I've had my filling and X-Rays done just waiting on my clinic check review which is on the 9th of September to see where we going with this. I did first want the 6 months smile but the previous dentist said it wouldn't be 6 months. I'm dead nervous because as part of my degree i'll be placed with in a school so I hope I can cope fingers crossed.

Hello and welcome to the community!  Not having seen your teeth I can't say for sure, but you should be able to cope quite well, as long as you aren't starting the placement and Invisalign at the same time.  That is to say, people get used to Invisalign very quickly--a few days to a week for the first tray, and then a bit of a bother again once you get attachments, if the doctor doesn't give them to you straight away.

Can you please post pictures so we can have a better idea of your starting point? :)  This is an exciting time, and I look forward to following your progress and hopefully helping you meet some others here!  Funny, we just got a new Invisaligner from Leeds not to long ago.  She's called gemma123.  But we have a growing number of people in GB :).  Thank you for joining us!

I'm so glad there's something like this I've always wanted to track my progress but Im a lazy person so I was unsure on how to. I start uni on the same day as I start my invisalign but it's a Friday so I have the weekend to recover hope it helps.

The first 8 hours are usually trivial, and you should be good by Monday :D

Goooood news I don't need teeth removing waheeyyy that was the bit I was dreading. I have been told about the treatment plan its going to be shorter than if I had teeth removed from 18-14 months its 12-14 every little helps and its only 30 trays for my teeth I was expecting a 100 or something. Instead of having my teeth taken out I will be having the filed by .5mm front top and .3 from the bottom front teeth. Haven't yet been told about any attachments hope i don't get any. fingerscrossed.

That's huge!  Congratulations!  And thanks for posting your pics :).  You have an unusual overjet.  Is that from thumb-sucking or tongue-thrusting?  Or did it just happen that way randomly? :)  Thanks!  Extremely excited to watch your progress.  I hope the Invisalign does a great job for you!

Thank you. I've never really knew put I think it's due to the tounge always lickit it and pushing em weirdly I presume.

Tongue thrusts can be a bother!  I know we have two others just now who had tongue thrusts.  PreOrtho is one of them--she's almost done with her treatment now.  She had a gap (diastema) from it.  The other is martimimartin, who is brand new.  I don't know what PreOrtho ended up doing, though she'd said she'd be working on the tongue thrusting.  martimimartin hasn't answered me yet :).  You can go meet them---the links go to their reviews. :D

First Aligners

mhussa

Hey guys! So yeah I went in yesterday morning to get my aligners I was super excited because I had heard it hurt a lot but my dentist said I was scaring my self this made me feel better. I went in for my appointment sat on the chair and my aligners had arrived, we got straight stuck in. So he popped them in. my top teeth the more crowded ones didn't feel much tightness where as the bottom ones did rather confusing. He then held the mirror for me to do it and it was relatively easy, leaving the room all happily no pain apart from tightness no lisp no nothing rather chuffed with my decision off to uni I went. Around lunch there was more of a ache rather than pain still tolerable I took the out ate and rinsed everything popped them in OUCH the pain it was worse than before and I had the lisp :( but it was manageable I carried on. Come home i could feel teeth moving which was painful so I took a pain killer ate and slept. I then woke with an aching mouth the pressure/ache is firmly on my top crowded teeth which is what I expected. This morning the ache/pain is there but less and you can sort of feel it moving teeth. I have to keep these in until 2 weeks before I can change them. In 4 weeks I will be back at the dentist to receive my third, fourth and fifth set all with attachments. Good luck to me I'm not a pain person hope to see results soon. I would say no one noticed my aligners until I pointed them out.

I fixed your post for you :).

Sorry about the pain :(.  Expected and normal but still a bother!  For the future, you may have a better experience if you change trays right before bed.  I found that it helps a lot (and many have agreed with me) to be able to have the trays in uninterrupted for a good 8 hours before trying to remove them the first time.  Most of the time that's difficult when you go to the doctor and they put them in for you in the morning, but when you have the freedom to change your trays, definitely give it a try.  I know one of our Invisaligners wears hers for 18 hours straight when she first switches--she just fasts for 18 hours that day.  I used to fast for 8 hours after going to the ortho and having my tray switched, which is much easier than 18! :D

So did you start your treatment on the 19th, then?  I can change your date for you in the review so it counts correctly :).

Ahh that's the thing I didn't do I will be changing mine on the previous night then thank you. Yeah I originally got them on the 19th of septemer but no chance of writing one then.

I didn't do it on the previous night, just the same night.  You can ask your doctor about doing it the previous night, though, if your tray feels very loose by then :).  Otherwise you're missing precious hours! :D

It would be only 9 hours so I don't think that'll make a huge difference I hope anyway
