On June 1st 2023 I underwent bilateral breast augmentation and vertical+peri-areolar lift. I chose 270cc Mentor silicone implants with a moderate plus profile. As this was my first (and to-date only!) surgical procedure, my decision to undergo cosmetic surgery was not an impulsive one; as a medical consultant for non-surgical treatments, I am almost neurotically aware of "what could go wrong" and when you spend your entire day spouting the benefits of non-surgical, it really takes EVERYTHING GOING RIGHT to make me take the plunge. Because of this, I relied HEAVILY on all the testimonials on RealSelf and why I chose to post about my own experience as I do not know if I would have done it without this community (my surgeon is AWESOME, don't get me wrong- but I needed to feel that comfort of reading through 100+ similar posts before booking my date. I'll try to organize everything as best as I can, please always feel free to reach out to me for ANYTHING THOUGH Background: Growing up I was always a little heavier. It fluctuated and I became good at "losing" weight for events or short periods, but it always JUST. CAME. RIGHT. BACK. In medical school, I hit about 180lbs (I am 156cm, so 5 feet). After creating a much more positive relationship with my body, I managed to keep the weight and habits away for 3 years; it has become a lifestyle at this point and I can finally leave snacks on the counter instead of bingeing. But when I look at my body, I see loose tissue where my (still never big) breasts once were. I did not wear a bra for years but I imagine a 32 A would suffice pre-surgery. I did not bother me too much that I did not have TATA'S. It was the fact that tops never fit me (I thought losing weight would make dress up FUN!!!??!) and the laxity I would see constantly that made me think about implants. After looking on social media and reviews and almost heading stateside for a consultation, I found a plastic surgeon in Toronto, ONT who intrigued me enough to just go get some information. (Famous last words, am I right?) My experience in my consultation was something that exceeded my expectations in every manner. This is not a sales pitch; I firmly believe you get a feeling when you meet the right person for a moment in your life and my surgeon, along with his team, were indescribably everything I needed to feel confident. For you, it might be someone else. But for me, these are the things I appreciated: - My surgeon books a 45 minute in person or virtual consultation. He spent the entire 45 minutes speaking with me. Not a nurse or a consultant- my SURGEON. - feeling listened to, taught, and encouraged to ask questions made me feel like I would be understood and not mislead. CHOOSING THE IMPLANTS: Material- size- projection- technique Material: SILICONE I am slim and do not weight lift. We decided saline was not a good option as it may ripple on a thin frame. Size: 270CC We used a 3D imaging software which I LOVED (and there is a very simple free version for iphone- crisalix by natrelle). We looked at 240, 270, and 310 cc. I did not want to look fake, just proportionate and womanly. I did not see much of a difference between the 240 and 270, we chose 270 as I had a level 2 ptosis/droop so the larger implant MIGHT negate the need for a lift (it didnt, but I was not relying on this). Projection: We elected moderate plus profile for fullness to the lower pole but no top cleavage to keep it more natural and still fit my frame. I have a 25 inch bra band/ribcage and my implants were each 10 cm in diameter so no overflow into side-boob but not too gappy in the front. Technique: subfascial- I was quickly told that because I do not have much glandular tissue, a superficial technique might not be ideal. With Sub muscular, the implants do not always look as natural as they would with a dual-plane approach. This way the muscle underneath will hold the implants up years after the surgery but they will still look soft and natural as they are not underneath the pectoralis. My incision was infra-mammary for the implant and less than 2cm. I am currently 5.5 weeks post-op and will add photos to this post as soon as I compile them and continue to add on as they "drop & fluff" into their final spots! Updated on 6 Aug 2023: update 1: April 2023 (consult) - JUNE 1ST Surgery day After losing almost 75 lbs and keeping the weight off, I had deflated, floppy, breast tissue. I was surprised to hear that I had a grade 1-2 ptosis of the nipples (so they were lower than ideal) which would require a mastopexy in addition to implants. My surgeon was absolutely amazing in that he explained the benefits and risks of mastopexy VS "just" implants. Updated on 6 Aug 2023: Healing was pretty smooth sailing for me- I was off pain meds after 2 days and relied mostly on warm compresses when my shoulder muscles started to ache (totally normal if doing dual plane or submuscular implants). Things I would recommend:-buy the pillow to help you sleep upright. Melatonin is also your friend.-I was provided a post-op bra, but I cannot say enough reasons to go buy a long sleeve compression top- the ones on Amazon that I saw were for brachoplasties, but after the first night, I had significant swelling in my right axilla and after buying the long sleeve compression, NEVER had that problem again! I truly believe it helped in minimizing discomfort as well!- Eat lots of fruit. Its easy to digest, you probably won't feel very hungry anyway, and if you want to avoid any constipation post-op, fruit fruit fruit!- Plan beforehand: while you should have someone taking care of you for a few days, for about 2-3 weeks, raising your arms above your shoulders might feel tight and uncomfy- make sure you can reach anything you might need to reach before you let your helper leave for the day! (I drank from bowls for a whole day after realizing all of my mugs were above my range of motion so dont be like me!) Updated on 9 Sep 2023: So I've finally compiled a set of post-op progress photos. Please feel free to message if there are any specific updates that might be helpful- Ive got my follow up this week and continue to feel like this was the BEST decision ever! Updated on 14 Oct 2023: Scars are healing amazingly after just over four months. Today, I am going to get RF and microneedling over my abdomen for the max skin I have from weight loss as well as have them resurface the scars from my incisions. I will post and update after my three sessions and hope to have invisible scars by then! Updated on 18 Nov 2023: The girls are continuing to settle and soften, I have not been taking weekly progress pics as I’ve really gotten used to their presence! I es quite pleasantly surprised to see they’re still softening me rounding out. I continue to be elated with my decision!
I first consulted with Dr. Boudana in late February on the recommendation of a friend. I thought I had already chosen the surgeon of my preference but I decided to get the second consultation anyway. Upon meeting Dr. Boudana and Nurse Courage I felt very comfortable and at ease. I explained to them both my desired outcome and goals with surgery and Dr. Boudana was honest with his professional recommendations of what would and wouldn't be required. I felt confident in his plan and feedback and by the end of the consultation I was booking my surgery date with hesitation. From consult to surgery Dr. Boudana, Nurse Courage and the lovely Anna have been incredibly professional, forthcoming, and reassuring. They were supportive when I had some reservations about surgery and recovery and I was never made to feel like a burden with the many communications I had with Anna ahead of my surgery date. The pre and post-op care on surgery day were unsurpassed. From Dr. Chan the anesthesiologist who was so gentle and caring when inserting my IV, to the nurse who massaged my legs as I fell asleep, and to Boris the recovery nurse - the entire surgical day was a breeze. The continued post-op care from Dr. Boudana and Nurse Courage has exceeded my every expectation. I am infinitely grateful to the entire team at Forest Hill Plastic Surgery for the care, compassion, professionalism and best of all the beautiful results of my surgery. It is so freeing and exhilarating to see a body in which I feel beautiful when I look in the mirror and it has done absolute wonders for my self-confidence.
January 2023 was the beginning of the real me after extreme weight loss. I had both an abdominoplasty and backlift done with Dr.Boudana and could not have asked for a better result. 5 stars is not enough. April 2023 I had a brachioplasty done on my arms and started the liposuction needed on my thighs to complete on a later date. Dr. Boudana will always be my go to for anything cosmetic. He is the best in my eyes.
I met with a total of 5 surgeons regarding my breast reduction. After I met with Dr. Boudana I knew he was the one I wanted. I'm currently 4moths PO and I have no complaints at all. I am so happy and had no complications. The team is helpful and answer all questions in a timely manner. I cannot wait to show them off this summer!
I went to see Dr Boudana after I already had 4 consultations. The consultation with Dr Boudana was so different in the sense that I felt that he was taking his time, explaining everything and doing a thorough exam. He was very personable and I could tell that he really cares for the patients. I wanted to get implants and he convinced me not to...he said that I could just do a lift and get the results I was hoping for and guess what? he was right. I am 4 month out and I love my results. Also, he was the only surgeon that recommended an extended tummy tuck without a vertical scar. The others wanted to cut me open in the middle of my stomach and create a vertical scar in the middle. On top of that, the other plastic surgeons wanted to use drain as they said they couldn't do a tummy tuck without it as it was risky. Again, Dr Boudana was right: 4 month out and my tummy is flat and I love my curves. All this without a vertical scar and without drains. I wish I had know about him before, I wouldn't have waisted my money on other consultations. So this is my advise to you if you are looking for some "body work": Don't waist your time and money on useless consultations, Dr Boudana is the best.
I had the best experience with Dr. Boudana! All the way from his attentive consultation to Pre-op discussions, the surgery itself and post surgery care! My surgery was on Dec-12-2022, his attention to details, strive to perfection - are second to none! His genuine interest in the best results possible is very touching. My incisions (backlift and front for ETT) are master class artistry! drainless, thin, fine and very tastefully crafted. My bruising from the lipo was minimal. My recovery was a breeze, I got off all pain killers by day 4, back to my 5-10km walks by end of week 4. His staff is very caring, and I was very comfortable asking questions, calling at any time. I have seen results from other surgeons (very prominent here in Toronto), on similar magnitude surgeries - my results are by far more superior! The ladies, seeing my results were genuinely jealous! (not to mention their complications from their drains) Overall, an outstanding experience - I would very highly recommend to see Dr. Boudana, to anyone who is considering a plastic surgery. I'd personally - trust no one else.
I had a tummy tuck with dr David boudana. The best experience I have ever had. He explained the whole procedure and answered all my question. Anna was so helpful and she’s the sweetest women and calmed me down every time I was nervous. All the staff there are very sweet and caring. I felt super safe even after the surgery because dr boudana is in contact with you and you can text him anytime with questions. I strongly recommend him especially because because the results are unbelievable. I feel 30 again thank you very very very much.
I had a tummy tuck with liposuction and breast augmentation with Dr Boudana 6 month ago and the result is exceeding my expectations. I have never felt this happy about the way my body looks. Dr Boudana an his team were very professional and I recommend him to everyone looking for a plastic surgeon in Toronto.
I had the best experience from the very first visit. He took the time with me to go over every question and listened to what I wanted. My results are better than I could have ever imagined he has changed my life!! The most important is his bedside manner and the after care that is given 24/7 if you need him he is there personally that speaks for it self. He is the best of the best !! I am so grateful I found him
I had a breast reduction done by Dr. Boudana and it went amazing! I am a man and I was always insecure about my breast but Dr. Boudana did his magic on me and made me 10 times more confident! Thank you for everything!
Hello Thank you for your question. Improving the shape and size of breast after explant surgery can be achieved by different type of procedures. The best time to do it, in my opinion, is at the same time that the explant surgery. That being said, it is possible to perform these procedure years after the explantation but they can be a little more challenging. You should seek a consultation by a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss the best option for you. But here are the most common options: - Fat injection to the breast : after performing a liposuction, the surgeon will inject your fat to the breast to improve the shape and the volume. This can be combined with any type of breast lift. - Implant surgery: if you still consider breast implants, that can be an option - mastopexy and gland reshaping: that would remove the excess skin and replace the nipple and areola at the right hight as well as improve the shape of the breast overall. This will not address volume but It can be combined with fat injection if needed. Again, I recommend you see a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss the best option for you and obtain proper information on the risks and benefits of each procedure.
Hello and thank you for your question. Breast implants can be placed either above or under the muscle. There are multiple factors that are taken into consideration when choosing breast implant placement. I would recommend that you visit a board certified plastic surgeon to choose the best option for you.
I would suggest you consult a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your expectations in term of results and to get a full clinical assessment That being said, you might be a good candidate for subglandular or dual plane breast augmentation alone. But mastopexy with augmentation might be an option as well depending on the type of result you are seeking
From the pictures you provided it appears that you have a good result but a liposuction of the flanks or a lipo 360 would be beneficial. You should talk to your plastic surgeon about it.
Based on the pictures you provided it is very difficult to assess the need for a lift. I would suggest you contact a board certified plastic surgeon.I find that bringing a “goal picture” is helpful for the PS to understand you you really want
