough positive remarks about my experience and everyone at Forest Hill Plastic Surgery. If it is a clinic you are considering reaching out to, this is your sign to do it. If this is not a clinic you have considered yet, I cannot urge you strongly enough to reach out to them or at the very least look them up on their social media pages and go through the plethora of question and answer sessions, before and after photos, patient testimonials, and pricing information. I have yet to find another Surgeon who dedicates half as much effort as Dr Boudana does into showcasing the transparency and quality that is offered here. Merci, Merci, Merci Beaucoup!!
