Bottomed out 1 year PO

$7,200
My implants bottomed out after a couple months and continued to get worse month by month. I just got a revision with another PS. My original PS wanted to charge 10,000 (which apparently was a "deal"). Very disappointing to feel like you did all the research and chose the right surgeon just to have a failed result and the surgeon not take any responsibility. Unfortunately it comes with the territory. I just had them redone. I had a capsulorraphy and galaflex mesh placed with larger new implants. It was definitely way more painful when I came out of surgery, I was surprised at the pain I was in. Revision surgery lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes. Lots of internal suturing to help support/fix my over dissected pockets. Pain was manageable later that day, once I took some pain meds, a week out I'm still uncomfortable in some spots but very happy to have them re-done. I had at least 20+ consultations all around my area (Hawaii) and the US mainland. I decided to go with Dr. Colgrove in Atlanta, GA for my revision, I am very happy with the service I received. I will be posting a review on my experience in another post. Hopefully the capsulorraphy and galaflex mesh will prevent me from bottoming out again. I finally have cleavage, still very swollen, but excited to see the final result. Here are two different photos showing pre-op through one year post-op and another picture one year post-op through right after revision. I went from Mentor Memorygel Xtra 370cc MPP to Mentor Memorygel 650cc HP with galaflex mesh and capsulorraphy. I decided to go with the regular Mentor Memorygel instead of the Xtra gel. They both have the same exact gel inside but the Xtra are 98% filled and the regular memorygel are 93% filled. The Xtra implants didn't feel soft enough for me, hopefully I don't have any rippling with the lower filled implants, I am over the muscle, I wanted to stay over the muscle and just correct the pockets. I will post a review with more photos of the revision soon to show how I am healing. Hope this helps anyone who is dealing with the same issue.

I had a BA 7/31/2020. After just 4 months I was bottomed out. I was out of state and every virtual consultation I had I kept bringing up (kindly) that I felt my implants were sitting too low and my nipples too high. Finally at 7 months post op Dr. Alexander acknowledged that I was in fact bottomed out and told me to take vitamin C and sent me a strap in the mail to wear under my breasts to push them up. This did absolutely nothing to fix the problem, it was way too late. When I finally had the guts to say I wanted a revision (again very politely) the entire mood changed, as if I was a burden. All the sudden Dr. Alexander wasn't as happy go lucky as he was before. When I had a consultation to talk about a revision he really made the outcome seem bleak. I went to 20+ other consultations all over the US (virtual and in person where I live) and every single PS said I had been over dissected. Since this was so obviously a mistake made by Dr. Alexander you would think that I would only have to pay for the implants, anesthesia, and the surgery center costs, especially because I had issues within the first year. Nope! I was given a quote of $10,000! This was supposed to be a "deal" according to the financial coordinator. I was absolutely disappointed and couldn't believe that Dr. Alexander wasn't standing by his work. Overall, I feel Dr. Alexander is knowledgeable and will answer all your questions. He can be very kind and safety is important to him. Would I recommend him.... absolutely NOT.

They’re gonna look amazing!
How are your revision results doing now a year later after Colgrove swapped out your implant volume/profile? Also, do you know what your BWD was prior to your first surgery?
Hello! Now that I am a year out everything is great! I do have a couple things that I would change, like the type of implants, I wish I got the Mentor Memorygel Xtra because I do have some rippling when I bend over. And I wish I asked the PS to do something about the skin on my sternum. The skin is almost detached from my primary BA, I don't know any other way to describe it. It was really bad after my primary BA and Dr. Colgrove felt that it would be fixed by simply lifting the IMF. It is a lot better after the revision, but anytime I lay down in a reclined position, like with pillows behind my back, it looks gross because the skin folds over. I think I posted a video about it on my revision page. My biggest concern is that my right breast feels like the capsulorraphy came undone, or the stitches broke during my recovery. You can feel the thick scar tissue that was deep in the IMF originally is now at the base of my breast. I was supposed to set up a telehealth appt with the PS, and send pics, but I never did. I do think he would fix it for free, but right now I don't have the money to fly out to the east coast and I can't take off work at this time. I try and be as transparent as possible and show the good and the bad. Overall I absolutely love my results and I am very happy with how well they turned out. I have a good IMF, I haven't bottomed out, and I actually have cleavage. Neither PS told me what my BWD was, and I never thought to ask at the time. I will have to post an update now that I'm a year post-op. Sorry for the long message!
It’s a shame the Surgeon wasn’t forced to be held accountable for his shoddy work! Thank you for the review, I was considering him for revision surgery but will not be using him.
I would highly suggest you go to someone else. If you are in the Last Vegas area I would recommend Dr. Brown or Dr. Richards. They both have really awesome work. Dr. Brown is great and I wish I went to her, unfortunately she doesn't really do out of town patients, she will only do it if you go in for a consultation first and then go back for surgery. Since I live in Hawaii at the time that seemed like too much for me, but I wish I had done it, it would have saved me a lot of money and time. And Dr. Richards does amazing work but he has a long wait list if I remember correctly. I'm not sure what problems you are having with your implants or if you are willing to travel, but if you are looking at Las Vegas I would recommend those two doctors!
Thanks!

Mentor MemoryGel Xtra 370cc

I'm currently around 4.5 months PO. My breasts are very soft compared to one month ago. I'm going to try and add some updated pictures and videos but sometimes they won't upload. Still loving my results, I do wish I had a little more projection but it isn't a big deal for me. My bra size is around a 36D possibly a DD. I find myself pouring out of the 36C push-up bra. I'm really loving sports bras, they are comfortable, provide support, and some can give really nice cleavage!

Beautiful boobs. Before they were nice. Now better. In some bra they look like natural. Good job. Please update. Regards.
Did you go under the muscle ? Would a lift have helped the upper pole situation? Because sometimes more CC is just added weight .
The PS recommended over the muscle. I initially said I didn't want any upper pole, now that I have them there are little things I want lol that I didn't know I would want. More projection and upper pole fullness. I have seen a lot of subglandular and dual plane and completely under the muscle and i feel like after a year they can end up as low as subglandular. As far as were my crease sits a lift wouldn't be necessary unless to even out my areolas. I do plan on getting them redone when I have the finances, I am curious what my original PS would recommend to achieve what I want. So far one PS said for a revision he would go under and another said he would stay over the muscle. I haven't talked about it with my original PS yet, I would like to go back to my original PS because he gave me exactly what I asked for originally, and I feel like he could give me what I want now. I'm just surprised because I asked for a quote range for a revision and the secretary stated way more than what I initially paid. So that was disappointing. I do worry if I put larger implants in the subglandular position then I will need a lift later and I don't want that! Thank you for the comment!
I'm also curious if I did go larger and stayed over the muscle if textured implants would help because it would prevent more movement. Just an idea
that Mentor Memory Gel Xtra type feel great, I have the same type in the HP range. You look awesome!
Thanks girl! I love your results, I definitely want to get HP when I get my revision. Thinking about going to Dr. Revis. You have yours over the muscle too right? Did Revis want to go under or keep them over, and do you have the internal bra? The 370cc MPP isn't enough projection for me, but being "dove chested" the implants in that size had to be wider to help fill the gap in my chest. I think when I go larger 500cc-600cc range I should be able to achieve the width and projection I want. Definitely want them higher on my chest like yours, I feel mine fall too low.
Yours dont look too low on you tho. Well mine kinda feel abit lower right now compared to when I had 550cc, but then again that doctor had placed them under the armpits too much so lol. Implants shouldnt be too high tho (superior displacement). When I had 700cc they were way too high which made my tuberous breast come back and they felt harder, no lower pole too. Ok so youre at 12.6cm width now right at 370cc Moderate Plus, so at 470cc in the Moderate High range is 12.8cm width 5.2cm projection from 4.1cm that you have now. Not bad at all. But the HP is better - 535cc and 560cc are both 12.7cm width, 6.0cm projection and 6.3cm accordingly, then 595cc you go to 13.1cm width and 6.3cm projection. Im sure Dr Revis could fit that on you. Not sure how much wider youre allowed to go. Yes Ive been over the muscle at all my 3 revisions. Only being under on my very 1st augmentation, never doing that again and in XL augmentation over 600cc my previous doc told me you cant be under the muscle it causes problems. Ive had 4 surgeries. Dr Revis said I should stay over the muscle to fix all problems. Hes adamant about staying on the plane you currently are while other docs said I should go submuscular to fix symmastia. BS! With Revis I can sleep on my side without hurting on the median, proves his point, you can fix anything over the muscle too. Yes Ive had the internal capsulorrhaphy (internal bra) on my 3rd surgery at 700cc but wasnt done properly. Dr Revis did it right.
Oh my goodness! Finally someone else that looks at the charts and the numbers like I do lol I thought it was just me! I definitely want to stay over the muscle so that makes me happy that Revis can still do the internal bra subglandular too. So many other PS's have told me I have to go under. He also recommended a donut mastopexy to move my nipples horizontally so they sit straight forward instead of facing outward, which I would love but I don't want my areolas to get large and I'm not sure if they would when you're going side to side with a donut mastopexy. I know with the donut lift it puts too much tension on the areolas and they stretch, when going vertically. I'm definitely looking to go larger, my original PS ended up putting in the 370cc and before surgery I told him I wanted the 405cc, the next size up in the mentor xtra, but I told him if it didn't look right to do whatever size he thought was best and he said the 370cc fit better. Now that my skin is stretched out I know I can fit larger implants. I think I would be a good candidate for the 535cc or the 595cc in the HP Xtra. The 535cc wouldn't be that much of a difference as far as width considering I have a 12.6 width now. The one thing I am concerned about is the projection, with my nipples facing outward I have a feeling that the 6.0 of the 535cc and 6.3 of the 595cc projection might make my nipples face even more outward. Being so "dove chested" I would love to have the gap in-between closer. I'm going to do an update in the next day or two. Had a consultation with a couple of PS's out here in Hawaii for lipo of the axilla area because I do feel like I have a little extra fat in my armpit area and I know some PS's will remove that when they do a BA. I just feel like the surgeons out here in Hawaii are so expensive and they are nowhere near as good as the ones on the mainland so I decided against it. I'm a side sleeper too and I have no problems sleeping on my side, did you actually have symmastia? During one of my consultations for lipo this one PS said I was forming symmastia. So who knows? I have a couple consults coming up for revision, just to see what they say, but I know I want to go to Revis. One thing I keep hearing is that I have bottomed out. I love the lower pole and I want to keep it, I just want to fill in the upper pole
You didnt look bottomed out at first but they really look bottomed out in one pic. I absolutely hate bottoming out, when Dr Revis told me my right one was bottomed out at my 550cc I almost cried. I believe your doc didnt form the pockets right for you. Yes implant dimensions are the most crucial,we have to look at the dimensions, volume and cubic centimeters dont matter to me as long as the width is right, sometimes you can add projection by fat accumulation on the boob but you cant fix a narrow implant, so width is the most crucial. Stretching of the skin can only help with adding projection, but width really has to do with anatomy, skeletal structure, what your chest wall can accommodate . Im skinny but I am wide for instance. The Xtra Moderate High have less projection more width as its the usual with the moderate plus, or regular implants, always more width, the opposite of the UHP in the wrinkly gel type. Im no PS but looking at your pics you can add width, 595cc would be perfect on you I think. from 12.6 to 13.1, not bad at all. I never had real symmastia where the median detaches from the skin, ouch, the uniboob type, Dr Pousti told me I never had, what I had was mild form of the symmastia look where implants sort of lifted the skin when Id bend over or wear push up bras due to the enlarged pockets that doc created and due to being over the muscle. Real symmastia is hard to fix and I believe my last doc who did my 700cc was right you gotta go under the muscle to fix real symmastia. My mild for was an easy fix sating subglandular. No I no longer have median pain when I lay sideways, its crazy. I had pain there even with my 700cc and the internal bra that previous doc did because he placed them too high, and I think my 550cc , the left one was slightly higher placed too and I had bad pain, cuz its common sense that the sternum up there, there is no breast tissue there. While now theyre SO close yet i have no pain, cuz its all down within the breast tissue. Hard to explain but the higher you go in placement the more issues you have, and then going lower like your doc did on you. You dont have symmastia, but being over the muscle you have to be alert. When I started with the 550 over the muscle they were horrible merging, and by lifting weights and strengthening my pecs I managed to get them to separate more when Id bend over. Some say dont do chest exercises with symmastia tendency, I think it worked wonders for me back then to reduce the pain, after all Strattice is sutured on the muscle insertions so the effect is almost like when you get them under the muscle. Docs had told me on here that with mild symmastia you can strengthen your tissue and fight it, as long as the skin is still attached. Oh please dont touch your nipples!! mine point outwards too, even more now that DR Revis placed them abit closer so I wont have that huge gap I always had. Dr Revis suggested that an areola incision and I said helllll noooo! even the thought of cutting around the nipple makes me nauseous. Docs needa stop with the donut mastopexy, it ruins the nipples. Please dont let them mess with your nipples. Your main issue here is bottoming out, once you fix that and have equal lower and upper pole the nipple position doesnt matter. And lets be honest men rly dont care about that, they just want nice soft boobies and good nipples. Never seen a healed donut mastopexy looking right, dont do it.
Thank you for the advice! For real! I felt really hesitant about a donut mastopexy just because of all the horror stories I have seen and the pictures I have seen. Even when I started thinking about moving the nipple horizontally it would still put tension on it from the outer sides which would stretch my areolas, absolutely don't want that! I have the IMF incision which are taking a while to heal, keloid scars, and breastfeeding is important to me if I ever have kids in the future. I know they say it's completely safe but I feel like it could be so easy to mess up the milk ducts messing with the nipples. When I do my update I will do a video, I have this weird thing with my skin. At the bottom of my sternum, right at the lower pole I have excess skin, I can literally get a good pinch of it when I slouch my shoulders. I believe it is from my PS over dissecting in the sternum area to help bring my breasts closer together. It does not look good. I can deal with it but it looks like the skin was lifted and never reattached. I have a consultation with my original PS to discuss my concerns and see what he says, but like I said before I feel like I already made up my mind on seeing Dr. Revis. I just want to see what other PS's say and get as much info as possible. I think you are absolutely right I think the 595cc Xtra HP would be perfect because of the extra width. Which I believe I need. One thing that did bother me is my PS never told me my BWD, I tried measuring myself but I'm going to ask him what it was just so I know for myself. Thank you so much for the info. I love learning new things and you have clearly done your research, it's a breath of fresh air! ☺️
I didnt do enough research thats why Ive done 4 surgeries so far :( Oh yea I had exactly that same issue, loose skin on my sternum and above the breasts from the enlarged pockets. This went away tho as soon as I had the internal bra done even after my 3rd surgery - I was itching there where the skin was raised and didnt have any sensation under the armpit. Its an easy fix. I dont know my BWD, haha I just got lucky with the wider 550cc being cohesive (they are made too damn wide they had the width of a 700cc HP implant at 14.8cm) so this way I found out how much width I can accommodate. Dr Revis was my last resort, all docs make mistakes, SOME of his work online seems bottomed out, maybe he was too tired, then other patients of his look amazing, so its a hit or miss with all doctors, but his internal capsullorraphy works. My previous doc did an amazing job on another girl, and he didnt do that well on me. You need a doctor that knows how to redefine the pockets and restrict them if you go with a wider implant and being over the muscle, its vital, you dont want symmastia. I mean symmastia can happen with narrow implants too if the tissue isnt strong, I had pain with my 14.1cm wide implants that I didnt and dont have with my 14.8cm wide, hah. Ill be glad to see your progress :)
Look up Revis donut lifts and how they eventually stretch out from the XL implants he places. Be prepared for large areolas down the road. Look here, Google, Yelp and FB for further info.

Mentor MemoryGel Xtra 370cc MPP

Here are some more pictures of my breasts at 3 months, before, and in-between. I forgot to state that my implants are round and smooth. I still don't have the feeling back in the bottoms of my breasts. At first it was really uncomfortable and felt so strange, but now I'm used to the feeling and it doesn't bother me. I never lost nipple sensation, I have extremely sensitive nipples and that is still the same lol. It really is amazing to see the difference 3 months makes. I will include some pictures of them in sports bras (which are my favorite) and some regular bras. The black bra has no padding (I hate padding, I always pull it out if I can) and has underwire. The white bra is padded, not pushup and has underwire.

Wasn't able to add all of the pics I wanted, this post is all 3 months PO
What incredible results. I hope you are very pleased!
Thank you! Yes I love them! I really am so happy I had them done! Thanks
Looking at these without a bra, youre right they are a bit too low. Show them to Dr Revis, Im sure he will say theyre bottomed out. He said it about my right breast when I had 550cc, my right one was bottomed out, even tho it wasnt placed too low but placed incorrectly in the pocket.
Dr. Revis did say I was bottomed out, or at least over dissected when I sent him pics and got my quote. I like my nipples to be high lol but not this high. They sit at the top of the implant instead of in the middle or "breast mound". I think they look great when I'm wearing sports bras, it gives me the cleavage I want but I wish that when I took off my bras that the top of my cleavage started at my armpit area instead of starting so low. One PS's told me that I was bottomed out and that the skin would just keep stretching and stretching and of course he told me I had to go under the muscle. After hearing your story I definitely feel more confident about going to Dr Revis. I absolutely love your results, and I don't think that my expectations are too out of reach. I try and make sure that my expectations are realistic. I would like to keep the lower pole and have way more upper pole along with it if that's even possible. I do feel like my pockets are way over dissected my implants can move all around in there and when I lay on my back they do splay into my armpits, which is normal if you have natural breasts but I have implants LOL. So I do feel like I was a little bit over dissected.
Definitely! free roaming boobies! enlarged pockets are dangerous cuz thats how I almost got symmastia, thank God my tissue was strong enough. Thats what I had with my 550cc, my pockets were worse than yours, the boobs would go anywhere up to my collar bones way near my back haha. I did lots of typos on my other response, hope I still make sense.
My mom has massive real boobs, im jealous and she is very wide at the sternum, her boobs dont go under the armpits like mine did tho, its just that the breast tissue kinda falls over there being so big, but real boobs are nowhere near the armpit. That was another issue I had, lateral displacement, crazy, theyd slide from a higher position on the sides, they were not centered and for yrs I thought that this was normal lol. That doc thought they look natural placed like that. What you want is very simple, Dr Revis has no limits, he works with 3000cc implants. My case was more complicated, and my last doc insisted that i cannot go back to my 14.8cm width *eye roll* he kept saying ill have median pain and rippling, kept saying they will go higher on my chest. He couldnt see that they didnt fit because he placed them too high! ugh. He didnt know how to do a subglandular placement. Some docs man. I proved him wrong, i mean Dr Revis did. I knew it wasnt right for them to be so high yet he kept saying thats the right thing. I think Dr Revis has the tendency to place the implants closer than other docs, and mine now being so projected at 6.7cm, and my sternum so bony they look like balls and look abit low on my chest BUT its an illusion cuz when I compare them to my 550cc my moles on my chest prove that theyre placed at the same height and my right one even higher cuz it was bottomed out. Enough with my rambling, Just wanted to say your desire is nothing crazy and you deserve perfect results, the docs who say you cant do this or that arent skilled enough. Just dont go under the muscle for sure it creates so many other problems, its normal I mean our body doesnt like a foreign object under the muscle, you get Capsular contracture etc, real boobs arent under the muscle lol, half it covers the implant and you bottom out faster than ever if you lift weights. Plus the submuscular ones look like theyre hanging from the armpits lol. Whats crazy with mine is that I had the same implant type the Xtra HP gel at 700cc and now at 790cc, yet the 700cc were so much harder. In 3 days ill be 1 month post op and they feel soft like real, im amazed at Dr Revis' work no joke.
Please be careful and research your revision PS carefully. Research ALL platforms. And whatever you do don't buy into that internal bra. I know many ladies who have major issues with them from a certain PS as he stitches that directly to your rib cage and becomes very painful in the long run. Good luck.
