Botched and dr unresponsive
Complaint Description:
Botched surgery unresponsive office! I met with my surgeon Dr. Oliver Pope Simmons on 6/5/20.The next day the procedure took place. When I woke up from surgery I was put into a wheelchair for transport, I was shivering and freezing cold because I forgotten my robe. I asked the staff working in recovery for a blanket and I was told that being cold was normal and I would be fine.I sent my husband a text alerting him to pick me up because I was in pain, freezing, and I had been left in a hallway bleeding profusely. No one in recovery seemed to want to help me. I asked for water and I wasn't given any; at this time not only am I thirsty, but I am also shivering because I didn't get any sort of covering for my blood-soaked exposed body. I was left in a hallway bloody and full of shame. To wake up from surgery unable to walk without excruciating pain and those hired to help me in my time of recovery completely ignoring me was quite heart breaking. I could not understand why I was treated so badly this has affected the way I see medical personal, this experience has forever altered me. I wheeled myself close to the bathroom with a specimen cup, and filled it with water to drink, I was disgusted and in the worst pain I had been in, in my entire life. While begging for someone to help me I witnessed the staff gathered around a child and a man dressed in plain clothes who entered through the back door of the facility. During COVID19 if you were not receiving a service you weren't permitted into the facility. So, for them to put vulnerable recovering patients, moments out of surgery at risk made my experience so much worse. My husband texted me that he was waiting for me downstairs, I called out for the transporter that was playing with the child that entered through the back door, but I was ignored. A nurse walking by saw me sitting in my blood trying to get more water from the faucet and she wheeled me out of the bathroom. I told her what they were doing to me was neglect, I asked her for a blanket, which she retrieved for me. I was still freezing and sitting in my own pool of blood. I asked her to please let the transporter know my husband had been waiting on me for 45 minutes and I was ready to go. she told me she would alert transport, 15 minutes later the transporter took me to my husband.I did not deserve to be treated so poorly. The next day I took my garment off and noticed something was off, my right hip was huge, my back hadn't been lipoed and by buttocks we're uneven. When I arrived at my post opp appt, I was told that the Dr. was in Surgery and I would not be able to see him. The nurse told me my concerns could only be addressed with my surgeon. I reached out via Instagram to Dr. Simmons on June 20 after noticing that the disproportion was getting worse and the swelling had not gone down. He informed me that I would need a revision. I later found out by going to the hospital that it was fat necrosis and it needed to be removed and new fat needed to be implanted. After reaching out to the call center 38 times without out one call back. I placed a BBB complaint and someone name Mindy contacted me to offer a revision and told me id be responsible for anesthesia totally cost 1,500. I agreed and let Mindy know if anything else went awry, id like to be refunded the cost of my surgery. She informed me that if I had any other issues everything except the initial deposit would be return. On August 28, 2020 I reached out to Mindy to pay the anesthesia fee and she informed me that she'd quit working for Newlife and to call over and see about being reassigned. I have been calling Newlife since that day and never a response. On Friday September 11, 2020 I drove down to their office and spoke to office manager Regla who informed me they were putting me on the schedule for a revision for 12/17/2020. When calling the customer service to confirm that I was on the calendar for the date given by Management they said that I was never added for a revision.
