Day after surgery

WORTH IT
My post op appointment was at 830am the next day. I had a choice to come later in the afternoon, but once I realized after the surgery that I was in no pain and okay, I knew I wanted to change my flight so that I could leave Florida the day after my surgery instead of two days after. I was trying to get tf outta Florida..coronavirus cases were like 8,9k cases a day by this point and I was itching to leave.
Anyway, I was staying at the Springhill suites down the way from the office, so I just walked over to the office for my post op. I had let my caregiver go about an hour after we arrived at the hotel after my surgery was over. It was only about a 4 minute walk, but had it been more I could have done it. That’s how good I was feeling. I’m sure Dr. Castor would not have advised it, but I know myself and my body. So I walk over, barely break a sweat, and go in. Roxy had previously told me I may have a little wait if I chose the 830 appointment so I was prepared for that. I only waited maybe 5-10 mins and then was taken back to a room. Dr Castor came in and examined me, told me I could shower the next day, asked about my pain, and told me completely deflated and then folded so that’s probably why the pocket shrunk a bit. He also said that there was a hole right where they inflate the implant and that he that he was sending it off to Allergan. My new implants ( silicone 560 Natrelle Inspira SRF) had a free warranty and replacement if need be but he didn’t foresee me needing them replaced. He then told me that my left side would probably feel tight and to massage it like I had to do with my first surgery. It did feel kind of tight and there was a definite difference in how my left and right felt. My incisions were a tiny bit sore for both but only when I moved a certain way. I literally felt like nothing had been done to my right. If I hadn’t been awake and also felt occasional pain from my incisions I would have been suspicious lol. Dr. Castor had given me an antibiotic script after my surgery and I told him I didn’t need the pain script bc I never take them. I got it filled with my first BA and didn’t take one. Waste of money. He made sure I didn’t want the pain prescription and then basically let me know if I need him I could call. That was that. I zipped up my jacket and walked back to my hotel. I had changed my flight to 530pm that day so just ate breakfast, packed my bag, called and got a late checkout (2pm instead of 12) and chilled until checkout. Waited in the lobby lounge area after that while I waited for my Lyft and then headed to airport. Can I just say how much I love the Tampa airport???!!! I’m usually in Tampa or St. Pete beach at least twice a year so I’ve been there plenty of times. But even with everything going on I loved it. Lots of food and drink options :) and plenty of comfortable seating and charging stations even before the social distancing guidelines.

Day of surgery

I arrived in Tampa the afternoon before my surgery so I had time to get plenty of rest. My appointment time was 1:30 pm. Nikki, the surgical coordinator, had advised me to make sure I ate before coming and to wear comfortable clothes with a top that opened in front.
I probably arrived about 10 min early. Roxy, the surgical coordinator greeted me and had me sign my receipts (as I paid over the phone) and my consent. Of course I had to do the pee in the cup thing, and Roxy took my vitals and weighed me. I changed into my robe so that Dr. Castor could come in and mark me up. I was told to keep my bottoms on. I wore comfortable joggers, sports bra, and a zip hoody to the procedure. I had already asked Nikki what anesthesia he would be using because I wanted to research and be prepared. So while I waited for Dr. Castor I was given 2 Vicodin, 1 Xanax, and an antibiotic, exactly as Nikki had previously told me. Then Dr. Castor came in, examined me, and then marked me up while he explained what he would be doing. He also explained how and where he would administer the numbing shots, and basically what to expect. He also told me that he may have to widen the pocket back up since sometimes they’ll shrink depending on the rupture, but that it shouldn’t be too hard because at this point it had only been 6 months for me. I didn’t have any questions so he told me that once they finished cleaning the surgery room I’d be ready to go in there. He left and then came back about 5 mins later with a form for me to sign so that he could send my ruptured implant back to Allergan because after speaking with them about any warranty I might have they asked to get it back for research purposes to find out why it ruptured. So I signed the release form and Dr. Castor mentioned that they used to pay ppl like $1200 for that but they stopped a few years back. That really sucks I would have loved that :-(

Maybe about 10 mins later, the nurse comes to get me and asks about any piercings I have. I told her I had my upper cartilage one in and she was like what about the one in your nose lmao. Anyone who’s had piercings for years knows that you tend to forget about them. I was like oh yeaa, I have a nose ring. Then I said I also have my nipples pierced but they’re plastic. I couldn’t help but laugh because she was looking at me like REALLY and she looked like she had a problem with it so I made sure to tell her that Dr. Castor let me keep them in last time too. She kind of rolled her eyes and said ok.
I get to the room and take off robe, lay on the table, and then the nurse injected me with Versed. Now, I had never had versed before so I had done a lot of research beforehand and watched countless YouTube videos of ppl on the drug. Apparently a lot of dentists use this especially when doing wisdom teeth removal. So I though I knew how it would affect me. I was so wrong. Y’all I felt like I didn’t even take anything. I was WIDE AWAKE and lucid the entire time. Not that it’s a bad thing bc it’s not but I thought I was gonna be loopy af. I know y’all have seen the funny videos of ppl after wisdom tooth extraction. Lol. —Anyway Dr. Castor came in and gave me the numbing shots in my old incisions and like the side crease of each breast. Those stung a bit, especially the side boob shots. Then he was cutting. It was a very interesting feeling. I felt absolutely no pain and no pressure from scalpel, and the only reason I knew I was cut open was because he stared pulling the deflated shell out and I could feel the movements from that. Then he had to open the pocket a bit more and I felt that. He was like using his fingers to widen the pocket and felt those movements & then I felt a couple sharp pinch like feelings and I flinched a bit. Not so much that it was painful but bc I wasn’t expecting to feel anything. It was not bad at allll. So I could feel him put the silicone in and I really don’t know how he closed me up bc I couldn’t feel anything and I didn’t ask. Then he moved to the right breast (which wasn’t deflated). That one took no time, took the old one out and put the new one in. Easy Peasy, no pain or discomfort. I’m pretty sure the nurse closes me up on that one because Dr. Castor has to leave the room and pay a repair man. Lol
—let me say this. I was awake the whole time and heard everything they talked about. Roxy even came in and told Dr Castor that the repair man wanted his check and Dr Castor told her it would be a few minutes. They did not speak to me at all during the surgery and apparently thought I was sleep?! I had my eyes closed because they had these bright af surgery lights shining down on me and I could not take it. The nurse had told me to close my eyes bc if the lifts and I tried to be hard headed and open them but those lights were soooo bright. So I kept them closed but I was definitely awake. I literally could have walked back to my hotel myself, I was mad they made me get a caretaker. I was not loopy, groggy, or anything and felt like I had taken no medicine. Dr. Castor came back in and looked me over and then the nurse helped me sit up, wrapped a bandage around me and walked me to the recovery room and they called my caretaker. I was back at my hotel by 345pm. I ate some food that I had and then watched Netflix and feel asleep and woke back up around 9pm and ate again. I had no pain or side effects from the drugs I was given.

Breast Implant Revision

I had my original BA with Dr. Castor in November of 2017. It was done inframammary, under the muscle 550 saline mod profile, I believe. December of 2019, I woke up and my left implant was obviously ruptured and over the next few days, I was totally flat. Well, not totally flat but basically pre-surgery size on one side. I was so mad. I knew this was a possibility with saline but after TWO years?

I contacted Dr. Castor and I let him know what happened. He got back to me fairly quickly (as always) and let me know my options. I was adamant that I just wanted the one fixed and was going to keep saline even though he suggested gummy bear. I just really loved how my breasts looked with the saline.

They looked totally natural, felt totally natural, were absolutely perfect pre-deflate-gate (I went from a 36b to a 36/38 dd.) I for some reason felt like silicone looked, faker. Anyway, since I’m a teacher, I was going to try to wait until March and spring break to come to Tampa but then Covid19 came along and completely destroyed all plans. But I had a lot of time to think and ultimately decided to take Dr. Castor’s suggestion and go silicone and get both replaced. Once their office opened back up in May I called and got a June 29 appointment. Also this time I chose to do awake surgery (local anesthesia).
