A Pattern of Dismissiveness That Affected More Than Just Me
In March 2023, I underwent breast implant replacement and liposuction with Dr. Demianzuck. The implant results are reasonable, but the overall experience had significant issues that I feel other patients should know about.
One of my primary concerns going into surgery was tightening the pocket of my right breast, which required an internal suture. For reasons that were never explained to me, that procedure was not performed. When I brought it up during follow-up appointments, my concerns were repeatedly dismissed. I still have the loose pocket issue today, as the implant shifts noticeably when I lay down.
Regarding the liposuction, the results were more conservative than I expected. I felt that more could have been done, and I didn’t feel my goals in that area were fully met. When I expressed this concern, he pointed to my before pictures and commented that I used to be a little chubby, which was not accurate, and felt like a deflection rather than a genuine response to my concern.
During suture removal, I informed the nurse, Taran, that I could feel something poking at the incision site. She dismissed my concern. That turned out to be a retained piece of suture, which caused a wound infection and resulted in noticeable scarring.
Before my own results were final, and still trusting the process, I referred someone close to me to the practice, and she had a nearly identical experience: a wound infection from an improperly removed suture by the same nurse, in a completely different procedure. When I raised this with Dr. Demianzuck, he did not acknowledge it.
Throughout this process my concerns were consistently minimized. In speaking with others who have visited this practice, feeling unheard seems to be a common experience.
