I am currently in my mid 30s and got round silicone breast implants 6 years ago but i was never happy with the results because they were too round and felt too big. I thought about exchanging them with something smaller or explanting them but the surgeon that implanted them told me that it was not worth to get implants if the size was not going to make a difference in the shape of my body. In addition, he told me that my breast might end up been deformed, saggy and that my breast tissue might have shrink due to the presence of the implant. Obviously I got scared about the outcome and I continued to wait for a few years hopping to get more used to them but they always felt fake and i hated how much attention i used to attract using shirts with some cleavage. Also take in consideration that I got the implants in Latin America where views on what a beautiful female body is very patriarchal and therefore a curvy body is what is expected from a male point of view. Realizing this situation just continue to increase my desire to get my own body back.
I decided I was going to explant no matter what the results were in terms of aesthetics. Reading the stories of other women in this site helped me to have a better idea of what to expect. I am posting here my story to encourage and support other women going through a similar situation.
I decided to explant with Dr. John Lee in Portland, who is very straightforward on the information he gave me about the procedure and what can be expected. I also liked that he did not tried to influence my decision in any way and was very professional. He did a very good job in getting rid of them and obtaining an aesthetic result. According to him, the most important factor is the quality of the skin, he told me I would not need a lift.
He used the old nipple incisions to remove most of the capsules, still he left the piece that was attached to the ribs. It has been 8 days since the explantation and I am very happy with the results. It is amazing how my breast tissue and skin is compressing to a shape very similar to what my breast used to be.

Hi ladies,
I thought about giving you an update, it has been 3 weeks since my implants were removed. I am doing great and today I was able to do exercise for the first time. As you know, my surgeon used my old nipple incisions so I feel the stitches are still there. They are supposed to dissolve in my body.. I hope that happens soon because they kind of bother me. I don't even think i will have scars. I feel great!

hi, mabenoro. you look great. now that it's been quite a while since you had them removed, would you say you're bigger, smaller, or the same size as you were 21 days post op? i just had my explant today.

Hi, I am sorry i haven't checked my inbox. Overall my left side seems to be the same size but slightly saggier than it used to be before BA, I am super happy with that side because it looks so natural. The right side seems as a bit smaller than the left side, I actually can touch that there is less breast tissue in the lower part of that nipple compared to my other side. This might be the outcome of the surgeon trying to remove the capsule in that side more than he tried in the left side. This is the only problem i can see so far, it bothers me a little bit but overall i am happy for the results so i won't do anything to change it.

Are you okay after your explant?
