dr eugene kim is an excellent surgeon, recovery was a breeze compared to my previous one. his anesthesiologist (dr odell) is also excellent, he answered all of my questions and soothed my anxiety and trauma with going under. all the surgical staff are very nice and the surgery day was a good experience. price is reasonable, i am still early in the process and looking forward to the end results.

Detailed Review and Before/After Photos - 5'3 105 lbs - 500cc HP

I initially had 325cc hp mentor implants done outside of the US last 2017. i loved how natural it looked and felt, it was very jiggly, squishy and nobody knew my breasts were fake until they saw the horrible scars. the breasts fit my body frame perfectly and gave me curves i never had as i was built like a stick figure. the big problems were the lateral displacement of the left breast, it would slide all the way to my back when I laid down, and the horrible scars underneath. i went to 10 consultations over the past couple of years and thought that if i would have to go under to fix the lateral displacement issue, then i might as as well go bigger - more on this later.
ultimately, i picked dr eugene kim for a couple of reasons: he had experience and results using 'internal sutures' to fix lateral displacement, while the others wanted to use absorbable mesh. dr kim also made the best scars and nicest incisions i had ever seen, especially for primary augmentations. lastly, he has a lot of petite asian patients like myself, with nice results on his ig page.
i am more than a week out of surgery and here's my thoughts so far.
pro's:
- surgery day staff such as nurse paige, nurse christine, etc. and the whole surgery experience was top notch. they took great care of me during surgery day as i was very nervous. i had ptsd from my original surgery but after this experience i am not scared of breast augmentation anymore!
- anesthesiologist (dr odell) was 5 stars excellent. i had fear of general anesthesia due to previous bad experience so i put in a request to speak to him a day before and he called me despite his busy surgery day schedule, explained details to me so I felt way more comfortable and soothed my anxiety. after surgery i did not have the nausea and vomiting that i experienced in my original surgery.
- recovery was very easy compared to my original surgery. i only took 1 norco, never had any pain, and was back to normal the next day. no vomiting, no pain, nothing. it's like 'rapid recovery' for real.
- dr kim has good surgical skills, i can tell, my incisions look much cleaner and thinner this time so im sure the scar will look nicer. the internal sutures are holding up my left breast well, when i lay down they stay more upright now. the nipples are even, creases are looking even, nipples are centered on the breast mound - all hallmarks of a well done breast surgery.
- space between cleavage is ok, could be more, i really dislike breasts that are very close together aka the butt cheeks cleavage.
- dr kim is very responsive to emails and is very patient.
- office receptionists girls are nice and patient. there's always so many girls coming in and out of the office, asking a million questions so their job is very hard and i admire their patience. they had been very helpful.
con's:
- consultations and even pre-op is like 5 to 10 min max. there is not much hand holding and you should know what you really want beforehand. come prepared with all your questions.
- no measurements of the breast, chest, no bwd or ribcage measurements. most of the other consults i went to measured myself and we based the implant sizing from there. i know the office goes by 'wish photos' but just in my opinion, it is very hard for me to do that because not a lot of girls would have the same frame as me. so i might see a nice breast on a photo and say 'i want that!' as my wish photo but in reality it would work well for my frame and i would not know better. the other consults i went to recommended uHP for the volume i want, while others stayed with HP. in hindsight most of the results on dr kim's ig page that i liked were in the low 400's range so i shouldve maybe done that instead of 500.
realizations:
- i am happy to say that my initial problems were fixed by this revision. the only thing i am not sure about right now is the upsizing. i feel like i went way too big with 500cc HP. before surgery, dr kim and i agreed on 450cc-475cc, but i did ask about 500cc HP. in fairness, to dr kim, he mentioned that anything in the 500cc range would be better with a uHP but uHP's would look faker, so i did wakeup with 500cc HP. the thing i realized is most doctors on this site say 150-175cc increase would add one cup (thats why i wanted 500cc's to add one cup) but in my experience it's not necessarily true, and it's not my doctor's fault. it's just difficult to visualize the domino effect it will have on my figure. the added CC's i feel like at this point, made me look top heavy and emphasized my straight figure of no hips. i look like the 90s ladies with all boobs in a bikini, not hourglass. i did not know this before surgery, that going with wider, bigger implants would make my hips look even narrower and unbalanced. it also made my already short torso look even shorter, remember i am 5'3 and 105 pounds with 500cc HP on my chest. i thought i would look like emily rata with big boobs and skinny waist, but that is not the case. you have to look at your overall frame. yes i have big boobs and small waist but i am also short with narrow hips and small butt so it's not the proportioned look i am going for. my original implants were 11.4cm bwd and now im at 13.2cm bwd, my frame is all boobs at the moment. i am still hoping this improves in the months to come! i am very happy with the added side projection, from side view i look great, front view not so much. just realized what i really wanted was added side projection, cup size, my breasts to stick out but not be big and wide.

I still feel too big and misshapen, it's more oval footballs than round. It's OK for instagram but nobody will ever think my boobs are natural. I will be getting a downsize.
