Implants Under Local Anesthesia, While Awake. 250 Low Plus Silicone Above the Muscle

I wanted to share my positive result of above the muscle, small volume silicone breast implants, that were placed under local anesthesia by Dr. Anna, while I was awake!
I was having trouble finding a surgeon that I vibed with locally. None of them were interested in seeing my inspiration photos and were pressuring me to go larger than I wanted. I kept seeing Dr. Anna’s educational videos on Tik Tok and really liked her focus on small volume, elegant implants. I had a virtual consult with her and after learning I was a good candidate, we moved forward with a surgical date and I booked my trip to NYC.
I did above the muscle because I’m active and wanted a quicker recovery with less post-op pain and restrictions. From Tik Tok, I knew she offered local anesthesia for above the muscle, so I went that route because I knew there’d be minimal side effects, I’d be able to leave immediately after surgery, have a quicker recovery, and skip the anesthesia fees.
I arrived to NYC and had a face-to-face consult where she measured my chest and explained how the width of your breast actually dictates which implants to use. I felt informed every step of the way and really liked how she took the time to review my inspo photos and discuss realistic expectations. She just had a great bedside manner and really made me feel like she cared. As a nurse, this was super important to me.
Surgery was so quick and easy. The only discomfort was the initial numbing injection, similar to if you’ve ever had stitches – like a quick bee sting, no big deal. They gave me a valium beforehand, so any nerves I had faded away, and I was able to talk to them throughout the entire surgery and pick my music. After, they helped me get dressed and I walked back to The Shoreham Hotel on 55th Street, which ended up being a good, lower cost alternative to stay at. I walked back the next day for a post-op check-in and then flew home to the west coast a couple of days later. I did virtual check-ins a handful of times throughout the next year to make sure everything was going smooth.
I ended up choosing the 250cc SSLP (low plus) natrelle inspira soft touch implant. I was REALLY teetering between the 250 low plus and the 310 moderate profile, but I was afraid of ending up “too big”. Dr. Anna explained how I may not even notice the extra 60ccs if I picked the 310 and how once placed inside my body, the implant wouldn’t look as big as it does when trying them on inside my bra. She was right, and I should have listened to her because I think I would have enjoyed the rounder upper pole shape from the moderate profile a little bit more, but I’m so happy with everything and cannot praise her and the team enough for the wonderful care they provided. They were easy to get in touch with, addressed all of my questions and concerns, and made me feel valued. I’m so glad I chose them for this journey. And if you’re considering local anesthesia, DO IT!
