Breast Augumentation - Revision - Ireland - Dublin
WORTH IT
Hi,
I'm going to have a Breast surgery revision soon, and I thought I would share some information & checklist with you, that I did not know about before I had my first BA.
Here my checklist
1. How to find your board plastic surgeon if you live in Ireland.
I suggest you to go to your GP as she/he can send to the best plastic surgeon for your case, don’t go into this alone and without having all the necessary information, this is about your body and it’s going to be one of the biggest decision in your life. You will be charged for most likely for the consultations, but it’s money well spent, when you take such a big decision.
For the Irish readers here the IAPS (Irish Association Plastic Surgeons) website
http://www.plasticsurgery.ie/find-a-surgeon/
Their Professional competence link, explains in details what these 'fancy letters' means. It's important to know the difference, so I would give it a good read if I were you (in case you are having your BA in Ireland).
http://www.plasticsurgery.ie/professional-competence
Here I quote some main information.
Use of the letters FRCS(Plast) after a surgeons name denotes they have passed this examination. The surgeon must also receive satisfactory competency reports from their 6 years of HST training and only then may apply to the Medical Council for a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST). They are then eligible to have their name entered on the Specialist Register Of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery of the Medical Council.
The term Cosmetic Surgeon is not a qualification used by the Medical Council or by The Royal College Of Surgeons. Unfortunately, there are a number of doctors using the term Cosmetic Surgeon without holding any surgical qualifications. These doctors may be entered on the General Register of the Medical Council (rather than Specialist Register). In Ireland, The only recognized formal training for Cosmetic Surgery in Ireland and the UK, is the FRCS(Plast) as described above, and members of the public should check their plastic surgeon is suitably qualified.

2. Go to more than one consultant. In my opinion, It’ better to have different opinions, before you take any decision.
3. Before you go to the consultation, find a ‘wish picture’ or ‘goal picture’ – how would you like your breast to look like. I would also suggest to bring also a ‘no picture’, as example of how you don’t want your breast to look like, so in this way it would be easier for ps understanding which goal you are trying to achieve.
Take also in consideration that plastic surgeons are not ‘wizards’ a lot depends on your anatomy, skin, amount of breast tissues, measurements etc.
4. Bring a notepad with you and write down all the critical information about your possible surgery, in my opinion, it’s better to have at least a basic understanding of the procedure and what’s going to be put in your body:
Example
1. Your measurements (breast and chest dimension)
2. Implant shape suggested for your case and why
3. Profile implant type
4. Implant dimensions (width, height)
5. Implant material
6. Implant placement (submuscular, or subglandular, dual plane 1,2 or 3 etc) and why (this depends on your anatomy and on the result that you are trying to achieve, from what I understand.
Here a question about the dual plane procedure if you want to know more about it.
https://www.realself.com/question/the-dual-plane-method-for-breast-augmentation-breast-implants
I would also ask the following
1. Are the implant FDA approved?
2. What’s the implant warranty in case of CC, or implant rupture or rotation
3. What’s their revision policy?
And of course if you have any other question, bring it with you. This is what I can think of from my experience.
I would not base my plastic surgeon choice on the price, as the body it’s not a ‘car’, we have just one and we want to have just the best for ourself.
Ask for a quote as well with a breakdown if you want, usually it should list surgeon fees, implant fee, hospital fees etc.
I hope this helps.
I'm having different consultations at the moment for my revision
I have a couple of surgery dates booked. I'm still evaluating to which surgeon I will go for in the end, as I want to take the time to take the right decision.
I hope to get it done soon. I will post before and after pictures in the near future.
I will have a capsulectomy with pocket change.

I LOVE this - such good advice. I have so much family in Ireland am there right all the time - I actually just had a conversation with my friend there today about her epistiomy (if thats how you spell it?!) scar and stitches after she had her baby so slightly different but she was saying that there is literally no information about the 'intimiate' nature of stuff like that for first time Mums and how she would love her boobs done but would have no clue where to start. Like I said I have cousins who had them done in London but there are good surgeons in Ireland it's just a matter of knowing where to go and this is so important for girls over there cause defos not something that is openly discussed. Hopefully it will also mean that the surgeons to be avoided don't get the chance to botch as many people either - knowledge is power x
February 12, 2017
:) you are so right Glitter ! Knowledge is power. After writing this post, I realised how much I did not know about BA when I went for my first one. What's this op your friend is getting ? I never heard of it before. x
February 12, 2017
:-) she didn't have an op she just had to have a cut when she was giving birth - a T shaped scar apparently 'down there' which she was not prepared for! So she says things look different but fine even though she is annoyed no one discussed it with her or warned her before! X
February 12, 2017
Oh that must be really annoying...especially if nobody told her before hand. Is she trying any silicone gel sheet in combination with some cream or bio-oil ? They can really make scars improving so much if you use them daily . X
February 12, 2017
Yeah she got creams and stuff she is totally fine now thank you though xx

Hi
where did you get your breast augmentation done?
April 13, 2017
If you want to get them done in Dublin I would suggest you to do your 'homework' and make sure your Plastic surgeon is a real one. For some reason the Irish law allow people who are not qualified as Plastic surgeon to perform 'plastic surgery' procedures....Also make sure that your Implants are FDA approved. Any Plastic surgery procedure is not a Gut decision...it's your body and there is no turning back. Choose your plastic surgeon carefully. I posted links above where you can check if a doctor is a real plastic surgeon or not. Best of luck !

These are the results you get when your breast augmentation is done by someone who is not a real plastic surgeon.

hi Kimne! thanks for your msg and good luck with your operation ! I wish you all the best [RS bleep]
For the checklist I I actually forgot to add - 4. Ask if you have any asymmetry and 6.What's the implant brand? 5. What's the implant model? (if you are very curious you can find the catalogue online; with this I don't mean to suggest that you pick up the implant yourself, as we are not ps. I have been suggested different implant models for my revision, so this time to know more I looked them up on the net )
And another suggestion would be doing the rice test - despite the fact is not accurate, I think it would be good to do, in order to see if you actually feeling comfortable with certain sizes - you could just wear them around this house. I can't do this because I have already implants, but if it's your first BA I would definitely try it.
There is this realselfvideo about how to make them:
