1 month post-op

I wanted to write this update for a while but I am so torn about the results that it has been hard to get my thoughts straight on this. Hoping my thoughts will be helpful to you guys as I have myself gone through almost all the reviews on this procedure.

So it has been a month and I am still wearing garments which is a real pain but is worth it. My lipo areas feel numb and particularly my legs and knees hurt quite a bit. My legs I don't notice unless they accidentally touch when I walk but my knees have given me a bit of a struggle. If this happens to you my advice so far is to do cold compresses in the evening. I also keep my legs up at night (put two pillows under my feet), as my doctor suggested. If I have an online lecture to give it makes things difficult as I have to move around and change from my chair or bed pretty often, to avoid any pain developing.

My breasts have been very disappointing to me but it's not all bad and they do look a little better than before. If I slouch they do look good, haha. if I slouch in a bra - even better. I think the difficulty has also been accepting something so imperfect that is kind of a result of your own planned intervention. I was always fine with my looks even though I'm sure my boobs objectively looked worse than now. But now that they are just a bit uneven, have nipples placed at different levels and looking different sides, etc. - and are still just SO small - it has been pretty hard to accept. Particularly given that I did everything right - I was the right frame, had extra weight in all the right areas, chose the best surgeon I could, got advice from my doctor that at least 400ml should be possible from the way I look (although it can't be guaranteed) etc. I guess it makes it easier to think that despite the result being pretty sad it's not because I approached it wrong or was unreasonable, it's just something that can happen.

On the plus side, my surgeon was fairly supportive and said we can see what to do at the review point of 3 months. He mentioned implants being an option (which I will never take unless I have an actual need to do so), or doing a second round of lipo (which I think is also an unreasonable choice because we did all these areas - abs, flanks, inner thighs, and knees and were only able to get this much...). So basically, no options. But we'll see what happens at a 3-months point, perhaps things improve, the bumps are gone and I start gaining weight in the boob area...

One thing I wanted to advise is sticking to wearing a very tight garment for as long as your doctor says. Dr Agha said I should do this for 6 weeks and I have one more week to go. I can't tell just how much I want to stop wearing it but I think it does make a dramatic difference. I had a size S after the operation and during the post-op appointment 14 days after the procedure my doctor said it's not tight enough and suggested I buy another one from him (XS). My legs were much better after wearing a tighter garment for only a day and the inflammation did decrease in a week or so. Again, not to say it's gone but a good garment does make a difference in my experience!

Best of luck to everyone!

Excellent Surgeon - Looking Forward to Seeing the Final Results!

I am 7 days post-op having done breast fat transfer with Dr Riaz. I am very delighted with the overall experience. I have to say I have considered this for quite a while and was cognizant of the fact that you have to absolutely trust you have the best surgeon for this type of operation. I do think that I made the right choice with Dr Riaz.I had a rather brief consultation initially, given that I did a lot of reading on this I didn't feel I have many questions. The process was very straightforward. Payment and document signing was arranged online and I had no reservations about that. Dr Riaz has been in touch with me throughout the entire time and took the time to answer emails on every occasion. The procedure was booked at a convenient date for me in light of my workload and other planning. I also asked for a letter from Dr Riaz for my mother's visa so that she can apply and have better chances of getting it on time. This was done within the same day.During the pre-op stage, there were minimal instructions on what to do before the surgery apart from bathing instructions and advice to take multivitamins. I understand that some surgeons advice taking quercetin and buying arnica cream so I bought those just in case, for the recovery phase. On the day, the service was impeccable. I live outside London, so Dr Riaz has kindly arranged for his driver to pick me up and bring me back by his personal driver, which was such a huge relief for me given that I live alone in the UK. I definitely overestimated my ability to move around after the surgery so it was good to have that help. My mother eventually got the visa on the last day before surgery and was able to fly in, but I didn't know it would happen until the very last moment so this did take the organisational stress away. To say a few words on the hospital care experience, I arrived at 7am and was promptly moved to my personal room, which was clean and nice as you'd expect it to be. In a few minutes there was already a nurse attending to me with a questionnaire, blood pressure test etc. Straight after I saw Dr Riaz and he marked my body. I was impressed with how gentle he was and I absolutely didn't feel uncomfortable. Hard to explain what it is exactly but Dr RIaz does have a perfect manner of attending to patients in my experience. It's personal and friendly, but not overly familiar and very respectable so you feel it is just the perfect balance. I was photographed and that was pretty much it. It all took less than 10 minutes from my recollection. After Dr Riaz I was seen by an anesthesiologist. I hear some doctors have nurses doing this job but here it was a doctor, he was friendly and we had a pleasant conversation and I felt very normal and calm. I then had roungly an hour to sleep in in the room before I was taken to the operating room. Obviously, that went without my involvement but I was made comfortable in the room and there were two nurses in addition to Dr Riaz and the anesthesiologist so I felt very well received.I woke up in my room in the garnment and feeling okay. The initial recovery was a bit unpleasant as I felt quite dizzy but it wasn't too bad. I had my gluten-free meal brought to me and I was under the impression that I had to eat something to make sure my body has some nutrients on the day. I really couldn't eat much and threw up everything I ate or drunk immediately, so I quickly gave up on that idea. A funny situation, as a result, was that I couldn't pee as I had no water in me, but the nurses wouldn't let me go until I do so that they know there is no issue with passing urine. That took a while and I was given some additional medications in the meantime. The driver was waiting for me by 4pm but the nurses wouldn't let me go until 5.30pm. It was all fine though and I was rolled out to the street in a wheelchair by the two nurses. I was also given strong painkillers, antibiotics and blood thinning injections to take home. The first days were a bit of a pain and I had to cancel the work meeting I have optimistically scheduled for some 30h after the completion of the operation. I was definitely in no shape to talk, I assume mainly because of anesthesia. I only took one strong painkiller to sleep for the first night and then took 1 paracetamol in the evening for the following two days. I am quite resistant to pain so don't worry if you want to numb yourself you have a full supply of very strong painkillers. On day 2 post-op I went for an hour walk and have walked more and more each day. One of the lipo areas in my case was around the knees and that appeared to be the most painful area for me so I can't walk as normal yet: one leg is much more inflamed and I have to redistribute weight unevenly. I can walk through, and even cycled today at day 7 post-op. I can definitely work and conduct all my daily activities. Although wearing the post-op garment is a bit of an inconvenience it's also completely fine once you've made a decision to go through with this. ;)The lipo areas are looking okay and apart from one knees/thigh nothing bothers me. I did use arnica gel, troxerutin (a cream promoting blood circulation), and Traumeel cream (from a German company -Heel) to deal with the bruising and pain. Obviously, none of those are mandatory and weren't on the doctor's list but I thought they can't harm. Some bruises are still very deep and take time to come up and some have almost faded by now. The numbness has reduced from day 1 till now considerably, and my stomach area feel pretty much back to normal. I also had a chance to see the stitching on my belly button and have to say Dr Riaz's work is impeccable! You can hardly see anything and it's truly an artwork. Finally, my breasts look nice, have ample volume on the top but are pretty small. Dr Riaz did one additional area for me but still couldn't graft quite as much as we hoped so I only got 165ml on each side. Initially, I was very sad to hear that as it was so unexpected - I am not the slimmest person and I saw other people with slimmer builds getting out more. However, I believe Rd Riaz did everything he could there and I care more about the shape than size. The shape is very flattering and I am impressed it was possible to achieve this with so little fat injected. There are also no bruises and no pain around my breast area. Looking at the recovery from day 1 to day 7, I'd say the size stayed the same so far and I don't feel any inflammation in my breasts. They probably look more natural now than at day 1 but still kept the same volume and overall shape (they didn't feel inflamed much initially and I had no numbness in them). One side is a bit less soft and it might take longer to fully recover. As a result, it also looks a tiny tiny bit bigger but I think this will go away as the inflammation subsides fully. I hope there is no lump but let's see what happens in the coming months. Overall, I am very happy and hopeful I will be one of the lucky ones to not lose too much fat post-op. Miracles happen with good surgeons, I believe. :)

I was definitely in no shape to talk, I assume mainly because of anaesthesia. I did not take off the garment till Wednesday when I decided to finally shower. I then noticed how swollen my lower legs were and my mum spent more than an hour massaging my feet and calves. I have to say the situation improved straightaway and I could move my toes again! Other than that, my upper legs were swollen but it was bearable. I only took one strong painkiller to sleep for the first night and then took 1 paracetamol in the evening for the following two days.
